As long as the Cassadines remain in such a pathetic state I don't even know if bringing in new members of the family would help. The show keeps trying for edgy bad guys but it usually flops because their leading men are generally so bloated and unpleasant, there's no contrast.

I wish they'd brought Franco in to bump off various useless characters.

Eveyone assumed this Cassadine story whatever it was going to be was going to be great. Based on what? Alexis is a non factor, Nikolas is a pathetic whiner, Helena is a cartoon, and who else is there? I tend to agree. IMO they had their chance back when SN was brought back around the time the original Nikolas returned and they blew it. Without Stefan and Stephan Nichols, who I adored, it seems to me a waste.

And edgy bad guys? Look what happened with Sebastian Roche, a terrific actor and poorly conceived character and tenure on GH.

And I have a list of characters for Franco. Sadly it will never happen.

I think people hear "Cassadine return" or "Cassadine/Spencer rivalry" and that's it, it will automatically be seen as a success. Just like JJ's return was automatically going to usher in some great period, when all it's really done is spat on any trace of fondness fans had for L&L2, because now that the show doesn't hate Lucky, Liz has to pay the price to make him look better.

The Spencers and the Cassadines feuding with each other is like if Roseanne and Tom Arnold started trashing each other in the press. It was interesting, sort of...sometime in the 90s.

The Cassidine story has potential or at least seems interesting to me because it wouldn't involve the mob. I also was interested in the fact that there was supposed to be an African-American teenaged Cassidine brought on. Then you always have the potential for Alexis and her kids being involved. They're already developing a relationship between Molly and Nikolas and if a teen is brought on then the Cassidine story will automatically involve Kristina in some way.

Of course the story could be terrible and by the time it hits the air, who knows how it'll be. Still, I think I know enough to be interested. it's at least something different.

What is this Cassadine story supposed to be about? The last one was that horrible Stavros story which became ridiculous after awhile. There is a lot of nostalgia surrounding the Cassadines, but not being the mob doesn't seem like enough. There may be a stunt or two involved to bring in the ratings, then again how many times has this story been pushed back? Is it still on? You never know with Guza.

As for a black Cassadine, I'll believe that when I see it. Guza did talk about the re-establishment of the Wards being in its conception. If and when that happens, I'll believe that also. I wouldn't count on GH for diversity.

No one knows what this Cassadine story was supposed to be about . I never read anything about a black Cassadine. The actor they were planning on bringing in was yet another illegit child of Mikos(Stefan's father) who was supposed to be 10 times more evil than Stavros. And the last Cassadine story was ludicrous. It was conceived by Tony Geary to finally end the Spencer/Cassadine feud and he was livid at how the writers ended up butchering it. And I just don't see any kind of story or feud working without Stefan. IMO it was his departure that finally left the Cassadines and barren and uninteresting as they have become.

Yes I am familiar with their history when Elizabeth met Emily/Lucky also Sarah/Nikolas prior to the rape and also learned about the night she was raped. Lucky was talking about Nikolas w/Deanie/Sarah at Kellys instead of showing up to meet her at the V-dance. He felt guilt about that.

Elizabeth wanting to find the man that violated her, joining a support group & Lucky staying in her room/them running away he joined in her search; her recalling the smell of the spicy soap (Mr. Murty her teacher).

I also think I remember something about Elizabeth looking for info re: her parents on the Cassadine yacht during this time…

For me, this was a time when the Laura/Elizabeth being attacked were intricately woven in story…eg that Stefan told Nik about Laura's rape who in turned told Lucky who was told by his other brother. Lucky had some awesome POV dialog re: it w/Elizabeth he was unforgiving not understanding Laura marrying Luke.

