Are Chole and Billy supposed to be a couple? I don't see any feelings for her on his part. This is why I think Chloe's been painted into a corner, because she's become just one of the many women in his life. They could have done more with her place in Cane's life instead of having Cane completely reject her.

You're another balloon-popper :). I fully agree with what you're writing...but I also think he has so much presence and experience...and he might just break through this B&B ceiling. Unlike Eileen Davidson, this is NOT a "holding deal" (till he returns to Y&R), and Diamont seems to having something like a "lifetime contract" because of Bill Bell Sr. If this is true, Brad Bell HAS to use him and make him successful.

I know about the initial pairing you're talking about...but I don't think that will last for any period of time. I am hoping Bill Jr.-Katie (if she is given some fire) or Bill Jr.-Felicia are given a chance. I also hope they let Diamont play his physical assets. For a man in his 40s, he still a work of art.

I agree in one way about this. The other day Chloe was dressed really quite plain, her hair was limp...and I thought "where is the fashionista?".

Which I think is the point. "Chloe as cat" is a great metaphor.

She's going to come out swinging soon. But remember, she is Billy's "stalker". So she IS pathetic where he is concerned.

I don't see Chloe-Billy as a romantic couple. But I see them as totally-connected-in-larceny. I see them as partners. That is more than enough.

I think Chole and Billy are supposed to be a highly unconventional and volatile young couple. From what the writing has inferred, Billy's heart and sense of self was severely damaged once he found out he was related to Mac and could no longer be with her. It seems he's been using women, money, and other superficial things to fill the void Mac's left in his life. I think he has some feelings for Chole, but no one is ever going to measure up to Mac for him. I think she will play into his life heavily when she returns soon, as well as in other storylines.

Same thing here: I don't see them as a couple, just because Billy will always look at Chloe as a stalker, plus it's too obvious he has absolutely no feelings for her, but she does for him. Even when it seemed like he cared for her, it was actually all about the baby. So they'll need to find Chloe something else to do in a few weeks, right?

Seeing as how Billy already has his hands full with Chloe, Sharon and soon Mac, this would be the perfect chance to send Cane and Lily packing. I wouldn't even notice they're gone; I'd just suddenly feel that the quality of the show has gone up.

[quote name='YRBB' date='Mar 19 2009, 04:02 PM' post='696563'See?

But, seriously... David Tom/Ash Bashioum.... Really? Or their current incarnations?

Bashioum. God, I didn't like her. At all.

I'm OK with Chloe, though. As long as her neuroses are held under certain... Level.

I don't think MAB should fire either of her Co-HWs (I can't believe I'm writing positively about Scott Hamner, but Joan Collins liked him...so hey!)...I love Y&R as it is right now.

When it comes to Louise Sorel: she and Paul had a fast and loose affair that ended very badly when she was at OLTL (from 86-87 I believe)...when her contract came up for renewal he fired her. Although I love Louise, she is known for sometimes being difficult for producers/directors to deal with. She has very definite ideas about what's 'right'...but very well liked by her co-stars.

Mark, I agree with much of your post with a few exceptions. I like that they play their vets and respect that the older characters get heavy story. They are definitely trying tp please the loyal fans of the three core families. Still, there are some fan bases and vets being totally ignored. I know most people like Lauren and Michael used just as they are, but I think it is a waste of CLB when Michael is becoming the John Silva of the show. His sole purpose is to bail his family (excluding his wife and son) out of their continual messes and show up in court once in awhile to shuffle papers. I also have a real problem when Lauren is only used to support her family and yet during a big family story she has been not shown for three weeks, and only had two appearances in five weeks. That is poor use of Lauren and Kevin's history and poor use of the talents of a good actress.

Paul has been matched with Nikki and yet we never see it being played on screen because they rarely use Doug Davidson. What's the point of matching them up if their relationship is never shown on screen? How hollow is it when Nikki says that she and Paul are serious? The Winters story is hit and miss. I don't particularly like the Neil/Karen/Tyra story but you have to tell the beats of a story. They are on one week and off the next. I still have no clue why Neil would risk his family, marriage and reputation for Tyra. I can't understand how we went from Neil not being sure about adopting Anna to being days away from adopting her. They were in a rush to get to the sex and conflict but the story was built poorly.

And where has all the romance gone? Every single couple is cheating except for Michael and Lauren and JT and Victoria and we never see them on screen. Couples don't make love, they screw. I have no problem with this happening with some couples, but every couple is excessive.

