QUOTE (Chris B @ Jun 18 2009, 09:04 AM)
Okay Mary Jane fans...here are the scenes where her divorce from Jack are finalized. I think I have some more scenes with her, but I'll have to look. There's so little Patty online which is a shame.

Patty and Jack Divorce Part One

If you look in my videos you will find part two and three.

OMG:

"Are you sure what you needed was a woman? And not a mother?"

"What you had was a silly little girl. What I had was a silly grown up boy."

Looks like Jack's still a silly grown up boy who doesn't work with klepto/psychotic grown up girls either.

Aren't us folks at SON a "fanbase", too? All fans are part of one fanbase or another. The problem with Lane is not the idea or Lane or the fans of Lane. The problem is that MAB has no feeling for them as a couple and it shows in the writing. Even though Lane is not my first choice for either Cane or Lily, I can see many ways that a writer who did "feel" them could write them as interesting and worthwhile. The sad & ironic thing is that MAB does feel Billy & Mac but a horrible casting choice and an utter lack of chemistry between the actors means that the writer's passion is all for naught.

MAB also feels for art, so obviously I have very little patience and liking for the crap she cares for.

I see ratings are back to the lows the show experienced last year, and the show is actually down a bit in total viewers from last year AGAIN. I think more and more people are realizing what crap this show has deteriorated into.

To give MAB the benefit of the doubt, the ratings dip might be related to digital conversion. Also, fans might be online or watching soapnet.

That said, I think she may have killed the goose that lays the golden egg with the ruination of Jack, Sharon, Nick and Phyllis. Something is deeply wrong when I, as a Shick fan, could not care less about their reunion. This is something I've been waiting for ever since they broke up. The musical beds and the out of character writing, especially for Nick, have destroyed my affection for these characters. Without the Quad inspiring the passion it used to, where is the show going? As a Shick fan, I would much rather Nick stay with Phyllis and for all four characters to be written as real people than to have this cheap and tawdry plot-driven dreck. Nick is more dead to me than Victoria. How can MAB not see that she has gutted one of her main leading man? Oh, and what's been done to Jack is nearly as bad. We're being invited to PITY poor purse-holding Jack. What the [!@#$%^&*]? This is Jack Abbott!? And we're supposed to forget that he has two other kids?

There's a reason for this. ratings dip EVERY summer. It's a matter of kids being out of school, summer vacations, and since prime time is all repeats, alot of people just kind of forget about TV until fall comes again. Just like ratings are always low for holiday episodes. But of course, I don't expect you to believe that... you think the show is 95% crap, yet you like Cast/Walton/Cooper... I bet Jeanne, Jess and Tricia would be glad to know you consider them only 5% of the show. And ALOT of people care about art, you just don't. Just because YOU don't care for it, doens't mean it has no place on TV. I don't care for it, either... but I can RESPECT IT'S RIGHT TO EXIST. I'm sure alot of people in this world could care less about corporate intrigue that you treasure so much, but you know... if you want to run things, get your own damn show. Y&R doesn't exist just to please you, you know.

Eh. No. The show TIED its RECORD LOWS in households and is DOWN in total VIEWERS from LAST YEAR THIS TIME, which isn't good and doesn't make the future look any better.

As I don't know them personally and they don't know me, why the hell should I care about this again??!?!

Hence why the show always fails when art is apart of a storyline and why the show hit record lows last year when art was dominant on the show and has tied record low ratings this week when the art storyline is prominent.

Yeah, the same corporate intrigue that was apart of the show over 20 years...

And where did I say this? You to stop assuming. This is a message board and this is the Y&R discussion thread, if you don't like people critiquing the show, you can easily skip over those posts. I like to read a variety of things, and I watch the show every day. If it isn't entertaining me and I find it to suck, you bet I'm going to post my feelings on it. I don't post here to please you, you know.

Go Nina! Loved her lying to Jill. LOL Cane's getting nervous........

You noticed that too, eh.

Specific/detailed talk from Sylph? Dude, that's NEVER going to happen.

Thanks for trying. LOL

I love the Rikaart/Frantz comedy too. They should have more comedy to balance out the dark stories.

Because they are talented, hardworking, and deserving of our admiration and support. And saying they are 5% of the show, when they are more like a THIRD (Or in the case of Cooper, the reason this show is even ON THE AIR) is a disservice to them and diminishes their contribution. But I know your M.O. you want to support your postings no matter what, even if it means belittling those great actresses.

    • I don't really care about what the men are wearing, or not wearing.   What I care about is focusing on the writing and character development for each of the male characters. Andre really doesn't have a lot of character development that sets him apart from the other male characters except that he seems content to be degraded and mistreated by the elitist Dani.  I would like to know why a good looking younger guy like Andre would willingly be at the mercy of an emotional vampire such as Dani.   Martin, on the other hand, seems to have decent character development.. and it is partly due to how the actor chooses to recite his lines.  Martin was raised in a very privileged household and probably went to the best schools... so it makes sense that he would come across as thinking he was above everyone else.  Most people raised in a upper class situation as the Duprees would view themselves as better than others (it's the same trait Dani seems to employ on those she feels superior to). It makes me wonder how Nicole came out of that family being so warm and nurturing  when her family dynamics seemed very appearance oriented.
    • I know, right. I after just re-reading the thread, I'm like ooppph!
    • Lulu and Dante were divorced before her coma, but she was still in love with him.  He just didn't know.  They haven't been married for years.    I was pretty mixed about Lulu getting involved when it was just a child out there in the world, but now that she realizes it's Gio I am okay with her telling Dante.  It also is her son's sibling.  I still think it's BLQ's choice though.  Lulu is in a rough spot because I think Dante will be mad if she keeps it a secret and Chase, Brook, Lois, etc will be mad if Lulu tells. Without veering too far into the classic area of the show, I had no problem with Robin telling AJ about Michael.  It may not have *exactly* been her place, but she could see how Carly was manipulating the entire situation.  It also ruined her romantic relationship with Jason for good.  Jason and Sonny were furious with Robin and practically ran her out of town, so I think we were to believe she was the bad guy.  It was a bit out of character for Robin to spill, but KMc was leaving the show.
    • Rewatching/binging THE X-FILES Seasons 1 and 2 (almost done). So much fun re-experiencing, especially re-discovering some of the monster-of-the-week stories. THE WEST WING Seasons 1 and 2 as well - so good to rewatch now with 20 years more life experience and understanding. ALSO.... lol FOOTBALLERS' WIVES Season 3, which is just as bonkers as I remember and so so so so fun. I had forgotten about that iconic season cliffhanger. Good times. Excited to rewatch Seasons 4 and 5 since I remember so very little about them. Hope you've been enjoying!
    • @Toups Tyler Topits listed in alpha order with the breakdown writers 5/12 Monday episode. O'Connor still listed as both breakdown and script writer. Kreizman wrote today's script.
    • Marland was long gone by this point.  He quit in either August/September 1982. I think it was due to letting the actress play out her contract and use her for party scenes and/or scenes with Phillip/Justin.   I was surprised she was still on in June 1983 myself, because I figured she had been written out before Pam Long joined the writing staff. Thankfully, having episodes uploaded during this period on Spauldingfield YT site has helped to connect some of the dots.  It looks as though Pam Long starts the first week or so of May 1983.. and in those first few weeks: Morgan and Evie were both written off and Lillian/Mindy/Billy/Beth/Annabelle all come onto the show.