Helena was hovering about re: Lucky's storyline. Nik's crush on Robin (he dumped Sarah). Nik at the beginning was mostly on the other side of the canvas (he and Lucky not getting along) dealing with the Stefan/Katherine murder (when Luke loosened the parapet railing w/a letter opener) meant for Helena. Stefan was arrested/Laura from No Carolina (returned to find out about Lucky incl Nik getting shot in the throat). Luke/Cassadine feud erupting...…

In October, NiKolas Emily/Lucky (Elizabeth when hovered in a corner) "Tom is gone." The Muskateers confront Tom together…he holds a gun on them. Nikolas offers to go to the bank to get money he can keep Lucky/Em/Eliz hostage.…Lucky grabs the gun he/Nikolas wrestle with Tom (Emily's blackmailer). Elizabeth points a gun at him. Emily talks her down. Elizabeth calls the police to pick up her rapist/Emily’s blackmailer. They reluctantly but firmly bonded during Emily’s photographs blackmailing storyline (Tom).

However by Nik's birthday in November they were speaking on (Murty) being caught and celebrating when Laura turned up with LesleyLu.

Frankly I don't think whenshe was raped and when Tom was caught by the Muskateers has anything to do with it. It was an arc that included several storylines within it (for me).

Therefore, the storyline was ongoing and merged w/Emily's. As said "This is the Muskateers" (for me).

My point is that Rebecca's presence was not needed in order for the scene to play; obviously meaning the scene could have been written differently.”I certainly know Elizabeth's response was to her mocking the musketeers. Her rape could have been brought up just as everything most often is in drama in reference to any response via dialog,

Eg...they were reminiscing about the past, discussing Emily it could have been mentioned if that is what the writers wanted to do it ain't that deep for me its called "script writing." I write (fan) fiction and I (orchestrate on my storyboard) whatever I want to happen, happen.

Had she not been there it would have been a more warm fuzzy scene “more sympathetic with a more positive focus for Elizabeth” and I have to believe the writers “know this since they are in the throes of trashing her unmercifully. The scene could have played very well “for me” without her. This is my opinion as an Elizabeth fan and that’s it. I don’t argue over a TV shows especially one I barely watch…as for 2006-2007; I don't recall how this was brought into my response because I don't give a flying flip about Jason with Sam so I try hard not to discuss her with those that do.

Elizabeth may have looked golden for you but not for me and many of her fans that I post with on our network.

I don't share your opinion re: the Muskateers being a fan of “friendships.” That's why this show has lost my interest for the most part. They have dropped mostly everything meaningful to many long time viewers (I post with) and GH has been gutted to a mere shell. They have friendships why not the Muskateers what difference does it make. So we respectfully agree to disagree, no biggie, its just a soap opera for me...and not a very good one.

Happy New year…

Ric is ten times the dramatic actor Burton or Bernard ever were. Emphasis on the past tense, they have lost any decent ability to carry a scene. Burton at least has flickers of emotion every now and then.

It was so great to see Emily Natalia go off in the sunset with Zander Alex. It was retribution for them killing of Zander and destorying his relationship with Emily at the end. It almost seemed like the show acknowledged there mistake and righted it in a way. Zander/Emily were amazing and it's sad that they were destroyed for Nem.

I completely agree. Jason and Liz were painted as patron saints during 2007.

I think they could probably get away with it had JJ not been in the role of Lucky. GV had a vibe about him that didn't illicit a lot of sympathy. JJ however pretty much just oozes sensitivity and he is being a complete prince to her. Not to mention the viewer loyalty that people have for JJ since he came in 93'.

Hey I think we agree about a lot but the point of the story in the scene was not to revisit history regarding Emily but was for a specific reason. The reaction in the scene told me that - that was the reaction by all parties. I think the only point I was making was that it was used to elicit sympathy. All the self loathing and fantasies have been an attempt also.

For me the muskateers died long ago, and became dead and buried when Emily was killed off. Lucky and Emily will always be my 2 faves of the group because they were first, first friends, the first crush Emily had was on Lucky not Nikolas(yet another piece of history re-written). My favorite friendship was Emily and Lucky.

And hey we can all agree to disagree. I don't want to make this a war of anything. I hate how GH has been gutted. O hate how they've decimated the Quartermaines, I don't like the Spencers aside from Lucky, I'm no longer a Scorpio fan seeing how Robin's been written the past few years. I think if you don't like the friendship of Carly and Jason and the Corinthos family and extended family on GH you are SOL.

