I enjoyed that reunion. Have always liked Anna, Alicia, and Alice. Was surprised to see Christine there because I don't remember her being on for very long.

Alicia reciting Charles Keating's advice to her about acting was hilarious! Made even better by the fact that she basically owned it. Haha. She was fire on AW and greatly missed after she left.  It was interesting to hear her say that she recites the names of her AW co-workers sometimes at night when trying to relax. Sad and comforting at the same time.

I'm curious too what would have happened story wise if Doug Watson hadn't passed when he did. It seems Francesca/Frankie may have been a whole different type of character.

I enjoyed Donna and Michael together but I could leave Michael anytime that he was on his own or in that story with Stacey. Always found Michael to be a bit obnoxious.

I think Christine said that she and Alicia were very close, so that could account for her participation. I was initially surprised that Christine seemed so shocked when Kale told about Doug Watson's death but then I realised that she never worked with Doug as Mac. I have to say that Christine was my favourite Amanda and I would have loved to have seen the direction her portrayal could have taken Amanda in 1987 (probably without Sam, or at least a different edge to that relationship).

I wonder whether the storyline for Mac would have introduced Paulina's mother for a love triangle. Mac and Rachel breaking up and getting back together was such a well-worn routine I am a little relieved if we missed out on that. The dynamic of Paulina as Mac's daughter in conflict with Rachel and Iris was more interesting.

I loved Anna Stuart's story about how she felt strongly that Kale was The One for the role. I enjoyed the introduction of Michael and his interactions with Anna and Ellen Wheeler as Marley and Victoria tremendously. I liked him with David Forsyth as John as well even though the storyline of Donna's overwhelming attraction to John was putrid. But I agree his later storylines with Stacey (and with Iris and the spying or whatever) did not help his character.

While I can't blame Sandra Ferguson for not wanting to work with RKK, I found the Amanda and Evan scenes quite painful. I skipped over Stacey and Derek altogether. It was nice to see Felicia and Lucas, though. I liked her much better with Lucas than with Mitch.

Sandra could never act her way out of a paper bag.  RKK was okay as long as he was half naked and mouth shut.  Charles Flohe was inconsistent. Had some good scenes on Edge where he played tender emotions nicely but he never cut it on AW and the character had potential being Janice's son. I've always been amazed over the years that TPTB on many shows seem to have difficulty finding outstanding performers to fill the role of the adult/aged children of the show's vets. Some get it right. Grant Alexander and Mike O'Leary were fantastic for years as Phil and Rick.  Y&R has failed with Josh and Amelia as Victor and Nikki's kids.  They can't get the right actor for Ashley's daughter or Nick's kids, Noah and Summer. All these actors are terrible.  On AW, they couldn't keep actors in the Jamie role for very long. Bekins was the best fit. After him, none of the others worked.  Look what they did with Lorna.  Alicia was awesome then we got Sky Chandler. Terrible

Agreed (although I would add RKK's pension for short shorts)

But

I have to put in a good word for Stephen Yates.  He was Rachel-est of the Jamie's.  They shared the same hair and an artsy vibe.  They were also both vulnerable with a hair trigger temper that interfered with their relationships.  It was a shame that the character changed so much in later iterations because I thought Yate's Jamie seemed like the one who really shared some character DNA with Rachel (certainly more than Amanda or Matthew ever did).

    • A little too much focus on Chad and Cat today but I enjoyed the episode. I have a feeling that Jennifer’s gonna get dumped on though, even though I think that her anger is completely understandable and justified. And honestly, Ron is finally gone; Abigail can come back now.  But, welcome back, Anna! It was nice seeing Carrie have scenes with her mother. Christie Clark and Leann Hunley have never really had that many scenes together and to see them have them now is really nice. I’m glad that both of them were there to comfort Marlena too. Their words were definitely the thing that Marlena needed to hear. Btw, with all this talk of Noah, does it mean that he’s gonna be introduced soon? Amy, revealing that John changed her flat tire many years ago seemed a little random though. I would rather she have said something about how everybody in Salem knows of John Black because of how he was always such a hero. But at the same time, her story also showed what a great guy John was.  I liked Kate’s scenes with Philip too, and her promise to get back at Xander for what he did. And since we didn’t see JPL in the bed, did he need some time off or something? And yeah, everything involving ‘One Stormy Night’ still seems very Ron-like to me.
    • The second photo featuring the late John Spencer is from the Law & Order episode, "Prescription For Death", which was the (second) pilot/first episode all the way back in 1990! He played the father of a daughter that had gone to the ER for a mere sore throat but ended up dead because the doctor on call was drunk and had given her medication that she had an adverse reaction to, after receiving some other medication. So, he will always have that great distinction in addition to The West Wing. (The first pilot, "Everybody's Favorite Bagman", was filmed in 1988! The show was offered to CBS, but they passed. In syndication, it is oddly placed as the sixth episode of Season 1. And Roy Thinnes played DA Alfred Wentworth there. When NBC picked up the show two years later, Thinnes declined to return, and that's how we got Steven Hill's DA Adam Schiff.)
    • exactly. I can understand schadenfreude if it were real, but a lot of this is just an engineered distraction.
    • Days of our Lives S60E204 – Thursday, June 5, 2025 Okay, today’s episode was kind of boring. It was nice seeing Jack and Jen back, but they wasted an entire episode on Jen chatting with Julie - one scene would’ve been enough. Also, why didn’t Jack and Jen go comfort Marlena? And wouldn’t a flashback with Jack, Jen, and John have been great? Maybe something from the Cruise of Deception era? Bottom line - it feels like once John’s memorial is over and the returning fan favorites leave Salem… the show’s going to be dull again.
    • Everything with Elon and Trump is a stunt. If people, and the sycophantic press, are talking about their "feud," they are not talking about Republican plans to gut Medicare, Medicaid, and the ACA.
    • I can't fully remember, but I don't think they tried to get Beth Chamberlin back. I think Laibson/McTavish likely saw Beth as old news and wanted to move Philip on; either that or have her return only when Philip was closely tied to a new woman. Thanks as always for these recaps. I think I had stopped watching around this time and mostly kept up by reading in the soap magazines. Bridget's degradation was horrible to watch, as the character had grown so much over the years and was clearly regressed just to be a foil for a "hot" couple viewers had zero investment in.
    • Having the majority of the cast on those low numbers is no way to tell story. And just 2 dayplayers for the month. So sad for the #1 soap.
    • I believe it was. And this is actually one of the cases where I wouldn’t mind some dumb soap opera bringing back from the dead. They gave Mishael, Amanda, with all of Hilary’s connections but none of the personality except for fleeting moments. Hilary absolutely should’ve just left town. They decided to kill her and the baby. Just baffling,
    • That was Mal Young right? He thought a tragic death was a better option than crafting a story where Hilary leaves town. Was it a case of punishing someone who wants to leave? And then they have to jump through hoops to bring the actress back.
