If that's the case the sloppy way this was handled is even more baffling to me. Then again after Comey I shouldn't be surprised.

I'm pretty sure someone from the intelligence community probably "leaked" this as they probably feel pissed at Trump for diminishing them. I guess this is the stage where they plan to 'give as good as they get'.

Sad but why would we expect any better than this seeing how racist and troll-ish the Trump campaign has acted all throughout?  What can you say of a candidacy that relied on Wikileaks? This is what the U.S. democracy has descended into. Is anyone surprised? I cannot even feign shock at this moment.

It's very concerning to realize just how reactionary so much of our intelligence community is. It's even more concerning that Comey seems to be so lost at sea. Hoover was a nightmare but at least he had a firm hand. I wonder how many of the same people who went after Hillary were in on this.

Probably why the Commander-In-Chief is supposed have a cool head. There are all different types in the intelligence community, as there are in the Military, the Police Department or any walk of life. Yes, there should be certain parameters but within any organization you have people of various temperaments.

I went to the livestream to see local news and Trump is still talking and it is a chaotic rambling mess. So disheartening to see. I don't mean to be dramatic but I think this country is in trouble.

Of course we are. And Putin IMO already achieved what he wanted which was to make the US look like a blithering mess to the world by putting this idiot in charge. And forget our stature. I am terrified this nutcase is going to unleash a nuclear bomb on his own country.

The worse part of this is he came out again attacking the intelligence community and praising Russia which just means the leaks will continue and our stature around the world continue to disintegrate.

Putin couldn't have dreamed that taking over this country would be so easy and so cheap.

Nobody actually ever "released" this information to the general public.

It was leaked (and most likely with a pointed purpose), which actually makes a difference.

ETA: I missed the press conference today. After such a late night and early rising this morning, I couldn't imagine trying to actively seek a livestream to listen to all of that! Nope.

From what I saw on the live feed, it was bizarre.  There was some representative there, supposedly from an accounting team, that talked to how Trump was going to remove any conflicts of interest as far as his business goes, all the while spouting off "Make America Great Again" bullshit.

The less said about the "Q&A", the better.  In short, he didn't answer any question directly and the press didn't call him on it.

I don't even think it's about taking over. It's about making the US weak by getting an idiot as president in place. Bush was bad but even he didn't turn on the intelligence community or the press even with criticism. All Putin has to do now is sit back and watch all of this play out. We could disintegrate in front of the world with no one lifting a finger now.

Not exactly true. The last reporter brought up his tax returns twice. That's when he really got agitated and ended the conference. The first two engaged in the usual knob slobbering.

Jim Sciutto: CNN's reports Trump spokesman told him he'll be kicked out of future press confs if he presses hard for ques again

He was pretty aggressive. I know a lot of people hate the press but I find Trump's efforts to control and intimidate them very concerning.

The media enabled Trump during the campaign by reporting non-stop on everything negative about Clinton, while not reporting on Trump's various issues. If there is a media crackdown, the media is to blame.

The press conference was a joke....is it me or has the press ever acted that way? I mean they are usually quiet with other Presidents but with Trump they were a hot mess. The whole news conference reminded me of this episode of the GG