This I agree with and Nikolas again proves to be a character killer. I adore Natalia, disliked Rebecca until she finally started sharing scenes and story away from him. Then she suddenly became an interesting character. I never liked Nem and always felt Chad was probably one of the finest actors on the show. Everyone shined around him. That short 1 minutes scene with he and Natalia was awesome and most of it was due to Chad. And a nice nod to Zem fans with the "eyes" comment at the end.

I actually didn't get the point of bringing Chad back for that cameo. I find it hard to believe that it was acknowledging that GH made a mistake ruining Zander and Emily and firing Chad. It must have been a flight of fancy because Guza isn't particularly introspective.

I think that under Guza, Nikolas has become as much as romance killer as Sonny. I'll give Sonny props for at least being charming and in decent shape. Nikolas always looks bored, lacks charm, and is bloated.

It was a pointless scene that I still loved. He sold a 1 minute scene like he was coming on as a major character. Of course I'm a huge Chad fan so I'm biased. I don't think it had a thing to do with acknowledging they screwed up killing off Zander. It was just a nice nod to a couple that was pretty well liked. That's it. And maybe letting Natalia leave with some dignity after months of working in a terrible story, playing an awful character, and having to work with the most lackluster, overrated actor on the show. (yeah I still resent he's still around yet Chad is gone). And the comparison to Sonny I agree with. Every single actress he's worked with, the character is off the show. Same with Sonny aside from Carly. People can say what they want about Steve Burton, but all his pairings for the most part stayed on the show and were allowed to move on after they split with Jason. Robin left but did return but Courtney and Liz are still around. Sonny nope, Nikolas nope.

They brought back Natalia because they realized it was a mistake killing off Emily but as usual, Guza fecked it up thinking it was the actress not the actress playing the character. He did the exact same thing with Sarah Brown and she sucked up even more story and screentime. Of course it didn't work with Tony Geary and Bill Eckert so of course Guza could make both situations work. Moron.

I admit I loved the Sonny/Olivia/Dante scene in Wednesday's show. I thought it showed a much lighter side of Sonny and it will be interesting to see how Dante changes the game when Sonny finds out Dante is his son AND that he is working for the feds.

GH is far from perfect, but I give major props to the breakdown/scriptwriters who at least try to give us lighthearted moments.

    • All caught up on this week's episodes. Deidre Hall has done the best work of her career with this series of episodes. That is her tribute to Drake. Every acting choice has been perfect. From her reaction the moment John flatlined, to her snapping at Abe and Paulina (what a smart, realistic writing choice), to her grief playing the text message over and over. Josh Taylor did the best work of his career in the scene with Kayla telling him John had died. Everything about his facial expression, voice, pronunciation, everything was so different from what he usually does. He was overcome with the emotion of it and any of his acting tics disappeared. Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso were great. One thing I noticed with the flashbacks of John/Marlena and Bo/Hope is that Bo and Hope are constantly smiling at each other. The chemistry those two have cannot be faked. It's clear the writing team decided to clean up Bo and Hope and give fans a happy ending for them, neatly wrapped up in a bow. The juxtaposition of Bo and Hope reclaiming their happiness thanks to John, while Marlena is dealt life's harshest blow from John's sacrifice, was another great writing choice. Marlena even saying that to Eric, that she is paying for Bo's recovery with John's life, was such smart writing. Susan Seaforth Hayes was used very effectively between the two storylines. I really enjoyed the scene of Kate talking to Philip, calmly stating that she will make Xander pay. Overall, the show should be lining these episodes up for the Emmys and Deidre should be carefully choosing her scenes for her own reel. She deserves a Best Actress Emmy for this work. The first time I have felt that way about her work. Peter Reckell should submit himself for Guest for the scenes where he found out Victor is dead because he was genuinely heartbreaking. Josh Taylor should throw his name down for Supporting Actor for his scenes. The show deserves a Writing and Best Show for what they've done with the episodes around John and Bo. It was heavy stuff and I feel for the actors. I am so impressed with what they did.

