I am no Andrew Cuomo fan never have been, but it's kind of nice to see the constant attacks by the media on Cuomo while ignoring DeSantis, Abbott, and Noem hasn't really had an impact. Most people don't want Cuomo to resign. Yes his popularity has suffered and people don't want him to run again, but the resignation push is not working.  And of course the headline again an eyeroll.

Cuomo Has Lost Popularity, but Half of N.Y. Voters Say He Shouldn’t Resign - The New York Times (nytimes.com)

I wish the article addressed the reason the Biden administration is refusing to give our extra vaccines to Mexico. They must have given one and I'd like to hear because this decision doesn't make sense. Maybe they are just waiting until Americans get all the shots they need for political reasons.

The fact that he names this idea "Mexico First" is the first clue of where criticism would go and how it would be framed. Biden's administration, already being attacked 24/7 for its border policies, would be pilloried for prioritizing Mexico over American citizens, whether that is accurate or not.

And of course certain Democrats are happy to pile on, while adding nothing of value:

Politicians are likely reflecting on Al Franken but the average New Yorker is likely reflecting on the possible upheaval in changing the governor (even if for a lieutenant governor that should, in theory, be ready to tackle all the challenges of ascending to the job) during a pandemic, and how this would affect them. TBH, in a "normal" year, the nursing home crisis and the fact that Cuomo has caused political fissures in the Democratic party would likely have been enough to cause Cuomo's ouster, which is a strange irony of the crisis that this pandemic has inflicted. He's had three terms, which matches his father's three term gubernatorial tenure, which is likely one of his legislative goals. He can cross that off the list but come next year, he should abstain from flinging his proverbial "hat in the race" for yet another term. We shall see whether he once again chooses his own political supremacy over the viability of the party he claims to be a part of.

    • BITD I was posting about how interesting it was that Denise had been with this same guy for simply years but they just did not marry - then that year they married!
    • Random takes from this week: - Bill’s been played way too soft by the actor. I just can’t buy him doing anything truly sinister. I wish he had more of that old-school Victor Newman edge. - On characterization: I’m fine with Leslie being shown as a narcissistic and cruel mother—as long as she doesn’t tip into full cartoon villain territory. Dani’s involvement in Nicole’s storyline feels natural to me, and I really like that Martín is such a hothead, which totally clashes with his polished political career. No wonder no one wants to confide in him. Also, I don’t mind Haley’s characterization at all. - I’m still annoyed they dropped the whole lawsuit storyline. That’s why I’m a bit hesitant about getting too invested in the June plot. Also: I can do without another instant-sibling storyline. - Ashley and Derek? Totally fine with them in small doses. That’s the best way to handle those two. - Thank God Ted is getting recast. I honestly couldn’t handle that constant swaying much longer. - Speaking of Ted: maybe I’m in the minority here, but that hotel set is hideous. The oversized boiserie makes everything look flat, and that artwork on the wall? Bland, ugly, and lifeless. - I’m 50/50 on the product placement. On one hand, it’s totally misplaced and campy—especially when it shows up in the middle of emotional scenes. It just feels wrong. But on the other hand… here we are talking about Febreze and Tide. So maybe it is working? I honestly don’t know. - I don’t have any issues with the fashion on the show overall, but André’s wardrobe is just off. Not in terms of style, but size. His tops are way too tight and actually make him look even shorter than he is. Same goes for Smitty. Both of them would seriously benefit from some larger blazers or chunkier sweaters.
