"I'm sure Lee is a nice guy but he always seemed off-pitch to me, and like he wasn't quite sure why he was there."

+1 Nice guy, but I always got that impression too. When he won last night it almost seemed like it wasn't THAT big of a deal to him, I guess he was in shock. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think he's going to be one of the more memorable winners.

"Guarini appeared late in season 2. He sang Unchained Melody, a day after Clay had sung it, so he was kind of overshadowed."

Wow, you'd think someone would have worked that out. That's Simon's favorite song too.

Was anyone else surprised to see how silly Simon was being in those skits?

I always hated the way they would mention that, especially Pauler. Any time someone auditioned with it, it was always "Ohhh, that's Simon's favorite song!" as Simon stands there with that perpetual sour look on his face. Were the contestants under more scrutiny because they had to make Simon like it or did they have it easy because it's Simon's favorite song, and therefore, he'll enjoy no matter how bad it's being sung? Always made me shake my head.

Anybody know if there's a complete list of who all took part in the all-star performance? Different places are saying that different people weren't there. Obviously, Phat Kracka wasn't in it, and I didn't see 'Tention Ho in there anywhere either, but they couldn't have been the only ones. Nine seasons of Top 12's means that 108 people were supposed to be on that stage (109 because of last season's Top 13), which, even without Dave and Adam, is...pretty gargantuan.

What?! Did you watch the same show as I did? It wasn't like he said, "Thanks Ryan... that's good to hear. Yay, for me. Bye."

Lee has been such a shy guy from the very beginning. Shy people have trouble showing emotions, especially on a stage like the Idols have been performing on for the live shows. To go up in the final and stand on that big stage with all those people in front of you must be pretty intimidating for anyone, and for Lee who's kind of been fighting to break out of all season. He improved so much during these live performaces. So when he realized he won the whole d*mn thing he was clearly in shock, got tears in eyes, had trouble forming a full sentence and basically had dificulties speaking.

I guess you have this opinion of him because he wasn't jumping up and down smiling and screaming? That was never gonna happen with Lee. He's unsure of what to do in certain situations. An obvious sign of this was when Ryan said his name and it hit him and didn't know what to do and looked over at Crystal. And later all he could say was "Oh my God" repetitively.

No, you're right, I should have worded that better Cheyenne. What I meant is that he wasn't as demonstrative, as outwardly ecstatic as other winners have been which isn't to say that it wasn't an honor to win, we all react differently. But what it speaks to is that *thing* Kara was always talking about, his inwardness that at times makes it hard for the audience to relate to him, the impression that they aren't invited in.

Yeah ok, I understand. But the reason he's reacting the way he does is because he's unsure kind of himself, a really shy person. That's not something you can get rid of in a couple of months. he's way more "open" now though compared to how he was in the beginning.

I think he's a perfect example of the average person, you know what I mean? And I do think many people "took him in" because perhaps they saw something in his personality they can relate to. :)

American Idol to air now on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I hope Criminal Minds fairs well with AI against it. Thursday is already packed with CSI...The Big Bang Theory and The Mentalist and Grey/s Anatomy.

    • Yes, they did.  I still have them.  I think there were three.  AMC and GH as well.
    • Ah okay, thats what I thought. I was hoping I missed the announcement somewhere. Thanks for the clarification.
    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.
