Yup Cruz fleed to a nice warm vacation while the people who voted for him suffer. Yet Beto gets trashed and he's the one checking on senior citizens here in Texas.

He can now fly back, say he was getting his family to safety, and shake his jowls about the unfairness of what his wife and children went through, and so on. And he's already despised so it doesn't really matter - it's still Texas. If he wasn't so incredibly unlikeable he would be made a martyr for this by lunch. Even then some will still try.
