How would you all rank the season finales and cliffhangers for Knots? I put some thought and came up with my own personal list:

1. 1985-Val seeing the twins alive

2. 1984-Karen is shot and Abby kidnapped by the Woodbridge Group

3. 1982-Val walking in on Gary & Abby

4. 1987-Abby hiding and burying Peter’s body

5. 1988-Jill’s torture of Val

6. 1990-Paige being stood up at her wedding, Jeff is Karen’s stalker

7. 1983-Gary left rotting in jail while Karen realizes Chip is the one who killed Ciji

8. 1993-Abby moving back into Knots Landing

9. 1981-Sid’s car going over the cliff

10. 1980-Gary falls off the wagon and gets back on.

11. 1986-Karen is kidnapped

12. 1992-Meg goes missing and Pierce turns up alive in Paige’s care

13. 1989-Paige left standing in the rain while Mac gets skunked

14. 1991-Brian Johnston disappears and then paintball madness/shenanigans.

This sounds good. I think I'd have 1987 at #3 and Sid going over the cliff at #6.

1987's finale was much better than it should have been given the state of the show, but that whole grimy Paige/Peter/Abby/Olivia saga was the strongest story of the lot. They did a good job with the disbelief and numbness of the situation, especially Donna Mills and Tonya Crowe.

I'm with @DRW50 : those rankings look pretty good to me, too.

I think 1982's finale has to be very high on the list, because of its' importance to the show overall. The implosion of Gary and Val's remarriage is the first sign that KL is shifting gears from average family show or "straight" drama/soap hybrid to full-on soap opera. The transformation isn't complete yet - that won't happen 'til Ciji's body washes up on the beach - but we're getting there.

10. 1986-Karen is kidnapped (I was hoping she would be kidnapped and never come back).

11. 1989-Paige left standing in the rain while Mac gets skunked

12. 1992-Meg goes missing and Pierce turns up alive in Paige’s care

Either Constance McCashin has a damn good plastic surgeon, or she was blessed with fantastic genes. I wouldn't say she's ageless, but she has aged so gracefully.

Kim Lankford, meanwhile, looks like she belongs on one of Tyler Sheridan's godawful dramas.

Constance McCashin is 78 going on 79. Kim Langford is 71 going on 72. Neither of them have acted in years. If they've had anything done, it's not blatantly obvious and in your face, especially when compared to their castmates even though said castmates are a little older.

If anything, being away from the entertainment industry takes off a lot of pressure in maintaining a certain look, at least in theory anyway.

It's remarkable how Constance McCashin reinvented herself as a therapist...but I have to admit...I miss seeing her on my TV (in something other than reruns, lol).

Constance also knows the power of a a fringe, glasses, a scarf and long sleeves. Way less on display.

Kim's harsh hair color and outfit are not helping.

Constance McCashin was smart enough to realize that good roles for females past a certain age were few and far between (remember she was 40 in 1987 when Laura departed) thus changing her career path to one outside the entertainment industry.

Pretty good episode, next week will be ever better :)
