Really I find DD to get hotter as the years go by. He was drop dead sexy back in the day and still is to this very moment IMO.

I just think there are so many other characters with storylines going on right now that they don't know what to do with him. He could be a very interesting character and be part of a major storyline if the writers just used him.

Personally I think him and Phyllis would be hot. But I don't want Phyllis to cheat on Nick for Brad. Maybe they can get separated or w/e but I would hate if they had Phyllis cheat on Nick or vice versa. Phyllis can be self destructive but not to that extent.

LOL. Maybe DD's shorter buzz-cut made his face look smoother.

I did like Sharon & Brad, though. TPTB should play with these two some more... give both Jack and Nick a bit of a reality check. Cause you know Nick knows that Sharon still has feelings for him and could probably get back with her if he really wanted to.

I'm really excited about Kay's book coming out and all the relevations and history being dredged up again. The dementia SL is good too but it hurts to watch sometimes.

I liked yesterday. Yea, the Halloween scenes were filler, but I needed something else this week, and that totally worked for me. It was a nice change of pace, and still leaves me wanting more.

The Eden and Noah scenes were cute and fun--I liked they they got busted and had the moment out on the curb.

Heather is now officially dead to me. She's a loser and her apparent vendetta against the Newmans is just pathetic. She's a little fish in a BIG pond. She's outta her league. The sad thing is that a character like her, if I wrote a soap, would get pummeled and disappear. But that, unfortunately, doesn't look like it's going to happen. I can't root for Heather. At all. She just bothers me with her pathetic self more than I can describe. She's Adrian Korbell 2.0.

Kay and her "memwahs" is good. Jess Walton is really working herself, Jill is conflicted, torn between protecting her mother and her own self interest. I REALLY hope that Katherine's dementia somehow resolves itself. If MAB, SH, HS and PR go forward with this storyline too much further we can kiss Jeanne Cooper goodbye because the character will be effectively useless.

I love how Melody Thomas Scott is playing Nikki. She's in control and is looking out for Victor and I am really buying Nick and Victoria as her kids. Thad Luckinbill fits pretty seamlessly into the fold. And again, Amelia Heinle...my mind boggles but she's somehow got Heather Tom's 'dignified bitchery' (someone on YouTube wrote that, it's a great description!) down pat. It took her 3 years but I'll be damned if she hasn't won me over.

Sharon and Brad, as I have always felt, are HOT together. They're both needy people who are made for each other. Hot Hot Hot. C'mon MAB, do it, hook them up. I totally buy them together in the long term. Not a supercouple...but a SLUTERCOUPLE!

I really hope Tonya Lee Williams does a Tracey Bregman take on recurring...she's been a wonderful addition!

Does the lighting on the show seem a little brighter to some of you? It's not tacky, cheap, and like the way Rauch lit other shows, but a little brighter than it was a few months ago to me. It doesn't look bad at all though.

And is Nikki's London hotel room the cheap motel room redecorated in a more glamorous style?

Eileen Davidson looked great during Friday's cliffhanger, she looks rejuvenated and younger than she's looked in recent years.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who remembers it..... :D

The lighting seems to be dark at times and light at others, but in both situations I've yet to find it to dark or to light; it's been a nice balance.....

I didn't really look at Nikki's hotel room that closely, but will be paying closer attention on Monday now that you mentioned something about it looking like the cheap motel room.....

Eileen did look really pretty and well rested, maybe she and Don D both went on a trip to get "refreshed" together....... ;)

Loved Friday's ep

Sharon sneaking around Heather's office

Katherine/Jill & Marge

Jeanne Cooper is a legend. An 80 yr old woman in a front burner story!!

Yes,there was sun streaming in the window of Nikki's hotel room. There wasn't much of a chance to check out the set.

I even liked Victor's scenes in the church...I'm getting that Sabrina represented his last chance for happiness and could feel his pain.

MAB and team need to work on the youngsters stories as the vets are hitting it out of the park...

Serious question:

I wonder if Hogan does breakdowns himself at times, or influences them somehow?

Bc IMO, they're very good just like when he was at ATWT and DAYS, however this time around he doesn't appear to have the same team that were with him at both soaps with him.

Yes, I believe Hogan or Natalie Minardi Slater writes a huge amount of breakdowns these days. Y&R doesn't appear to use many of it's breakdown writers as consistently anymore. These days, you'll usually only see the scriptwriter credited for each episode, which means Hogan, Natalie, or Marla Kanelos wrote the breakdowns for those episodes.

Ashley!!

The promos didn't feature it but what I would give to see MTS and ED go toe-to-toe in a scene. The fact that Nikki is asking for her help really adds layers to that antagonistic relationship. And I really want Victor & Ashley to end up together, too.

Seeing Olivia again makes me happy. And this week I realized what a subtle and attuned actress Nia Peeples is. I mean, here's a relative newbie (from the Lynn Marie Troll era, no less) with a backstory that is being delivered entirely through exposition -- she doesn't have the luxury of the "flashbacks" being accorded Gloria and River's story. Well, I bought her pain more than I buy the Gloria stuff. I really believed the feelings of love and pain and powerlessness that she expressed about her mother. Now I'm wondering... does Olivia know something more? Is she worried about her ex-patient's mental fragility? Where is this going to lead? To jealousy of Tyra?

