If the Senate Parliamentarian is an advisory role and can be replaced, as people are saying, then why is she still there? Why all this chaos? Isn't Schumer the Senate leader? Do they need a majority vote or something?

What's the problem? I'm genuinely asking.

If the shoe were on the other foot, Republicans would likely replace her if she were standing in the way of their agenda, no?

The GOP did  just that in the early '00s. My guess is Schumer is afraid but beyond that, Manchin and Sinema and those who hide behind them probably said no, they won't let it happen. One of the reasons I stopped posting in here much is because I was just so disheartened by their stalling and clear hatred  of anything beyond getting more checks in their bank accounts. And it still keeps going.

There are a lot of Senate Dems who are still very committed to norms and not violating them which replacing or ignoring the parliamentarian would require, believing that eventually things will go back to normal if they just appeal to their colleagues' better nature. The Senate is too cozy an environment for a lot of these people who make friends with the opposition inside that cloistered circle and fail to fully accept or acknowledge what the modern GOP really stands for today - and the same goes for a ton of Beltway media.

But I don't believe there are enough Democratic Senators left to blockade real change if Manchin or Sinema bent on key issues; assuming that would be futile because there is always another recalcitrant Senator is IMO wrong. The handful of Dem Senators who are dragging ass on these issues prefer to have Sinemanchin do the work because they don't want to be exposed and forced to vote their conscience; if left vulnerable, they will buckle to the majority will and do what the people want. Which is another reason Manchin hollered like a hit dog when it was reported he wanted to cut the Child Tax Credit - I suspect he'll do anything to avoid being stuck with that blame, which may be leverage going forward.

    • The first couple of days will hold a modicum of interest as we finally see a new setting. The Nice set will probably have a few rooms and a fake looking 'outdoor' area. I'm sure they'll go with the cliched look that screams South of France. Then we will be subjected to endless talky scenes. What little budget there is has probably been put toward paying for the new set. So they'll want to get their money's worth. Meanwhile back in today's GC it's the usual chat fest at restaurants. No one works despite most convos being about business.
    • FALSE!!! She was never cute or precocious or adorable.
    • I’m pretty sure Billy is leaving because at Y&R he will get more episodes per week, more money per episode, a slower production schedule, a new role to tackle and a bigger audience.
    • Just watched her on the GH Live channel on Prime Video last night... she was a cute kid, and then starting growing up, and the allure wore off QUICK!
    • Good God, she literally looks like a wicked witch here. Warts and all.

    • Henry did write Draper as a series but sweet romantic lawyer and had an opportunity with the not too inspired Emily/Kirk plot to change Draper's personality (Ala Jason Quartermaine on GH) but Tony quit a while after that story was resolved which Henry may have know about and Terry Davis got pregnant so he gave them a happily ever after (off screen). But Tony often flubbed his lines too; he didn't come across as a multi talented actor in the vein of Joel Crothers who aced absolutely everything Henry gave him to do.

I am sure Frank's been missing her lisp and singing.
    • I have a feeling if he does return, they will move him on to someone they see as fresher (like Sasha). Just depends on whether ABC folds.
    • Aiyiyiyi!!! Thanks. See that now but what I thought I saw before, obviously, DAYS. These IV drugs I'm taking are killing me. My brain is negatively affected. Things don't taste right. I'm smelling things that are not there. Etc.
    • The only thing is that the Victoria/Ashland wedding of a few summers back felt like months, to me at least. So this summer it's the Dumas fête. I noticed that one of us, ranger1rg, has predicted the following... It could go like that. But it also could be more like a repeat of Victoria/Ashland, only this time, I could see it feeling like the better part a year. (For example, we'll see all of them unpacking their suitcases and choosing several ensembles to wear for several evenings of the party. Then each Y&R regular attending the party gets introduced, plus a few new people, but not Dumas, of course. Then various invitees make speeches to compliment other invitees. Blah, blah, blah... And ultimately, we may or may not see Dumas on camera at some point.) The only prediction I feel really comfortable making is that the length of the party will NOT be a "happy medium."