Commander Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation. Both are highly intelligent, but rarely understood by the outside world. Both aim only to evolve, to be better than what they are. And both belong to the NFL. Data, who is actually Brent Spiner, was born February 2, 1949 in Houston, TX. He was the son of Sylvia, a corporate VP and Jack, a furniture store owner. When Jack suddenly died, Sylvia was left to raise infant Brent and his brother alone. She eventually remarried a man named Sol Mintz. Although Mintz adopted Brent, Brent changed his last name back to Spiner when he became a professional actor. Spiner attended Bellaire High School in Houston and was heavily involved in baseball and the drama club, in addition to being a member of the NFL. While on the speech team, he gained 143 points and even earned the title of Dramatic Interpretation Champion in at the 1967 National Tournament (the same year actress Shelley Long won Oratory). After his success in high school, Spiner moved on to the University of Houston and began performing in local theatre in Houston. Eventually he dropped out of college to move to New York City and try his acting luck there. While in New York, Spiner gained more stage acting experience, performing in several Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, including The Three Musketeers and Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George. In 1984, Spiner decided to try film acting and moved again, this time to LA, where he appeared in several pilots and made-for-TV movies. He then auditioned for the up-and-coming show Star Trek: The Next Generation. Spiner himself was never a fan of science fiction or of the original Star Trek, but figured the show would soon be cancelled and he desperately needed the money. Starting in 1987, Spiner played Data for 15 years, during the show’s 7 seasons and the four feature films that followed. Even when the show was cancelled in 1994, Spiner’s career as a performer barely paused. He is most remembered for his role in Independence Day as Dr. Okun, the somewhat awkward chief scientist of Area 51 who is attacked and killed by his alien subjects. He has also made appearances on Law & Order, Friends, Dude, Where’s My Car?, I Am Sam, and The Aviator. Spiner returned to the theatre and appeared in the Broadway revival 1776 as John Adams. Unlike most of his co-stars, Spiner is not very active in the Star Trek convention scene. He has made a few appearances, but overall his lack of interest in science fiction gets the best of him. However, he still regards Patrick Stewart and LeVar Burton as two of his best friends. One of the challenges forensicators face is finding the human element in their events; to not be robotic and detached, but simply themselves. It is this crucial element that separates the good from the great. As the character Data, Spiner sums up the NFL experience the best: “If being human is not simply a matter of being born flesh and blood – if it is instead a way of thinking, acting, and feeling, then I am hopeful that one day I will discover my own humanity. Until then…I will continue learning, changing, growing, and trying to become more than what I am.”   https://www.ign.com/articles/2002/12/09/an-interview-with-brent-spiner https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-xpm-1992-02-17-ca-1835-story.html https://www.discogs.com/artist/1224629-Brent-Spiner?srsltid=AfmBOorfw9Nl3EZ4fc-plhbgU3ng2bSQTruygkdJxZgsPquzQ6sBhCbj     Leslie Charleson    pg. 435   PILOTS/PROPOSALS ANOTHER APRIL      April Weston Moss   1974    (Made for T. • For anyone who missed the end of Friday June 6 due to news interruption, the last five minutes of every episode is uploaded to the official GH facebook late in the evening, usually around 11:30pm Eastern. Here's the end of that episode: https://www.facebook.com/generalhospital/videos/3649028845342563
    • Thanks so much for posting this. Since they had retconned Roger/Holly's relationship after his return as being "Roger was always in love with Holly" when it was actually the other way around, they kept up this narrative in this video. Understandable, but it still bugs me. Holly was never his "heart." That's baloney. He only married her to be in Christina's life and was screwing other women like Diane and Hillary the whole time. Peggy was truly the only woman that Roger ever loved, and even that wasn't a very healthy relationship. Holly only really fell out of love with Roger after she realized she loved Ed while they were divorcing. I'm glad he reminded people that the rape scenes were taped in a day. It's amazing what they accomplished with very little rehearsal. That scene still has great impact after all these years. And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask. (I love the way they joke about the mask at the end). Alan's insanely over-the-top reaction to his return when Roger had no hold against him anymore. Yikes, one of the worst things Long did while she was still writing the show, though I will cut her a break since she absolutely had a tough task bringing back a guy who fell off a cliff.
    •   Thanks! You reminded me I did not remember to add in the preemptions for the dark weeks, since those are not listed on the sortable charts, so these are the additional preemptions per newspaper listings and Vanderbilt News for the 1973-1978 dark weeks. I have added them in to the full lists above.   8/26/74-8/30/74 Another World Wednesday episode- 3:04PM (26 minutes) 8/26/74-8/30/74 Doctors Preempted Wednesday- Ford News Conference 8/26/74-8/30/74 Edge of Night Preempted Wednesday- Ford News Conference 12/22/75-12/26/75 As the World Turns Preempted Friday- Sun Bowl 12/22/75-12/26/75 Guiding Light Preempted Friday- Sun Bowl 12/22/75-12/26/75 Search for Tomorrow Preempted Friday- Sun Bowl 12/22/75-12/26/75 Young and the Restless Preempted Friday- Sun Bowl 8/22/77-8/26/77 Doctors Preempted Tuesday- Carter News Conference 8/22/77-8/26/77 Guiding Light Preempted Tuesday- Carter News Conference 8/22/77-8/26/77 One Life to Live Preempted Tuesday- Carter News Conference (possibly aired just 3-315PM) 4/24/78-4/28/78 Another World Preempted Tuesday- Carter News Conference 4/24/78-4/28/78 General Hospital Preempted Tuesday- Carter News Conference 4/24/78-4/28/78 Guiding Light Tuesday ep- 230-3PM (30 minutes) 6/26/78-6/30/78 Edge of Night Preempted Monday- Carter News Conference 12/25/78-12/29/78 Another World Preempted Monday- (Local Fill) & Fiesta Bowl 12/25/78-12/29/78 As the World Turns Preempted Monday- Peach Bowl 12/25/78-12/29/78 Guiding Light Preempted Monday- Peach Bowl
    • Breakdown writers can pitch stories and obviously they have influence over what is included in the breakdown but MVJ is the final decision maker. It depends on the faith you have in MVJ if you feel Carlivati is going to be a problem. I don't think a throwaway having a book author named after him is a sign he's taken over the show. Most people didn't even catch the reference.
    • Tamara Tunie reading that damn letter is exactly why I wish this show had more experienced actors.

