I seriously would have dismissed the whole UFO thing as Fallon's brain tumor-induced hallucination.

Always remember what Dionne (and Luther!) told you, @j swift: it's never too late for love.

How desperate was THE LOVE BOAT to reverse its' falling ratings?  THIS desperate!

And I guess it wouldn't have been the '80's without the appearance of at least one Landers sisters.  (Although, having both appear on the same episode might have been way too much of an already bad thing.)

LOL - best post. Who Shot Captain Stubing? The Love Boat Swimming Pool murder cliffhanger. Who will escape the fire on the Lido deck? Or maybe Gopher and Judy McCoy get together, and he wakes up the next morning and finds her sister Julie McCoy, the ship’s former cruise director, in the shower.

Thank God for Brandon Stoddard and his decision to revamp ABC's lineup with shows like "Moonlighting" and "thirtysomething."  ABC's brand as the destination for escapist programming was beginning to wear thin.

Don't forget the story where Dr. Adam Bricker was kidnapped and replaced with his evil doppelganger!

The thing is, @Khan, that did actually happen -- with Isaac!

A Scandinavian cruise on the Royal Viking Sky begins in London and travels through Oslo and Stockholm:

  • Grant Cooper (John Davidson), vice president of promotions for a suntan lotion, seeks a native Scandinavian female from dozens of applicants to be the company spokesperson. Greta Lund (Christopher Norris) impersonates a native Scandinavian in hopes of winning.
  • Lonely Mel Davis (Jack Klugman) thinks women don't like him because of his large nose. Planning to get cosmetic surgery in Stockholm, he meets Kay Webber (Susannah York). She falls in love with him but thinks he's planning a different kind of surgery.
  • Scientist Dr. Fabian Cain (Telly Savalas) creates a robot duplicate of Isaac and plans to use him for nefarious purposes. He's helped by aspiring actress Delia Parks (Janet Jackson), who may or may not be in love with Isaac.
  • Wealthy Swedish actress Helga Bjorsson (Priscilla Barnes) captivates Gopher.
  • Grant and Ace go to Greta's parents' home for a photo shoot with her.
  • Kay expresses concern to Doc about Mel's operation.
  • Dr. Cain tries out Isaac's robot double in public, while the real Isaac goes on a romantic boat ride with Delia.
  • Gopher leaves the cruise line to work with Helga.

And poor Ted McGinley ended up being the fall guy for this!

I liked Paper Dolls but Glitter was so very mundane.

I suppose ABC was nearly blindsided by a resurgent NBC.

Interestingly Finder of Lost Loves aired against Berrenger's in an awkward 10PM Saturday night time slot.

    • The writers need to stop writing Nick/Sharon as forever young and beautiful star-crossed lovers and write them as the middle aged adults with grown children that they are.
    • Yes. He was asleep in the living room, over in the chair that is sideways to the room, but faces it & he had one of his bad dreams in the exact same way as always & as always it woke him up. Is that a thing? Are there bad dreams that for some reason always wake you?
    • Just happy to see the Pointer Sisters getting their flowers again, thanks to GTA 6.

    • Yeah, I was fickle. I abandoned baby watch & just tried to think of really well matched pairings. Yeah, they sent Carter & Thomasina away far too soon for my way of looking at things.  I REALLY liked them & they were rare being both young & African Americans.
    • My watching in that time period was sketchy.  After high school, I didn't have a TV.  I would watch in the dormitory common room  my first year away from home, but then after that I lived in a rental with housemates who didn't want TV.  I think I caught up on the soaps during school(univ) vacations, when visiting my sister's house.  And then many many years later on soapnet?  Not sure. I had no idea that Jeff ever tried suicide. Reading just now is the first I ever heard of that. Interesting. I will agree that Monica wanted Jeff out of the way so she could be with Rick, but she would have wanted him gone emotionally.  But I don't remember watching Jeff having any medical issues, so I don't know if she would have wanted him dead.
    • Didn't he have a nightmare last week?
    • Nothing about Joss ever works. I can't blame them for trying a completely fresh approach for her, but she needs to be written out.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  Some of this sounds strong but it's all so heavy and some elements, like with Felicia and Charles, almost veer on parody. L&L seemed to always be a heavy show - did they ever even have comic relief moments? - but I do wonder if it all became too much for viewers.
    • It's a joke. If there's a way to put Joss into a WSB spy story that works, I haven't seen it. What they're doing is just ridiculous. Imagine trusting a huge operation to someone who "finished training" a month ago. I think they're trying to make this work by having a college-age agent be a part of the professor's class, etc. It might look acceptable on paper, but it doesn't work when you see it.
    • Monday, after the party, Leslie showed up at the Duprees. Martin was with everyone as they listened to her for a bit. Then Martin said he was needed at home.  Anita and Vernon knew he was upset and they were concerned. Vernon asked "Do you need Titus, or are you okay to drive?"  Martin said he was okay and left to drive himself home. Either Titus is a chauffeur or just some helpful all-around employee.
