Four years later, the IRS tea party scandal looks very different. It may not even be a scandal.

This gives credence to the sentiment that I had years ago when this 'scandal' broke- that the I.R.S. was likely a woefully understaffed and highly inefficient institution and had been so for at least a  decade leading up to 2013.

Unfortunately, the right will find some way to discredit these findings and continue pushing the narrative that the Obama administration waged battle against the Tea Party and other conservatives.

And still is right? I believe I've read something about the Republicans keeping that way on purpose, but I can't swear to it.

One of the best pieces of hard investigative journalism I've read in years. A must-read:

Likely, it's still a mess but much like the deficit, it is something the GOP doesn't care all that much to talk about.

Even when asked about this latest story, a few tried to center their argument, saying the IRS specifically targets groups that express a POV, (implying liberal as well as conservative) as if that was what they meant to say all along. Yeah...right.

Cognitive dissonance. Some people are so committed to this.

I liken this to the raging homophobes who are then caught 'tapping' signals in the men's bathroom stall.

:D How do they even know what the signals are? smh

Watching several 'liberal' journalists and bloggers get outed as secret sources/pals with Milo as fallout from the above Buzzfeed piece is grimly entertaining.

The least surprising for me, somehow, is NY Mag's Olivia Nuzzi, who inbetween some good work has had a somewhat odd path to her career and used to get very, very angry about Hillary Clinton. The Buzzfeed piece doesn't cite her, but she apparently appears in several email chains and tweets chatting happily with Milo, Ann Coulter, etc. (who she calls 'a goddess') I just never trusted her.

Meanwhile:
