May 15, 200917 yr Member And now that they've seen some fans are salivating all over it, they just thump out more and more and more of these stories. Also, frankly, too much of its efforts are about correcting certain things from the past. Perhaps Alden was right: focus on new horizons. I cannot deny it. Though it worries me, I'm excited as hell. So, yes, I represent the worst kind of fan. I'll lap this up with a spoon. Who is TG? He's the actor who plays "Luke" on General Hospital.
May 15, 200917 yr Member When she decided to become the engineer of the "get Neil at any cost" train. I'm hoping that she still has a thing for him, has been the force behind getting rid of Karen by bringing Tyra in (knowing what's up) and then BEING there for Neil when and if his world falls apart. I've been screaming this at my tv set every day that I have to endure Tyra and Neil. I don't mind Tyra. I think she could be a sex vixen for the young 20 something set but I'm at a loss as to why they are bothering with Tyra and Neil when the real soapy story worth revisiting is Olivia and Neil.

Interesting. I agree. I think villainizing Tyra (sorry, Y&RWorldTurner, but you think I'm "out there" anyway) can improve that tale...and I do agree that Olivia and Neil would be much more interesting. I think, to energize that, we need a "spoiler". Gil, the cop, is a man of the people...working class...like Nathan. (Nathan started out as Kong, the bad guy, but still...). So I could see Olivia being attracted to him. Once that gets rolling, then having Neil experience jealousy.. Of course, for me, always, when Neil FINALLY finds happiness and TRUE love...well...then I'm calling for another "back from the dead" plot. I'm incorrigible...

I think any soap would wish you as a fan. You are such a huge Y&R fan that I believe there is absolutely nothing that will stop you from watching it. That's not bad at all; however, sometimes you are too harsh on other soaps whereas you excuse Y&R each time they make a mistake. It should worry you: such stories can be too much, they can oversaturate the viewer. Edited May 15, 200917 yr by Sylph

If you are incorrigible, I'm afraid of what that indicates about me because I feel that would be the perfect time for Drucilla to reappear. With memory loss of course to explain where she's been for the last 2 years. Jane Doe aka Drucilla would have a brain tumor that requires Olivia to conduct extensive research for a doctor who could cure her.

So I could see Olivia being attracted to him. Once that gets rolling, then having Neil experience jealousy.. Why do you keep bringing that character up? It's obvious he was used as Tyra's love interest only in a few eps to get Neil's jealousy but that was immediately dropped. The writers aren't investing a lot of time in various contract characters, so why do you think they would in Gil? He will remain just a background character. Of course, for me, always, when Neil FINALLY finds happiness and TRUE love...well...then I'm calling for another "back from the dead" plot. I'm incorrigible... I believe any fan would ask for that plot, no matter if it's the millionth rewrite. There aren't that many people that don't want Dru back.
May 15, 200917 yr Member The narcissist in me is compelled to say that I posted a version of this on May 13 at 7:35 am . And I disagree that it would take a huge twist for P3 to be gay. He had to drink to be with a woman. He only slept with one woman, whom he stayed with because she was pregnant. While married to her, he drank himself to death. TOTALLY organic. TOTALLY. That said, I agree with others that there is no reason for P3 to be gay, just because TB is. And it's not the first time Cricket has attracted maybe-gaybe men. Michael "jazz hands" Baldwin, anybody?
May 15, 200917 yr Member These kind of stories really bug me on Y&R... I should be happy about this whole history honouring, yet it all feels so flat, manipulative, even easy... I really, really feel completely manipulated, they haven't given me any single norma, new, fresh, never-before-seen successful story; all of Y&R's recent successes were partly because fans were happy they remembered something from a distant past. I agree On one hand, I'm excited about this story. On the other hand, I'm like "ok, enough already. Let's move forward." It's becoming too much of a crutch.
May 15, 200917 yr Author Member Hahaha... that gets old so quickly... When remembering everything that happened, why did he have to have a smirk on his face? He is supposed to feel sorry, not to laugh. Or is that his sad face?

There is a lot going on behind the eyes, in his face. Rather than create a new male, why not build one they already have? He doesn't need to be on contract...he can be strong recurring as the romantic spoiler for Olivia. But, our joint wish for Dru back -- and willing to accept it any way we can get it -- shows that WE ARE THE PROBLEM. I do understand that. We divorce these shows from any semblance of reality, and we help engender the eye rolls that help to kill this genre. That said, I still want it to happen! And it's not the first time Cricket has attracted maybe-gaybe men. Michael "jazz hands" Baldwin, anybody? Wicked little kitty! Because it hasn't been said today yet.... CANE MUST DIE!!!!! Taking this serious for just a moment: Don't you feel, in a very real way, he has? At least...what Cane has hitherto represented. Don't you think this is a wholesale reinvention of the character? For all we know, Cane is not even his real name. (Nor Ethan) . I'm going to say (Cane Must Die) = (Cane Must Cease To Be What He Has Been). If you accept that equality, I think your wish has been granted . If you're REALLY SAYING "Daniel Goddard must be fired"...well...sorry...I can't help you. Although it stands to reason that the current story twist no longer anchors Cane to a core family ...and that is a marker of contractual vulnerability.
May 15, 200917 yr Member I haven't had time to be on top of this thread this week and so was unspoiled and delightfully surprised.

I never said that he's a bad character, I just wanted to explain that the writers don't recognize his character. The possibilities are there.
