The 1897 week when Laura finally goes up in a blaze is something:

Monday - Laura is about to kill Barnabus

Tuesday - Laura's about to be killed

Wednesday - Laura's magical fire powers kill "Angelique"

Thursday - Angelique turns up again

Friday - Laura dies by mystical Phoenix powers

Too bad they didn't do the Angelique/Laura conflict earlier as I enjoyed their banter.

Sorry if I’m asking a question that has already been answered. Does Decades have the all the episodes? Or does it have the traditional broadcast syndication package that starts with Barnabas coming out of the coffin and doesn’t include the last year or two.

Evidently, the Decades network has bought only the two-year cycle running from April or May of 1967 to two years later in 1969.     I am sure that no network would choose to air those episodes only if they had the entire run of the show.

I know that I stopped watching the Decades reruns after the two-year run of the show had been run.

I've finally passed episode 800 and first of all:

- They're really messing up this whole time travel theory thing - Barnabas wants the Collins family history book that Victoria brought with her to 1796, but since Eve went back in time in 1968 to retrieve it, it shouldn't be there, right? Only in Dark Shadows logic, since Eve went back for the book in 1968 that hasn't happened yet, but theoretically it surely has since she went back to 1796 to get it? This hurts my nerd brain very very much. The worst part is that we already knew that the Collinses had put down that Quentin travelled abroad so it was a pretty pointless exercise.

- Slaughtered unicorns has to be the most random thing ever. Love all the Kitchener references - I guess they couldn't say out loud that Petofi is gay af, so they just rounded the problem by referencing to an infamously gay officer.

I should try to watch but a part of me has always been hesitant, especially after reading the 2012 book describe the big Angelique and Victoria scene as something from SNL.

In my heart DS is always going to be the original show, even as I do want the series to still live on too.

Sorry - it's this one:

The book says a lot that hardcore fans would already know, but does have an interesting look at the plans for the aborted WB series and just how it went wrong.  The other material worth reading is KLS and Lara Parker writing about their experiences with the Burton movie, and Parker obliquely calling Helena Botham Carter two-faced...

    • First, let me say I love reading all of your takes and thoughts. They always provide a different point of view... a breath of fresh air... in this sometimes stuffy topic.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
    • This is as good a time as any to point out that the 90 minute show was, what I like to call  "cockamamie idea" of Fred Silverman, head of NBC Daytime Programming. He did so well at ABC & CBS but not so NBC. We learned this from a WOST interview with Pete Lemay, 2006, can be found on YouTube, audio only. Now, to be clear, Rauch was completely behind it. Only Lemay fought against it & eventually quit over it.
    • She was so wonderful. Glad your handle has been a tribute to her.
    • Hopefully Alan has learned to not interrupt or interject with pointless information while someone is in the middle of telling a story. I almost think it would be better if Alan was a producer behind the scenes.. and he just had the actors on screen talking and asking one another questions.  Those interviews tend to work better.
    • It was only recently announced that Denise Alexander passed away on March 5, 2025. She was my all time favorite actress and role model. She will be dearly missed.  Denise Alexander, ‘General Hospital' and ‘Days of Our Lives' Actress, Dies at 85
    • Hopefully Alan will actually read the book beforehand.

    • Am I the only one who immediately thinks of this every time someone mentions Smitty?
