Does anyone know how these season averages are calculated? I was curious because at least based on ratings posted here, I don't think Y&R for example has a 3.7 average in ratings nor does Days have a 2.3 average for that period. Not trying to be nitpicky just curious. I am assuming other things get factored in for these averages.

And LMAD costs half as much to produce as the average soap according to the NY Times article. I would like to see the ratings breakdowns by market. In my market, LMAD goes up against GH so these are really good overall numbers. The second hour numbers are even better which means that LMAD is a strong lead in for the TPIR or the 4:00 p.m. news according to the market. Yet I wonder about the demos. I'm glad that Wayne Brady is having success. LMAD is hokey, but he is a good host. It doesn't bode well for the soaps in the long run, but I doubt the networks are going to rashly cancel the soaps. It will take them awhile to come up with good replacement programming.

I am glad that Days is back up. And I am really shocked at GH's numbers..I mean, I could have understood James Franco not bringing in new viewers, but rather leaving the ratings the same...but it really perplexes me that they are going DOWN. I believe that the week before he debuted, GH was attracting 2.8 million.

GH is still doing good in the 18-49 demo, which is good....And I find it odd how OLTL is consistently lower all around than ATWT, but yeat ATWT is the one getting cancelled...I agree that CBS might have something up there sleeve with that. They are probably hoping to attract as many viewers as they can to see how high they can get their ratings in the next 9 months, and if they go up enough, they might renew it at the 11th hour.

I don't know about DAYS moving to another network. I would much rather see it go to ABC than CBS, simply because I think the people that watch DAYS are more likely to watch GH/AMC/OLTL then they are to watch B&B or Y&R.

I would not object to DAYS moving to ABC, but I am not quite sure when it would air. I mean, I really just dont think that OLTL is going anywhere.I think it was always in danger, but I almost wonder if ABC was waiting to see if CBS would cancel ATWT. I dont think they are going to cancel OLTL, because obviously now they will be the only soap airing at 2 (in most markets, or mine at least..), and there hope would be to draw in ATWT viewers.

I think that if CBS had renewed ATWT, then OLTL would have been in more danger, but I think it is safe for now...So if ABC picked up DAYS, I would hope it just aired at 1. I would move AMC to noon, and put DAYS at 1, because it would provide a strong lead in for OLTL, which needs it more than AMC.

If Days went to CBS, I would move Y&R to 12-1, B&B from 1-2 (expand to an hour), and put DAYS on in ATWT's slot of 2-3. However, if ATWT got renewed last minute, then Id just put DAYS on at 3.

But I dont really think DAYS will leave NBC. If Sony wanted it to move, I think NBC would fight for it, because it is the bright spot of their daytime lineup.

I have also wondered about ATWT. Will another network pick it up?? I mean, the producer said they were "actively searching for another network", so do you think one will pick it up? I could see it on ABC....But NBC might be interested in picking it up, in the interest of strengthening their daytime lineup.

I mean, when Passions was cancelled, it moved to another network. Albeit, it didnt last long, it did happen. So nothing is impossible. I would like to see ATWT get picked up by CBS again, but if they go through with the cancellation, i could see it airing on NBC after DAYS, or maybe even ABC.

    • I'm anticipating most of the cast at the Nice location for a few weeks a la the Tuscan villa for Victoria and Ashland's wedding. I don't know why they bother. I'd rather see the money going into more regular home/office sets. This party has been a bust. No secrets revealed, break ups  etc. Ugly decorations and I'm going to slam the costuming again. Just the guests heaping praise on  Nikki  like she's achieved some magnificent milestone rather than just getting a year older.

In the loving arms of his wife, Dr. Marlena Evans, John took his last breath at the end of the June 2 episode, after suffering devastating internal injuries during a lab explosion. The iconic character went out as he lived — a hero. Sensing the fans’ devastation on Monday, Marlena’s portrayer Deidre Hall posted this simple-but-powerful message to fans on Instagram: “I know. I know. Hardest day ever.”

