Ok I just got this from my source about what is happening with MTS. Bascially SONY wants Nikki to be put on recurring status but Melody wants to stay on Y&R so she is unhappy about that. Even though MTS resigned with Y&R this summer, Sony wants to change the details of her contract. They are negotiating at the moment with her. But Melody does not like what they are proposing so she may not be returning either after Nikki is written out with Victor.

If this is true we'll know soon enough. BTW, Daytime Confidential said they looked into the rumors and are hearing the same thing. Kenny from Daytime Royalty (and SON occasionally) who has broke many stories said it's true as well. Their joint exit (said to be filled with flashbacks) is set for Nov. 2nd or 4th, I forget the exact date. We'll know within two or three weeks if they're 100% leaving the show. Sad time to be a Y&R fan.

This doesn't even really seem like a proper exit, especially after all these years. And Nikki, who I always loved so much as a character in her own right, is leaving as nothing more than Victor's enabler.

Remember when we were supposed to celebrate Nikki's independence and be so happy that she was finally out on her own? Yeah, just another con job from this team. Thanks so much, Sony, MAB, etc. for continuing to take away what made this show special :(

Color me shocked..................NOT!!!

This is what happens when the #1 show loses millions of viewers. becomes the laughing stock of soaps with atrocious writing almost Passions like (damn we didnt even get and Emmy Nom).

CBS/Sony has pulled rank, and no actor has any bargaining power thanks to MAB and crew

I find it so hard to believe that CBS/Sony would allow Y&R to lose two of its most popular actors. I have a strange feeling that CBS/Sony is preparing for the end in 2011 when the current contract is over.

As in CBS plans to end all of it's daytime dramas in 2 years?

I meant the end of Y&R's current contract in 2011. It was posted here that they only got a two year renewal earlier this year.

*sigh* I know that Day's ratings rose after John and Marlena left, but does that really mean that a soap that gets an average rating of around 3.5 should take lessons from a soap that gets 2.2's? Shouldn't Y&R think that maybe they are the ones who have been doing it right by having a stable cast all these years?

So I was that right that MTS was misrepresenting the situation when she claimed that she did not take a pay cut and worked things out with Sony. Oh well. It is capitalism is a cut throat business.

Gotta love how all these new characters are being added during the key November Sweeps period. And Y&R has no backup plan.

Ok guys I have some really bad news.

My source has told me today that SONY has ended negotiations with MTS. They told her to either go on reccuring or that is the end. MTS said no to recurring and she is offcially gone just like Eric Braeden.

Cant believe Y&R/Sony had the nerve to do that, Im shocked. :(

I never imagined Y&R without Victor and Nikki.

I've seen Y&R without Victor and Nikki. It can be done, and done well.

You're right, of course.

But do you really think this is a good idea at this time?

If William J. Bell were writing the show but he is not. The show may still have strong nielsen numbers but that soon will change once all the stars start leaving the show. This won't be a Days of Our Lives clone. Y&R is in s h i t trouble.