I love Sharon and Brad and the idea of the two of them giving into temptation! You know that is what Brad was softly pushing for at the coffee house on Wednesday. In a lot of ways, they are so perfectly suited (once both outsiders looking in on the wealthier Newmans/Abbotts) -- more so than Jack & Sharon who are a real stuporcouple. And sexually, Brad & Sharon strike me as extremely compatable.

Heather getting her bitch on with Adam was really interesting. She seems to miss the boorish, powerful, dominating Adam who pushed her around. Now she's pushing him around.

On the other hand -- what an IDIOT for leaving her office open and unlocked when she left it.

    • I'm pretty sure Lucy and Bridget never even have another scene together for the rest of the time they're both on the show. Bridget isn't even invited to the wedding! The lack of community feeling and continuity of non-romantic relationships during this period is very jarring. Characters suddenly only seem to interact with a handful of other characters, rather than characters across the canvas. I'm deep into 1997 in my watch right now and find that it's even stranger because the show goes back and forth between ignoring history in order to manufacture some kind of separation between characters (for example, at one point Amanda refers to the Coopers as a family that the Spauldings "barely know," despite her and Alan spending the better part of 1996 going to war with Buzz over 5th street, and Alan has absolutely no reaction when he finds out about something bad that's happened to Abby, which seems pretty out of character given how close they were in 95/96) and ignoring history in order to create a sense of community that doesn't quite fit (characters who couldn't stand Amanda are suddenly acting all buddy buddy with her). The wheels really feel like they're coming off in 1997 (although I know some would argue that the wheels started to come off years earlier). Watching the Marcus/Dahlia romance again from a 2025 perspective is so weird. Marcus is a full grown man who must be at least in his mid-20s and he's dating a teenager who is not only still in high school, but is still fully a year away from graduation, and no one says anything about how creepy that is. I feel like the buzz around Marcus gave the illusion that the show was more invested in him than it ever actually was. Even during his "big" story where he's arrested for Cutter's murder, he actually doesn't appear on screen very often. He's imprisoned, Griffin is brought on, other characters make a fuss about trying to get him out, but there's a long stretch of time where he doesn't appear at all. I've been keeping episode counts while I watch and between Cutter's death in mid-November of 1995 and the end of the year Marcus/Mambo only appears 7 times (and of that only twice in December).
    • The letter reading was very emotional, and Maeve really got to me too. I was a little worried because Vanessa doesn't give a speech at the funeral, which surprised me, but then we got the private letter reading and her true emotional reaction and I was satisfied there. The YouTube channel I watch these episodes on (if not on our Vault), also had upset commenters talk about how Nola's line about Henry not accepting her at first/seen as a gold-digger was totally untrue. It's sad the writers don't do their homework and give fans the respect (and the characters respect). And yep, Bill got up and spoke at the funeral too, which was nice.  I didn't even realize that was Sharon Leal until you said it!  I had to Google it. I loved Sharon Leal in Boston Public back in the day haha. LOL at your Reva/Josh ALWAYS commentary. What is RME though?
    • Leslie is an extreme liar and manipulator. I'm not sure what her point was in trying to convince Nicole she wasn't trying to hurt her. As much as Eva did help orchestrate the entire plot I feel like there was too much piling on. Eva never said she wanted to be a Dupree so Anita was extremely out of line for that comment.

That's positive and something to look forward to for sure, because you're right, 1996 so far isn't nearly as good as 1995. Ohh - what is Lonatrat?  Sadly you're probably right. I did feel like David was rarely seen once Marcus came on. That would have been an interesting spin, having Frank and Tina be teenage lovers and Dahlia really being his daughter. I'm getting the sense that Tina won't be seen too much anymore, as she just left Dahlia with Frank/Eleni as she's heading to jail for a while. I like the Tina actress too!  Her voice sounds a bit like Rosie Perez to me, which I love. I tried to find her online, but coming up empty. This was the only thing I could find about Tina Crede - a character snapshot video with clips and stills of her (randomly starting just before the 1:00 mark):

That's wild that the David actor is nearly 40 here! Definitely surprises me.
    • 5-6   Meh. It already looks like a scattershot week.    5-5 was actually a good episode. Damian and Lily. Phyllis finally going on the warpath that I knew she could get on with Billy and Sally. Nate started to question Audra and Victor's alliance. And I was not even bugged by Kyle and Claire.   But then there's Cole's off-screen story. Kyle and Claire going back to being whiny. And them even wanting Adam's penthouse just sounded like trying to keep the set around. And Diane shouldn't even give a flying frak about Billy's opinion. And Tessa, Daniel, and the guitars...yeeeah no.   But hey...JM looked good in that short. And those pants.  I agree. One of Y&R's good points with fans has always been that you do at least see the vets. And IN stories.
    • One of the things that I found unnecessary and a bit disturbing about Ambitions was that in almost every episode someone was holding or shooting a gun.  Jamey and Ron seem to have the same fetish.
    • I had thought that there was a Tommy Biddles on there, but then I realized I was thinking of Dr. Biddles on Santa Barbara. Never mind!

    • I have watched the scene where Vanessa reads the letter and it's lovely, but I'm really glad now that I never got around to watching the funeral. Henry ADORED Nola! He treated her like a daughter and Stacy like a granddaughter. That's why Vanessa couldn't stand her. He was crazy about all the Reardons. He spent a lot of time at the boarding house. He and Bea--they never explicitly said it was romantic, but they certainly were loving friends. This sounds worse than Bert's funeral. I really did not think that was possible.
