Oh I agree, I hated really most of the characters brought on then, from Selena to the mob to Jessie to whatsherface Chele's frenemie, to Max, the dumb kid with no reason to be on the show. I hated how all the "kids," lived in the loft over "Millennium," (obviously a ploy to get the younger demo to watch a fantasy where young people have no adult interaction) and we had to spend Thanskgviing in that dumb club one year.

A shame, because Patti D'Arbanville was a dynamo when given good material. Her appearance on an early L&O episode as a sweatshop owner whose way of dealing with uncooperative kids by way of a hitman (who she was also cheating on her husband with) was absolutely chilling. The most chilling was the way she never showed remorse, rolling her eyes and staring down Michael Moriarty's EADA Stone. I don't remember the episode name, but it was from the beginning of third season - shortly before Paul Sorvino left and Jerry Orbach came in. If you all get a chance to watch it, do so.

Patti D's L&O episode was from Season 3 and is entitled "Wedded Bliss". If you get a chance to see it, do so. The late Larry Keith of AMC fame guested in the same episode as a defense attorney.

Oooo! The Nadine/Bridget saga which spun into so many other goods stories (i.e. Vanessa v. Bridget).

Why was Bridget written out? Was it Melissa Hayden's choice to leave after she won an Emmy? Didn't she come back briefly before the show ended?

She did. And I'm still questioning why they got rid of Bridget? Maybe to make room for Cassie to be Dinah's main rival? That's what I'd assume.

Her arc was to walk in and say hi. She was on for a few days at best.

There was no arc. She (and Lisa Brown as Nola) returned for Vanessa and Billy's wedding. They appeared at Company and then at the wedding.

Rauch back-burnered Bridget after he became executive producer. She had little to do in 1997 and was then phased out in June of that year, a few months before Cassie appeared.
