EPISODE 2

Darn it if I am not enjoying Jamie/Brienne. Sorry, Tormund.

And GOOOOOOOOOOO, ARYA!!!! Get it, get it!!!

I continue to enjoy the shadefest between Sansa and Dany. But I think I agree with everyone else here. It would appear that maybe Dany cares more about getting that throne than what Jon told her about the parentage. But I would say there was slight disgust on her face...but got over it quickly.

Overall,  I liked.

I was very impressed that though there were many hero deaths, not one of them felt repetitive or unearned.

was probably my favourite.

It was such a roller coaster that by the time the war was finally done I had to let out a huge breath of relief as if I had been there myself.

Just excellent, beautiful television.

As for a selfish request, now that Gendry has seemingly made it through, can I please get my GoTdamn SKINS reunion between Chris and Cassie, please? Something, anything, between the two best characters from that show would be amazing.

Negatively, Samwell pissed me off the whole episode.

I called a few deaths but not many.

I was shocked by who pulled the trigger at the end. I was not expecting that, but it worked. I have no idea what Bran was doing that whole time - I kept thinking he had to be either warging the Night King to get him where he wanted him, or he had to be secretly part of the NK the whole time. I hope we'll find out.

Starting to think between this week and the first two eps they will legit re-pair Tyrion/Sansa in the end, at least as a marriage of convenience. tbh I'd be fine with it.

Forgot to add: As someone who was a big fan of the siege of Winterfell plotline in S2, I was glad Bran got to be the one to give

his last absolution. There was no way that character was walking out of there alive and he knew that going in, but he needed that and as Bran is a favorite of mine I was glad they remembered that beat even as they (and Isaac Hempstead Wright in interviews) keep hammering that Bran is barely Bran anymore.

I saw the post from Sophie Turner. I thought it was very touching.

After the mess of season 5, I couldn't keep watching the show, but I have kept up with it. I'm glad Theon got closure with Sansa and Bran, and I'm glad that Theon got to die on his own terms, in a way he could be at peace with. He'd spent all his life as the property of other people, and even the few times he'd had a mind of his own he'd ended up desperately trying and failing to prove himself worthy of the wrong people that he just caused so much pain and damage - to himself and everyone around him. In the end he was satisfied and made his own choice.

Theon was, for me, one of the most complex characters, in the show or in the books, or on television in recent years, and Alfie Allen gave a stunning performance. I'll never forget Theon, and for all my complaints, I'm glad that I got to know him.

    • Lois's return has been a bust. So disappointing that the writers have never written for her. As with Tracy, the pool of GH vets is so thin, there's no one to pair her with. Doubtful they would go to the trouble of properly recasting a legacy character and then sticking  him with Lois; they're obviously not that invested. If she wants to be on this show, it'll be as a noisy grandma who stays in the background.
    • I love me some Anita and TT. They need to give her a good storyline and I know that it's coming.
    • @Franko Thanks for tagging me. A few days ago I was talking in another thread about the rise of "snarky" critics for TV shows in the '90s online recaps, but this is just more along the lines of a mauling. There's also the unspoken reality that films like Steel Magnolias were seen as movies for women, so therefore they sucked. Pauline Kael also had her share of blunt, at times incredibly nasty remarks, but the vitriol is often balanced by her love for film. I'm not seeing that here.  With that said, the comment about Field's work becoming unbearable describes how I felt when I tried to sit through her and Maura Tierney on ER.
    • I skipped most of Daniel too. I think it's awful he has kids with Nicole, Csrky5 and Chloe and Brady, Bo and Philip do not.

    • Today was very focused on Bo and his illness.  I’m liking how everything is ultimately tied together, even though everybody doesn’t know it yet. The EJ connection seems a little sudden and random though. I’m guessing that that was not on Ron’s agenda. And I’m not really sure why any of these rich people couldn’t help the hospital months ago lol  But I really like how the whole sepsis drug thing is being written a lot more realistically than what we’ve grown accustomed to with Dr. Rolf and all of his wonder drugs. They’re definitely putting more of an effort into this storyline. It feels more real.  Philip was a little whiny and self-pitying today, but I also feel like the writing has improved for him as well. He’s coming off less like a villain and more like a tragic hero. I enjoyed his scene with Stephanie and hopefully it means that at some point, we’ll get a revival of Philip/ Stephanie/Alex. Tying it to Stephanie’s novel could be really good. And, the dorkiness of Xander and Sarah was really sweet too. I’m looking forward to their weekend together and what secrets may or may not come out lol
    • "And I also want to flirt with every woman that comes my way... but then beat up anyone who talks to my wife. BECAUSE I'M A MAAAAAAAAAAAN." Give me a break with your ugly baby paintings... You're in the same category of the hacks that sell paintings with a single dot for thousands or even millions of dollars.

    • I have to check out his Bela Garody on Search for tomorrow. He was one of the main reasons EON worked for me when I was watching. Truly unforgettable presence. Handsome in the most perverse and sinister way. They don't make faces like that anymore.
