I'll always remember an interview Joe did shortly after he declared where he talked about Beau and said, "Beau should be the one running for president right now, not me." It was such a gut punch because it made me realize how much Joe was looking forward to seeing what his son would accomplish and how that wound can never fully heal.

That's one of the reasons my own mother doesn't like her. Of course, it's a double standard - people didn't react much with the many sexual escapades of the MEN in elected office throughout history. The other reason my mom doesn't like Kamala Harris is because she sees her as a flaming liberal, like AOC and others and thinks the country will fall into socialism. I don't want the country to fall into socialism, either, but I also don't want it to become an autocracy.

Going through that AOC interview was difficult. She sounded extremely wounded and was lashing out, not helped by that conference call with Abigail Spanberger going after the left being leaked a few days ago. The interview also led to a spat with Conor Lamb (PA Congressman) and his people. I think AOC never quite has known how to handle the fame thrown at her or the harsh realities of legislating, especially in current DC/America. And for all the taunting of some on Rose Twitter about the incredible success of socialist Dems in Congress, this election really shut the door on them having any ability to do anything, not to mention Democrats will have a difficult time keeping the House in 2022. I get the feeling AOC wants to go but doesn't want to fully say it yet. She probably will sometime next year.

Given Ilhan Omar's difficult background, I am not surprised that she seems to be more adept at navigating this environment than AOC. It's a shame that Omar is, IMO, a big grifter, because she probably did play a key role in helping Biden with Minnesota.

There's a world of hurt headed AOC's way over the next few weeks. Abagail Spanaberger finally said out loud what so many of us think, which is that the far left costs us more than they get us. AOC's already acting out on Twitter against Democrats and the Lincoln Project and she's about to get checked hard especially by Black Twitter.

She's going to go whether she wants to or not because her district will be redrawn. It's the same thing that happened to Dennis Kucinich. He was my rep and a good one for a long time. Then he climbed up his own ass and started chasing the spotlight and other Democrats decided he wasn't worth the trouble.

I think AOC should've waited a few days before unloading like that to the Times and blowing off steam from a volatile week. It was stupid. For me, the fact is both sides of the party need each other and need to work their districts in a mix of different ways. A lot of what she says in that interview is correct IMO, but it's also real that Spanberger and the moderates have valid concerns and issues. What works for, say, Spanberger's constituency on messaging will not work for AOC's, and vice versa. It's reality that certain words are poison to a lot of our more moderate voter base. But some of the techniques AOC and co. have applied locally can work in redder/purple states too. I am very tired of hearing how we need to always kowtow to the scared moderates, but I am also very tired of the left flank giving the Beltway ammo for Dems in Disarray at every turn and not accepting that different states have different audiences and needs. That's what shít like this does.

That's as far as I take this whole thing, and that's as far as I think it'll go tbh. Do I believe she'll quit - no. Unlike some others, AOC is usually shrewd enough to know that she needs to work with the party heads. Unlike Omar who subtweeted her way through it and dogged Warren, AOC was out there putting down the Bernie or death flank in March and telling them to get on track with the party and face the reality of incremental progress. I appreciated that. So I suspect she'll cool off, Pelosi will come collect her again, there will be more Happy Family House photo ops in the next 2-3 weeks and we'll get to work. YMMV. If she digs deeper, I'll check her then.

Also, @Juliajms, I am sorry for your loss. I know all too well how that kind of loss feels.

I'm disappointed that my family voted for Trump - knowing who and what he is (and isn't). I never even told them I voted for Biden. I just told them that I was not voting for Trump. Besides the fact that his personality is a major turnoff, he looked the other way during this pandemic and he separated migrant families and would not denounce racism - a major part of why I dislike him so much is the way he treats women. When I started therapy after being sexually abused (Trump was already in office by then), I vowed never to waste my vote on a man who would do and say the things to women that he does. So, I see Joe Biden's triumph a win for women as well. ☺

    • When I was a kid, I would watch DOOL with my mom. I remember Denise as Susan so well. And later, of course, on GH. How sad to hear she has passed. RIP.
    • I have to dig that scene up on YT. I'm glad they gave them some kind of happy ending, even if it was really late. Interesting! I remember Justin and Sarah being involved, but I either forgot or never caught their backstory. The girl with money and social position of course turns out to be Jackie. He sort of did to Sarah what Vanessa did to his brother! I do remember Justin started out as not the greatest guy. Kind of a horn dog. It's only when Ross comes on that he becomes the "good" brother. I only have some vague memories of Ben and Hope, mostly of when they were in a positive relationship. He certainly changed over time. "Chill" would be the way I would describe Ben (along with "handsome but kind of a yawn") for most of his time on GL, so hearing he once had a violent temper is very surprising.
    • Yes. That's called good writing.
    • interesting idea.  That makes sense, as MVJ seems to have set up each character development (traits) for future plot developments.
    • I really enjoyed today's episode. It showcased a lot of the other cast and I saw hints of storyline potential (Smitty & Bill). Martin definitely has some anger issues and I recall him being overly scared about protecting his family and having all the doors locked, coming out of one of his "dreams". There's obviously a lot going on there and I can't wait to find out more. I'm thinking June is going to be more than just the issue story of the week. I think she just might be related to one or more of our main characters. As for Tomas, yes, Alex Alegria is not the strongest actor, but he's pretty to look at and he emotes something. I'm just not sure what that something is yet.
    • No. Absolutely No. I don't know who this is... since it's just some random Twitter quote... But NO. The only parallel between OG Caroline's leukemia and Liam's tumor... is that they are both having cancer. That's it. Other than that... I see absolutely no similarities.  Caroline hid her sickness almost till the last moment. She was also giving the viewers signs that she is not well for days if not weeks before the diagnosis. It was not like Liam... falling down and hitting his head on a table and bam he has a tumor. Caroline's storyline broke our hearts, because of her attempt to live out the rest of her days with dignity and grace. It was written slowly and with care. What we are seeing right now with Liam is the complete opposite. It's begging the viewers for empathy and cheap tears. It's so in your face and trashy... I can't believe they are using cancer for something like this. Bradley Bell should never do terminal stuff again in his stories. It's borderline offensive to people who actually have lost relatives to cancer. To me it is.
    • I was thinking that June could be Kat's mother and Eva is Nicole and Ted's.
    • You won't even miss her because Nola will be dominating the show till Raven comes back. Literally... there will be no boring second. Nola is just starting. You won't believe what will follow. Haha. And then as soon as that storyline is finishing up, Raven is back in top form.