    • Now coming into June...well...   I knew it was coming but I didn't like the start to the next round of Dani/Bill/Hayley. As the 3 A plots from the start of the show (The SilkPress storyline and Martin's Secret being the other two), it needed to be benched for a while to develop those characters and allow other characters and storylines to grow. 3 months in, Hayley is the weak link, Dani is still divisive, but not boring, and Bill has been making his mark with some plots faster than others. So last week seeing the story starting to loop back around to them with Hayley's potential pregnancy, I honestly had mixed feelings.   I get it. The SilkPress storyline is currently in aftermath/next turn mode, so it has to be moved into a C plot position. Moreso if we want to keep the very talented Miss Trish around. And I love how clever the writers are being with the storyline. They give us enough in the episodes and are still playing out beats to keep the appetite fed. I don't feel like anyone is being dumbed down to keep her around. And Trish is giving nuances in her alone scenes with NuTed. I shouldn't care for a clear psycho, but she be selling it. That said...I wish they had given us a little more of the Martin's Secret storyline in the last week of the month though I loved the game of cat and mouse Bill did on Martin and Smitty to keep the storyline alive and active after it had a nice build beginning of May and vanished for a week mid-May. And it appears like it's about to go back to the backburner as an A plot which of course leaves the A plot of Dani/Bill/Hayley.   I am probably in the minority as someone who is not anti-Dani here and even she annoyed the heck out of me last week. In character true, but I just felt like there was a way to get all of that across without it feeling like...as I've said before...one step forward, two steps back...and have it feel organic. I liked Hayley got a little bit of edge with her, but she still ain't no match for Dani. And it reminds to be seen if we should be going back to that well of a story yet.   Now about today's show...   And I thought Tracy was bad! lol. But YES. Sharon has been worth the wait. And so has Anita's story! Finally having TT in the limelight. This has been a nice slow burn for me and a nice B plot. And the actress is good. The wig is giving. And her holding what Anita's secret is over her head and threatening to tell Vernon....Ooooo...that is what I was waiting for.    And speaking of bad...I thought Eva vs Kat was a great rivalry. But I am loving the rivalry that is growing with 'Nancy Drew' and Silk Press Sheila! They both get good licks in and are so cunning with each other. And I definitely have liked that since the anniversary party, that it has been growing. Now that Kat has been proven right, she has not backed down. And neither has SilkPress. And we got a 'Ms. B@tch' moment, too? LOVE. Eva coming up with a trump card was delicious and so 90s Sami Brady. GOOD. And the coda with Jacob and the expert...YES. The Silk Press storyline has been the best paced on the show so I love that the aftermath of the anniversary party continues to be so...barring one flaw...well for me. Not enough Nicole's POV.   And I like the C plots on display. And by that, I mean Chelsea with Vernon. And it made me wonder what the writers have plan for her love life now that the throuple is over with. I was watching her and going awww.   And of course the mystery man around Martin. I am starting to wonder if he really even works at the country club given how he made a run for it. That would be a twist.    Speaking of Martin...good to see him in scenes with his father and mother.    I'm getting used to NuTed.    I felt the last episode of May was a bit of a letdown, but this was a very nice recovery.
    • Unless they cut him, I'd think he would stay. Surely, he didn't choose to return because he expected high quality. I figure he gets to work when he wants and spend a lot of time doing his own thing and being with his family.
    • The writing for Liz and Lucky is indeed terrible, but if JJ signed a one-year contract he may be gone in a couple of months anyway. Perhaps they’re just cutting their losses.
    • That would be his older sister Stacey. She was the center of a big story back in the day. Nola was out to snag medical student Kelly Nelson, who she thought would provide her with the life she craved. He was in love with a girl named Morgan. Nola plotted to get pregnant by him, but couldn't manage to get him in bed. So she seduced Floyd, who thought she was in love with him. When she knew she was pregnant, she got Kelly drunk and made sure he woke up next to her in bed. Kelly believed her when she told him he made her pregnant. They were about to elope to Las Vegas, but her mother ratted her out and Kelly abandoned her. She almost married Floyd, but jilted him at the altar. She went to work for Quint. When the baby came prematurely, Kelly saved both of them. She named the baby Kelly Louise to irk Morgan, who was now married to Kelly. When she fell in love with Quint, she had a change of heart over all the trouble she had caused, so she changed the baby's name to Anastasia Louise, shortened to Stacey. Quint was a devoted stepfather and Henry treated her like his own granddaughter.  After Quint and Nola leave SF, I believe Stacey is never seen again. Which is odd, you would think they would have brought her back with Nola and J, but they never did.
