Thanks @DramatistDreamer. I wasn't sure whether to bring it to this thread because it isn't a domestic-US incident, though it does have huge global repercussions.

Shocking that the bomb was so powerful that many victims simply evaporated into thin air when it hit.

Oh but it does!  Much like what happened in the Niger region, Trump has changed course on the policies that had been in place there and we're likely looking at the tragic results of that policy change to a more capricious strategy.

It is absolutely horrendous what has happened to the victims. It is likely that it will only be the African Union that steps in to help try and remedy the aftermath of the carnage.

Speaking of Africa and Niger. Fanta Fascist still has yet to acknowledge the servicemen who died.

Wasn't the GOP supposed to be all about patriotism and respect for the military?

"Capricious strategy" is right. Trump really pulls it out of his Adderall-riddled ass. And why am I not surprised he was golfing when the bodies were flown home? Why am I not surprised the news outlets are barely talking about it or Mogidishu?

The media probably isn't talking about the Somalian terrorist attack or the soldiers killed in Niger, because they're much too distracted by the endless (and needless) debate about whether we should stand for the National Anthem and pledge of allegiance.

The media just doesn't give a damn, period. They only care about troops and the military for photo ops and video game sequences. Look at how quickly they lost interest in Iraq once it was obvious we weren't conquering heroes.

And as we discuss Iraq, there is another conflict brewing in the Kirkuk area. Government militias moved into the Kurdish region and there have been clashes between government forces and Kurdish forces, as well as the pesh merga.

I couldn't believe it when I actually saw that the Iraqi PM called reports of clashes "Fake News". The fact that he's parrotting Trumpist language alone is a cause for grave concern.

Yes. My God. This is just horrifying.

This is the guy that some people think will be in office for seven years.

I think it's at least possible he will, absolutely.  His approval ratings are awful, but that doesn't necessarily mean people who will lean right will vote left.  I can't forget how easily he decimated the Republican nominees either.

Maybe he won't be able to hold it together another three years, but fool me once and all that.

I don't really expect people who lean right to vote left but there is definitely a contingent that would just sit out that election. They may vote party line down the rest of the ticket and leave him blank. But honestly I don't see  Donnie even being on the ballot in three years. Between his low ratings, his laziness, the Russia investigation, and his obviously failing health, I'm assuming Pence will be on the ticket. But to be clear, I don't think much about 2020 at all. Three years is a long time and our country is dangerously destabilized.

I think he would if he could.

Bubbles would do anything to purge himself of his shame over his sexuality.

I'm with Julia.  I'm resigning myself (reluctantly, of course) to the possibility that Trump will be there 'til 2024.  Of course, I would LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE for God to prove me wrong here. ;)
