I don't usually agree with Chris Wallace - and by "don't usually," of course, I mean "hardly ever" - but what he said recently on Colbert was the truth: the news business has become just that - a business.  Corporations and such have figured out how to monetize the news; and in the process, they have crippled this country - politically, socially, ethically and morally.  It's not about delivering a public service anymore; it's about beating "Survivor" or "Big Brother" in the female demographics.

Again, say what you will about Bill and Hillary, but at least they knew how to get in the ring with the GOP and fight.  Now, it seems Democrats stay on "going high" while going nowhere at the same time.

As a tennis fan, I can appreciate the nuanced take on this situation that the tennis governing bodies have instituted in allowing Belarusian and Russian players to compete, but as neutral players. I am beginning to see rumours (British spelling because the origin of the rumour is British) that certain high profile Russian players could be banned from playing Wimbledon unless they publicly disavow Putin but I am dubious as to the validity of this.

I think it makes more sense to allow the athletes in as neutral competitors and give them access to uncensored news coverage whenever possible.

I see your point because I haven't seen news coverage where athletes are pro-Putin so far. I have watched news stories about nationalism in Russia and how (yet again) false news continues to be posted on social media sites (specifically Facebook). As human beings, we're all products of chance and we're born into a country by chance. Russian athletes shouldn't be barred from participating in sporting events they're completely powerless over unless they're advocates of Putin and nationalism. To me, it doesn't send a good message. After all, be a good sport, right?

People love to blame this on Obama, but it's been an issue far longer than him. And Obama, though he did make some mistakes, had the right idea on Fox - to freeze them out completely. But Jake Tapper and most of the regular media cried foul and Obama had to walk it back. They should've stuck to it and it should be done again, because Fox is ten times worse today (and it was awful then).

Media Bias Fact Check: The Guardian

Oh, goodness. People are so dumb. Well over here, you've got white supremacists, so ethnocentrism seems to come in all ugly shapes and sizes. Still, that 20-year-old gymnast doesn't speak for all Russian marathon runners. Hell, if I ran miles on end to prepare for a marathon and then to tell me I'm barred from running because of a 20-year-old dumb ass, then I'd be super pissed. That dumb ass clown don't speak for me.

As I have said, I can only speak for the sport of tennis, as a fan. I cannot speak for other sports. Tennis has a code of conduct, the chair umpires and officials are multi-lingual, they can tell when someone is cursing in Serbo-Croatian or Greek or Russian, so they are fairly up to date (or learn quickly) whenever a player is participating in offensive speech or behavior. Players get penalized. I have a hard time imagining a tennis player getting away with what that Russian gymnast got away with. The Ukrainian tennis players have been very vocal in what they expect from the governing bodies and those bodies seem to have shown sensitivity. I often have complaints about how  the sport of tennis is run but not on this issue. In a sport where there is a history of bad behavior, systematic doping ins particular sport and/or event, then, I would understand if they banned athletes in those cases.

‘Maybe there are some issues with marathon or long-distance runners? The Boston marathon might have some type of specific concern?

On the one hand, watching Peter Doocy get schooled on just about everything is like the early Christmas present that keeps on giving all year 'round.

Meanwhile, you better BELIEVE I'm happy to see KBJ confirmed to SCOTUS.  If only because Clarence Thomas' worst nightmare - having to work with a Black woman again - has finally come true.

    • Very. They're building up his story again and picking the perfect time to do so. As the SilkPress storyline climaxes and go off in several great directions, they are building up that story to take a turn.