    • Oh wow. After reading your post, I realized that they had "Carl Ivati" in the script AGAIN yesterday June 6.    Eva said she was reading his latest, and Tomas said "Work's been so busy, I haven't had time to get into his new series". Then Eva proceeds to tell him that "the first book is called 'Mercy and Goodness' and it's all about how the couple first met and how they got separated".   She goes on and on about how great it is. And she says she has the book in her hotel room if he wants to borrow it. She says it has twists and turns. And meanwhile Kat is snooping in Eva's room to look for the helmet and gloves, and finds the book and dismisses it as "basic". I saw that whole scene -- but I wasn't paying attention to the name of the author.  And when Tomas said the name, I heard it in his accent so I didn't hear "carlivati".  II was mainly trying to see if the acting had improved with the actor playing Tomas, and I think he has improved somewhat.   I only see it when typed out. So they had several scenes yesterday about a "Carl Ivati" book?  Barf! Well at least Kat had the good sense to dismiss it as "basic". Ron Carlivati wrote the breakdown yesterday!   Featuring himself in it! Addressing to the collective "you" whoever you may be: Some of you, months ago, said Oh Ron is only doing breakdowns.  The story comes from MVJ, so he won't influence things, you said. May 27 started it, with Christopher Dunn breakdown and Lynn Martin script. But they didn't need to continue it June 6 with Carlivati breakdown and Jazmen Darnell Brown script.
    • I was completely lost. But it is wonderful that it exists. I didn't really know Robert Mandan had done soaps...well, besides SOAP.
