Charlie's Angels: Discussion Thread

They all look kind of hard. I thought the appeal of Charlie's Angels was that fresh type of beauty.

I don't see this show lasting long.

This reboot is suppose to be "fairly serious non-campy". Instead of being from the police academy they will be reformed criminals.

Who's playing Charlie http://insidetv.ew.c...harlies-angels/

I'm dreadfully tired of remakes. And I care not to use that term "reboot." It's just a pretentious way for them to dance around "remake."

It's not as bad as Syfy's "reimagining".

Unlike the original 1970s series, where the team of private investigators were disgruntled graduates of the police academy, the update currently has the crime-fighters as a trio of not-so-angelic criminals. In the pilot, Charlie brings them together and offers an opportunity to redeem themselves — by working for him, of course.

I thought this was Charlies Angels, not She Spies. And oh great, yet another ~dark and edgy~ reboot. This is why all these tv reimaginings fail, they never capture the true spirit of the original shows because they're trying so hard to make everything serious and realistic.

So we are seeing yet another fun show turned into an oh-so-"edgy" remake with forgettable actors looking dour?

Is this by the same rocket scientists who made the Bionic Woman remake?

Woohoo Robert Wagner! Keep it in the Spelling family. John James as Bosley!

I hope they stick to the episodic format. There are too many shows trying to push complicated story arcs, and sometimes it's good to have an hour of action and fun each week without having to carry over plot lines and development.

There is the question of Charlie's age. Will RW be playing Charlie Charlie or a new Charlie? I like the idea of him still being old school. Just because it's 2011 doesn't mean everybody's Skyping and texting and what-not. It'll add to the character's charm.

Eh, this remake will go the way of Knight Rider. Speaking of... what is Bruening doing these days?

Does TV make shows like the original Charlie's Angels? It's going to be difficult to pull off and taking them out of the Police Academy is already a bad idea. I wonder if they'll keep it in the same world as the movies/original show which could mean appearances from previous Angels (if successful). I'll watch but I doubt it'll be very good. Not impressed with casting either.

I like the idea of them being ex con's, and i like the setting (miami), i am less than thrilled with the cast tho.

I will def give this a shot though.

Nope. FOX kinda sorta does, but it's not exactly the same. Of course, it'll never be exactly the same (which is why DVDs and reruns and YouTube are great), but I think a similar formula could still work. There's a whole generation of action shows that would never be made today, all of those shows that blended a simple plot line with lots of car chases, shoot-outs, fight scenes, lovely scenery, good disco/country/rock scores, and pretty leading characters.

Hopefully they can do it with this, though. I'd rather they come up with something new, even if it's just another twist on the old private eye set-up, but I'll take this.

I think it's time to move on. And leave those shows to their own eras. These are different times.

These are different times, but a lot of people still want to see stuff like that. The networks don't make shows for those people anymore, though, so that's why we don't see them. Others genres have suffered the same fate.

The one in the middle looks the best. The far right looks like a ripped straightjacket, and the one on the left looks like she's more likely to be battling starvation than crime.

So we've gone from beautiful California dolls to washed out old sheets?
