I have about 5 hours from that story on video tape and I get what was trying to be done and for 1983 it was VERY brave but it turned into even mor eof a cop out than Reece's character--Devon being told she was just confused and projecting, Lynn havign a veyr lonely sad christmas and then being taken off canvas. Times were diff then and the network was scared and really I think they did the best they could (something which isn't true now)_ but still if you want Pratt to aspire to this storyline I'm gonna completely disagree.

I actually kinda buy some of what Pratt is saying (I know it seems no one else agrees with me). The storyline COULD have worked--at least better if it was allowed room to breathe--we got to see more of Reece's familyfor instance, etc.

I have said the exact same thing for years. ABC is not invested in the character of Bianca. They won't want the controversy of writing a long term lesbian story. They don't want vocal fan groups banging on their doors like ATWT has since the Luke/Noah romance started. This is why they haven't recast the role of Bianca. Eden must know this, but she isn't going to kill the golden goose that gives her a sweet deal by saying this out loud. There is no way Pratt could have believed that Eden was staying longer. The story from the start was about Reese which suggests that AMC was laying the ground work to convince TB to stay longer and that didn't work out the way that they hoped and then they got all that negative publicity about the story.

Pardon my lack of 2nd-language-spelling ability here, but there's a Spanish phrase that truly applies to Charles Pratt's most recent interviews (on Jamie Luner, then this one):

En boca serrada no entran las moscas.

It means, "in a closed mouth, flies cannot enter." It's a metaphoric reference to what's waiting inside, and what comes out of, his mouth.

He really needs to control it; he's absolutely obnoxious. The only thing he really accomplishes is embarrassing ABC / AMC by showing what a pompous, chauvanistic ass he really is. It's as if his mind is just a frustrated penis.

I absolutely agree. AMC has not been committed to Bianca's character in years. As far as I can tell the other shows that have done storylines like this have surpassed AMC in many ways. Frons like to see ABC soaps as cutting edge yet he encourages such cowardly and regressive stories and writing.

He really should just stop talking. He comes off terribly everytime he gives an interview.

ITA. It's like when he first returned to GH w/ Guza, and he said he always wrote soaps (and GH) as if it were a movie with a $30 million budget...or some such horsepuck.

Seriously, Pratt, if you want to write a movie w/ a $30 million budget, then go write one! This is daytime. We're happy with just black curtains, decent actors, and stories that make sense.

This is bullshit. Pratt is HW and has a producer credit. He had to have known. He only claims he didn't know about ER's contract because he thinks we're stupid. But everyone knew Eden had a short-term contract. ABC thinks fans don't pay attention to that [!@#$%^&*], so they can get away with saying things like, "oh, but see, we looked up one day and oops! That actor was gone!" This is a business, not a high school project. They know, and they pretend like no one else will. The fact is, he didn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about Bianca. All he cared about was luring Tamara Braun into staying to be paired with TK by pulling a bait and switch with Bianca.

I totally agree with you, but the online fanbase is still the minority. I am sure the majority of fans out there don't know what the hell is going on behind the scenes..... my mom wouldn't have a clue unless I filled her in....

Wow Nelson Branco actually called out Prass on his comments, I think I might be getting a new respect for NB, I'm glad someone called Prass out on this.

The Suds Report asked the maligned head writer if he would like to clarify or retract his quotes, but he declined — even the offensive angry lesbian jab.

I wonder if ABC muzzled Pratt, could they be preparing to do some damage control? The backlash I'd imagine cannot be pretty

    • Oups!! I guess when i was doing the editing, i left a part of 3169, too (RTL Lounge airs 2 episodes per day back to back). Sorry about that ! Tonight i ll try to record 3171-3172. If i m not mistaken 3172 is missing from YouTube.

    • I would put Felicia in the 'small dose' auntie category because she means well, but comes on too strongly at times.  In small doses, she would be a blast to hang out with.. but in anything larger than a small... she would be exhausting. I tend to prefer lower key people than people that are always 'on' all the time.  Those people can veer off into energy vampire status pretty quickly.
    • I didn't like the Harry story, but Nazar did have a great introduction. He was probably the highlight of last year.  Now that you mention it, I guess the truly dire stories (Nicole, Harper/Drew/Phil, Nicole) didn't start until summer.
    • thank you all for contributing to the Vault. I am slowly getting towards watching the 1998 episodes

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
