^Yeah, unless they meant ABC was on the fence about renewing the show, but relented at the last minute.

Anyway, Lisa de Cazotte is an executor. She knows how to execute the vision of her HW very thoroughly. She proved this on Passions and again on GH: Night Shift. Maybe she can help execute Pratt's plans in a more efficient manner. I wonder if Pratt and Carruthers get along, could it be he suggested a EP replacement at AMC to Frons?

I don't see how this is going to be any big change, but you never know. Maybe Frons sees something in de Cazotte that he likes. Honestly, I don't think it will impact the show all that much, maybe the execution of the material will be better though.

You're right, something doesn't gel with this news...ABC doesn't 'renew' their soaps. The only thing they'd renew would be a contract regarding the studio space and in the case of AMC that's not an issue since it, like OLTL, is taped at the ABC Broadcast Center in New York.

I do hope it's Carruther's that's getting fired and replaced by LDC, she's a very capable EP who has a 'vision'...something that I feel JHC does not.

While I don't like to see anyone lose his or her job, especially in this economic climate, it's time for a change at AMC. JHC has brought nothing to the show. Under her reign we got an unabortion and the murder by pancakes of one of the most beloved characters in the show's history (Dixie). Enough is enough. It's time to take the trash out.

ETA: I know that these were McTavish's stories. But I don't think any of us believe that these would have come to fruition if Behr or James were at the helm.

Actually Julie and Chuck get along very well. They used to work on Santa Barbara together. The thing is the executive producer before Julie Carruthers which was Jean Dadario Burke was even worse. She was known as a very weak executive producer with absolutely no vision whatsoever. Julie is a bit better but not really a huge visionary. She is not Wendy Riche I will tell you that. AMC had to do all these big cuts but OLTL had no cuts. In fact Farah Fath said on Michael Fairman's website that OLTL has no cuts because they are under budget. Frank Valentini has kept the budget in check bigtime and the show does look very good considering their budget is small. OLTL did not have any cuts at all. It has done better then AMC all year and cheaper to produce.

    • Jenn was a huge part of the success of Days back in the day, and that contribution shouldn't be dismissed.  With that said, I do think her and Jack's time on the show should remain as occasional visits/drop ins. When Missy returns to play Jenn, Jenn is back to being Jenn.   Jenn in her glory days was head strong, fiesty, and was a live wire.... and her scenes with Jack on Friday was classic Jenn with Jack being the voice of reason.   It was the foundation of their relationship back in the day.
    • Claire was always tightly wound, I think what Long was going to do is to throw the three into this impossible situation with no bad guys, Mo, knowing how to take care of kids from growing up but unable to conceive and Claire, who didnt know how to take care of kids and was totally focused on her career, gets knocked up.  Ryder took Claire off the deep end as a convenient way to make story for characters he wasnt interested in (though Pratt blames McTavish) with little effort. It was later explained to be a brain tumor (though why was she a bitch again when she returned?) \ Claire did sleep with Rick, she was his first!
    • I'm sorry, truly I am, but this literally made me LOL. Tempting fate, much?

    • Oh, I have very little doubt that Missy feels some way personally and privately.  Donna was just saying she actively spoke out against Days in public in reference to the gay storylines, which she did not. I don't have super strong feeling about Jen one way or another.  She was always a side character to me.  I still think Missy is Jen regardless of her stupid beliefs.
    • I hated the swap-over; Clayton Norcross, to me, was far superior in the role of Thorne than Jeff Trachta ever was. And the recast left me disliking Thorne when he was the superior son to me. As for Teri Ann Linn, I feel like she got the raw deal. Kristen was very clear as a forefronting character, especially in her rivalry with Stephanie, and it feels like she was dropped off for Felicia, and they never returned it. Not to mention the subpar recast with Tracy Melchior in 2001. Someone like Brenda Epperson (ex-Ashley, Y&R) would've been more suited for that role.
    • I just remember when Leo was marrying Craig (?), Greg Rikaart stated a line and made direct eye-contact with Melissa Reeves, and when the camera cut to her, she looked away.

Rikaart had a mission that day, and he succeeded.