    • @Soapsuds Thanks for posting Night by night Mon 8pm The Rookies edged Gunsmoke but attracted younger(more desirable) viewers.NBC failed with Born Free/Smothers Brothers (how many different series did those 2 get??) 9-11pm  Maude/Rhoda/Medical Center dominated on CBS,but Football and Movies were competitive on an occasional basis. ABC tried  SWAT/Caribe later in the season and the former worked for them. Tues 8-11 pm CBS all the way Good Times, MASH, Hawaii Five O,Barnaby Jones. NBC had the fading Adam 12,Movie and Police Story mmm...don't see that listed? ABC Happy Days, which ABC decided to keep despite lackluster ratings, the Movie of the Week and Marcus Welby-once pulling big numbers but no longer. 8pm NBC had a new hit with Little House, easily beating Sons and Daughters, which was axed and replaced with Tony Orlando, which did much better. ABC had That's My Mama and the Wed movie. 9pm Cannon was the lead here as Lucas Tanner failed to capitalize on the LHOTP leadin. ABC continued the movie. 10pm Manhunter started strong for CBS but petered out and was cancelled. Petrocelli manged to beat Get Christie Love, which was replaced by Baretta-no ratings winner but ABC decided to renew. Thurs Another CBS night with The Waltons and a movie. ABC counterprogrammed with Odd Couple/Paper Moon then Barney Miller/Karen NBC did even worse with Sierra and replaced it with Mac Davis which improved ratings quite a bit. However, it was moved to 9pm for Sunshine/Bob Crane 9pm Some good numbers for ABC with Streets of San Francisco fending off Ironside,Archer and Mac Davis. 10pm Harry O had a slim victory over Movin On Fri 8-11 NBCs best night Sanford/Chico/Rockford/Police Woman. 8pm CBS had high hopes for Planet of the Apes but it bombed. Replacement Khan did even worse. Paul Sand and We'll Get By were tossed in at the end of the season. With poor lead ins the Friday movie didn't deliver. ABC's odd line up saw Kodiak flop, Six Million dollar Man struggle and Texas Wheelers  quickly cancelled. Kung Fu was brought in @8 and Six Million moved to 9. Then Kolchak took over at 8 and Hot*l Baltimore/Odd Couple 9-10. Despite controversy Hot*l flopped. 10pm ABC tried Kolchak then Baretta and finally Get Christie Love Sat CBS lead  with #1 AITF then Paul Sand/MTM/Bob Newhart/Carol Burnett. Paul Sand lost too much of the lead in so CBS spun off The Jeffersons and it was a smash. NBC did OK with Emergency (which beat Paul Sand on occasion, thus hastening that show's demise) and a movie. ABC was a disaster with New Land/Kung Fu and Nakia all failing. They introduced a movie @9 and moved Kung Fu to 8. Sun  NBC  with Disney and Mystery Movie (Columbo McCloud, MacMillan and Wife/Amy Prentiss)did well. ABC flopped with Sonny Bono and recovered by moving Six Million Dollar Man from Fri as a lead in to the movie. CBS hoped Apples Way would be another Waltons but no, so Cher did what Sonny couldn't. Kojak and Mannix successfully finished out the night. Two other shows on the ratings list were Adams of Eagle Lake starring Andy Griffith. Only 2 episodes aired and did well, so I'm not sure what happened there. As for The Law it was a series follow up to a 2 and a half hour NBC special movie .

    • Trust is very easily lost and very hard to re-build.
    • Oh, I know it was. I was just talking about how it's not giving me parallels to Caroline dying. It's really as far from it as possible.  But about the foreshadowing - Hahahhahah. Yes. And you missed one - Liam googling - "what is cancer"...
    • GH 2-17-21 Denise Alexander's last appearance https://www.instagram.com/p/DJdjXgwJ1Ez/
    • @Maxim This Liam dying out of the blue was crafted in a hurry for three reasons: 1. To facilitate JMW's leave 2. To prop Steffy - 'Oh, Steffy has so much grace and moral superiority that she ignored everything that swine HoLo did to tell her for the sake of their daughters. Queen Stephanie would be so proud of her!' 3. Distracting Steffy enough to give Lunacy an easy way to slither into Finn's life. Once Luna discovers that Lame is dying, she'll play that card: 'Dad, life is too short and precious!' If this was an intentional story, we would've had the typical B&B foreshadowing - Liam faceplanting into a bowl of pasta, Lame missing meetings, being forgetful. Instead, Lame does an impulsive quick quit and $B doesn't even care enough to make a single attempt to get him back? Please.