I think they can play their core characters heavily yet still fit in some story for their supporting veterans. They can have their affairs and mental illnesses, but give us some lightness. They can have their hot sex and one night stands, but give us some romance and a couple in love making love once in awhile.

    • This is wonderful! Thank you for posting this! I loved the first two seasons and never got to see the final season when they cancelled the DVD release. I've been hoping this popped up on streaming but no luck. Happy I'll finally get to see how it ended!

    • In case it is of interest to anyone here, I have digital copies (computer files, mp4 etc.) of all of the episodes. And, besides having the files they are all up on my usual video hosting site, acct name: shallotpeel, channel it is in: Primetime Soaps and file names like  Flamingo Road S1E15 Hurricane Flamingo Road was a primetime soap on NBC by Lorimar Productions. 2 seasons. 1980-1982. Morgan Fairchild, Barbara Rush. Developed by Rita Lakin.
    • Arguably DAYS OF OUR LIVES has been brilliant lately & definitely was last week. But, here I am with nitpick & technicalities. This was the only misstep but it was just a stupid thing that should have been caught. Deidre Hall as Marlena has this one problematic line, "It didn't matter how many identities you had, I always knew exactly who you were, you were the man who saved my life." - Marlena, DAYS, 6-2-25 Unfortunately the flashback closest to it was when Marlena was on the phone, terrified because she thought he was Stefano. Yes, it's true that the line is not accurate. There were many times when she did not feel the way she is claiming because of whatever was going on in story with his 'retconned to hell & back' identity & origin story. Does it keep the whole week from being called excellent? Nope.

    • I decided this primetime soap deserved it's own thread as the Primetime soaps thread is very cluttered and why shouldn't NBC's Lorimar soap mot have a chance to shine? In doing a deeper dive into the second season ratings I was surprised to see that FR actually had an uptick in the ratings when NBC moved it to 9pm Tuesdays beginning March 82. I'd always assumed this move was a desperate one as NBC were running short of programming and had given up on the show, deciding to let the final episodes play out and be hammered by 3's Company  and CBS Movie. But the numbers paint a different story. In it's 10pm slot up against Hart to Hart, which regularly finished in the Top 20, FL premiered in 53rd place and placed in the 40's and 50's as the season continued. But come January 82 the numbers surged a little now moving into the 40's hitting #43 in Feb. Hart to Hart was #11 Then in March Bret Maverick was moved to 8pm with FR @9. First week 16th March FR #47 15.1/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Not great but #2 in it's timeslot March 23 FR #44 15.6/25 3's Company #4 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #33 So even with a stronger movie on CBS FR's numbers went up. March 30 FR #31 16.6/26 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #56 Best rating/position yet Tues April 6 pre empted Tues April 14 FR #36 16.0/26 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #11 CBS Movie #59 Maintaining previous week's numbers Tues April 21 FR #33 15.6/24 3's Company #3 Too Close for Comfort #5 CBS Movie #60 Numbers down a little (reflecting general spring downturn) but best ranking of the season so far Tues April 28 FR #35 15.1/23 3's Company #9 Too Close for Comfort #6 CBS Movie #42 Tues May 4 FR #27 15.2/24 3's Company #5 Too Close for Comfort #4 CBS Movie #41 Season finale and highest position of the season. Looking at those numbers I wonder why NBC cancelled the show? They had very few hits and here was a show that was holding it's own and moving up in the rankings in a tougher timeslot. And being a serial, the storylines could continue to build the following season. And I'm sure the desirable W18-49 demo was good. Some might argue that CBS were shower weaker movies, but even so, soap viewers are pretty loyal. I guess Grant Tinker arrived at NBC and wanted a classier look but there was room for FR on the schedule. I mean, the following season Knight Rider,Powers of Matthew Star and the A Team arrived so there was still room for more populist fare. Flamingo could have stayed at 9pm-the replacement Gavilan bombed (surely FR would have done better} or moved back to 10pm. The following Jan NBC had a hit with A Team Tues 8pm. Had Flamingo followed it, it might have really taken off. As it was they tried Bare Essence, which flopped. Oh well,it was not to be...
    • Always, in every way, Cass/Wally/Felicia foundational to my viewing. And, I think if we look at the aftermath of the disastrous 90 minute show that we find too many pockets of some kind of lost time at the show plus way too much of change-ups in exec & writing leadership and of course we also reach the first time it becomes notable that NBC wants to get rid of the show so they can put a new soap they own in the timeslot.
