I hear that. Like you, I've watched this show from the beginning. I can't quite let go of it, but it really is a trashy waste of time. The one bright spot is the casting for Hope. I think this girl is a find. I covet her for the role of Abby Carlton.

I bet they cast for looks over talent (by which I mean the right look, not good looks), which is a common theme in daytime. I still think Daisy has long red hair for a reason. The Abby we have now cannot stand the test of time, imo. Y&R used to be so good at casting people who could grow into a role for many years to come. I'd even argue that's been one of the secrets to the show's success. NuHope is an actress I could have seen playing Abby all the way into adulthood, but I'm not that bummed because B&B needs all the good acting it can get.

Yes, I thought Hope was good the day I saw her. MILES better than Steffy.

Hmmm...she might be good for Abby if Abby became more like her mama and less pouty and entitled.

She definitely doesn't give off that 'evil viper' vibe they're trying for in Daisy. Oh, I hate that Daisy.

Yes!

No, seriously, B&B got kudos from Branco and Daytime Confidential for the scene last week (or was it the week before) where Bill Jr. reamed out the Forresters (after discovering the scam they were trying to pull, and reminding them of the non-compete clause).

The BnB has some great moments, but there aren't enough of them linked together to make great episodes, IMO. That's the problem I have with the show. The Logans have to keep eating crud from Stephanie, Steffy, and Taylor - who are all delusional and whiny. Ridge calls Hope his daughter, one day, Brooke's daughter the next. I don't get this show and that never bothered me before. I'm just tired of the disconnected storylines, now.

No, you're not the only one! I love the boardroom stuff, though I miss the fact that Rick Hearst has so little substantial airplay.

B&B turns on a dime, though. Norrth is right in pointing out that a few great moments do not an episode make. And if this week is going to be all about Brooke-Ridge-Taylor, Lord spare me now. Is Ridge's sack of goodies really all that? Really?

The Logan women have got to be among the most narcissitic women on soaps. Why are they always doing a photoshoot involving them? Ive gone on the B&B website and it seems as if the 3 sisters have taken alot of different publicity shots together and on the show they tend to be lead models for their fashion campaigns. Why the heck are these old broads plastering their faces all over their ads? Okay they are not that old but in modelling terms, they are pretty ancient.

Daytime Confidential's latest podcast ragged Ridge out for sitting there like a lump while Taylor and Brooke (ostensibly) fought over the future of Forrester Creations. When he finally attempted to separate the two, he was all "Girls, girls, now, now." DC was, like "Girls? Girls? Where are we, the Playboy Mansion? Quick, somebody give Ridge Hugh Hefner's smoking jacket."

The Forrester men, oy. They are the best advertisement for vibrators I have ever seen. Seriously, the women do all the heavy lifting on B&B. Thank goodness for Dollar Bill and Whip at the present time. At least they have a pulse.

    • Also, the lawsuit story was not the right story to bring Naomi and Bill into a court battle since those types of lawsuits are usually resolved via settlements.
    • I know that Sara did eventually become Carrie's therapist, but I was curious if the show had her make comments regarding Carrie's stunts of making it seem as though Justin was cheating on Jackie.  Given that Justin cheated on Sara with both Jackie and Brandy, I wondered if it was wise of her to counsel Carrie given the conflict of interest involved. @DRW50I think once Adam/Sara end up married.. Marland didn't see any reason to explore Sara's personal life after the actor playing Adam was released.  I know that Sara lasts until at least Christmas 1982 on the show.. but I don't think she ended up staying on for very long into 1983. The period between Marland quitting and Pam Long starting was the perfect time to clean house on characters that had outgrown their usefulness  (i.e. Ben, Evie, Sara, Jennifer, Morgan).. and tying up stories started by Marland that were too complex (Mona Enright, Mark/Jennifer/Amanda triangle).
    • Unpopular opinion:  The focus on the soap opera tropes over the mysteries and crimes was partly what did the show in.  Also, featuring characters not involved in the legal, police, and criminal elements also hurt the show and took away what made it unique. Featuring characters like Jody, Raven, Sky, etc hurt the show long term.  The show ABCified starting in 1976/1977 and then went through a youthification period starting in 1981.
    • I feel like the lawsuit storyline was resolved quickly because the show didn’t want to spring for more sets.
    • It's been a while, but we have seen the foyer to Bill and Hayley's house as well as the exterior entrance to their house. The foyer was first seen in the premiere episode when Hayley met Vanessa at the house.
    • There's still a year or two before Larkin arrives. Joel is there already. EON does noticeably youthify, although I think they carry it off. Admittedly I haven't seen most of the Jody stories, which from what people here have said aren't great.
    • I don't mind the actor who plays Brian. He's fine. The problem for me is that Paige seems so wishy wishy. She doesn't seem to have much of a personality at this point so I don't see why Brian would be so besotted with her. She just lurches from one trauma to the next. Granted, it's only been a month, but she's not as vibrant as April or even Deborah who has had minimal screen time by this point.  I do worry about the influence of GH on the show since I'm in fall of 1979 and characters have conversations and there's not the drive to "youthify" the show. However, I think Marceau (sp?) is gone. He was given a rather tame sendoff. How long was the actor on the show? I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I worry the show is setting up a murder mystery around one of my favorite characters and I will be mightily annoyed. I also noticed in recent Search for Tomorrow episodes uploaded to YT that the actors playing Logan and Eliot showed up. I don't watch the show but they were in the screencaps. When does Larkin Malloy show up or has he already left? Joel Crothers hasn't shown up either unless I've blinked and missed him.
    • Dr Linden. She treated Vanessa's drug addiction (although Vanessa seemed to forget that by Henry's suicide attempt) , and she's mentioned during Reva's PPD. Although I can't recall if she's actually shown right off the top of my head. She probably was temporarily shelved when Sonni was a therapist (between her crazy times) And I think Billy sees her after he falls off the wagon after Reva's death.
