BW is a great crier. Replace her with FF in the role of a mother who's child is sick and the story immediately becomes believable. FF is better suited for lighter material. Gigi/FF can still be a prominent player since I get the feeling that's what the PTB want, but high drama is not her forte.

You're right. BW does the crying very well. The day to day building of a character? Not so much. Why is it that everytime I see Jess these days, I think I'm watching Tess, pretending to be Jessica. She's so frackin' sweet! BW gets Tess. She doesn't get Jessica unless there's some tragedy to bawl about. FF has her weaknesses and the high drama is definitely one of them. But the day to day building of Gigi as a person/character? She's superior to BW.

I'm gonna need to let this marinate for a bit . . .

I think part of the problem may be that the writing for Jessica is all over the map. I get the feeling RC doesn't know if he wants to keep Jessica crazy/unbalanced or mold her in the image of Viki. Viki's DID did a lot of damage, but she never came across to me as crazy or weak--2 things I see Jessica as. For me, Jessica has not been the same since the creation of "Tess." And I don't think that's a reflection of her mental illness. I think that's a reflection of RC not knowing what to do with her and possibly a reflection of BW not knowing exactly how to play her. By extension I'm on the fence about Jessica and Brody. It would help if I could see some chemistry there.

AMC, until last week, has kept its momentum of the 100,000 viewers or so it has gained. Its viewership numbers are becoming more and more consistent as the #1 ABC soap.

OLTL's audience has always been more "volatile" and in my opinion less loyal- rightly/wrongly/whatever

I stand by the fact that despite OLTL making more money, it will still be the first show to go. All that money saved would allow them to get AMC into financial shape. Losing any one of the three shows is gonna save a huge amount of money.

Me too. I could take months to dig outta last weeks hole. -260,000 viewers or something sounds like pissed off or bored audience members.

I kinda like Stacey so that's just me. The show's balance seems strange.

OLTL will survive past AMC for simple economic reasons. 1 it comes in way under budget, so much so that they're able to shot so far in advance that the studio can shut down which must turn into massive savings for ABC as far as union and insurance dues are concerned. 2. They turn a profit regardless of their budget. Basically a double win because not only are they making money but their finding ways to save money without sacrificing cast or look of the show. That show will go nowhere as long as it runs well and makes money.

I don't think Jessica has been the same since BW was cast. She's not believable as a good heroine. She's insincere and syrupy.

Stacey is the obvious one to blame for ratings loss, but I put a lot of blame on Todd. He did terrible things last year. And there was NO payoff. Half the time, they expected the viewers to see Todd as the victim. Todd is now playing mind games with Tea, and we're hearing Viki, who used to be the show's moral center, encouraging her sociopathic, rapist brother into a romance. Meanwhile Blair is sitting in a hospital bed, pouting and pining, while John angsts with Marty. Does anyone care about John and Marty? Is this why they brought Marty back?

Stories also have no payoff. What was the point of David being a Buchanan? What happened to Natalie's rivalry with Jessica?

Wednesday is gonna be low in ratings for B&B and ATWT. The shows were pre-empted there in a lot of places that day.

Whoever believed that someone with talent like Martha Madison and Lindsay Hartley and even Liza Huber would still be without jobs while Eric Martsolf, Galen Gering, and Brandon Beemer who are somewhat talented but often uneven are the ones with jobs.

Simple: Beemer, Gering, and Martsolf look better with their shirts off. I suppose the 3 ladies could show up shirtless but that would have to be on something X-rated, or at least NC-17 :P

I only remember her from Melrose Place. Not a porn afficionado. I always think it's funny when these posters talk about porn stars like they're scum. Who is watching this?

I've met multiple porn stars, and they're always very nice gentlemen. I'm sure the ladies are the same way :D:D:D

I think OLTL is safe because of how great it's budget is. The ONLY thing Pratt has done for AMC is stop the hemorraging of viewers, but that if last week is an indication didn't last long.

Even IF OLTL was cancelled, I don't see Frons putting anymore money into AMC, he would put most if not all of it into GH.

I totally disagree. It is the downward turn that first Malone/Griffith's last stint and then Higley's turn that alienated so many fans and drove them away.

It is the same with AMC, it is the downward turn that McTavish and then B&E started the show on that lead to what is happening today.

These writers introduced characters and stories and made mistakes that still have not been fixed that started the alienation and nothing has been done to bring these viewers back.

And the quick fixes that they are trying to do like with the undoing of the Josh stupidity and the unabortion by wiping his character off the slate in 2 days didn't do anything to fix the mess that McTavish did.

When it is all said and done it will be many writers who have contributed to the destruction of these two shows. It is the same way that John Conboy and others will share ultimately in the downfall of Guiding Light.

That is all I'm saying. Instead of trying to improve them, nothing's really happening. The viewers just keep fleeing, and fleeing, and fleeing...
