Y&R: Episodes discussion, week of September 14

Maria seems to let Hogan Sheffer and Scott Hamner do whatever the hell they want. She's not creative enough to come up with stories on her own, which showed during her solo Head writing stint with the show last year.

They ALL need to be fired.

A major keep-me-awake mystery (for me) solved :lol:

Per SOD:

By A Hair

Were you as shocked as we were when Don Diamont (Bill, B&<ahttp://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/uploads/emoticons/default_cool.png' alt='B)'> showed up at the tail end of yesterday's episode of Y&R as the late Brad, who appeared to his daughter Colleen while she was drowning? Did you also notice that the actor was sans the beard he's been sporting while playing Bill on B&B? Diamont enlightened us on how the whisker-free guest spot happened. "It was a big secret, of course," he explains. "B&B had just started a five-week hiatus, so I was able to shave off my beard, do the Y&R scene and then grow my beard back while on vacation. So many people are used to seeing me with facial hair now that when I showed up at Y&R that day all clean shaven, a few people didn't recognize me!"

Her solo stint was better than dead legacy characters & floating chipmunk heads.

This is as necessary as killing Cassie for the generation of future stories and yearly cryfests for Emmy submission.

Who's next the next female legacy character to die?

Lily?

Mackenzie?

Heather?

Abby?

Chloe?

They might as well kill them all off, if this current writing regime will be writing Y&R's finale anyway. Either way, this show is dead as long as Maria, Hogan, and Scott continue to impose their toxic anti-soap vision on it.

It's very clever, because aside from Lily, and Chloe, no fans will make a peep if these characters die. And a lot of fans won't even be that outraged if Lily or Chloe die. The way the show is set up now, there are no legacy characters. They are absolutely masterful at minimizing, degrading, and phasing out characters so that viewers will feel no connection to them. Their idea of a legacy character is Amber.

It's depressing because not only was a legacy character killed off, but it was done so badly. I just can't believe how badly.

"Give it time!"

That's all we heard when many of us saw the troubling direction this show was heading in.

What the f.uck ever, these people don't more time. By November sweeps, terrorists will be invading Genoa City and they'll set up a rape camp in town. That's just how this writing regime rolls. <_<

Again, if we can't get rid of Maria, the least she can do is fire Sheffer and Hamner, as well as most of her writing staff (replacing them with better staff writers), and hire ONE Co-HW that's either a real Bell protege or a true storyteller.

The writers of this show piss me the hell off...

I've already heard people saying it was worth it, because the production and acting were so superb. This is how they get out of this destruction. We are supposed to marvel at the beautiful design of the knife blade as it carves Y&R to bits. I thought the executed stunk, but I've learned that many, especially in the soap press, will swoon no matter what.

Colleen's Hello Kitty Heaven was beautiful?

Really?

I thought it looked about as beautiful as old reruns of Thundercats, but I think they assume viewers will be too awe-inspired to care about the crappy storytelling.
