Yey! Managed to save the first 14 episodes from season 7. I've put the rest to record right now in the commercial break. The quality is great. I can't wait to start watching this show.

Finally, after several days of searching, I have now found a way us newbies can watch it, in order.The only trick is we have to pay for the privilege. 17 bucks for Season 1.

The Joshua character and story don’t work for me at all. The strength of Knots is that the characters are generally relatable and most of them are people you’d meet in everyday life. Joshua is unlikeable and un-relatable.

Valene should have thrown Joshua out of her house as soon as he starting using her twins as ratings fodder for his show. The Valene that we saw in early Dallas would never have put up with him. She was street smart and was at the point in her life where she didn’t put up with crap like that.

Whereas I felt Valene was kind of a doormat crushed by life and the Ewings on Dallas, and didn't fully find herself until leaving Gary again in S4, IMO. Their quick reunion and flight to Los Angeles was kind of a fantasy for a long time.

In her first appearance on Dallas, Valene stands up to JR because she knows he has set up Gary for a fall so he’ll leave the ranch. When Knots started, she seemed more naive and that’s not how she was initially written on Dallas. She was more jaded. I think she would have spotted Abby earlier too. But…different show, so the character served a different purpose.

Damn. Joan van Ark was so good.

I've always felt that a perfect storyline for latter-days DALLAS or KNOTS would have been J.R. enticing Val with an offer to "ghost write" his memoirs.

Say what you want about Abby but damn... she dominated with this, and didn't take any bull.

@Liberty City darling, do you know if this channel plans to repeat the show after they end next week with season 14. I would think these types of non-stop 24/7 channels will repeat from season 1... But I'm not sure. 

I am loving the quality and want to record the stream of the first 6 seasons if they repeat it.

I am quite unsure if they're going back to the beginning or not; I would assume so? But I also know "On Demand" streaming is in the works, supposedly.

I hope it is, because trying to dip in and out, as I had planned to do, isn't working for me.  Watching KNOTS isn't like watching "Murder, She Wrote."  I have to watch this one from the very beginning and then all the way through at my own pace.

It would be perfect if they do this... I am recording Just in case scenario this doesn't happen.

Considering how popular this event has been I'd wager it may make Warner Bros. think twice and really push for a more traditional streaming platform (Prime Video, Max, et al) and that it makes them really push for the supposed remaster we've been hearing about. And yeah, same with me, re: watching.

YESSSSS!

I viewed Val being naive at the start of Knots Landing as not out of character.  She was in a new state and different way of life.

While she could read JR and others like him in good Ole Texas, California was a whole different ballpark... and I think she didn't suss out Abby right away because she was usually around men moreso then women in Dallas.   And women operate differently then men.. especially back in the late 70s/early 80s.

 

The one thing I noticed in the few episodes I watched in season 7 vs season 6 is how the show is presented Ben/Val. 

In Season 6, Ben/Val were slanted as 'end-game'.. with Val seeing Ben and gettting her memory back, Gary telling Val that they tried marriage and didn't work, and also when Cathy is singing 'We Belong'... the focus was on Ben/Val.. while Gary/Abby were happily in love as they found out they inherited Empire Valley.

In Season 7, Ben is presented as put out that Val is putting the twins over him.. and Gary is being presented as this 'wonderful father figure' for the twins.  It's sickening because Gary is a loser... hot.. but still a loser.

Also, I wonder how different the Joshua/Cathy story would have gone if the same creative team were in place in season 7 vs in season 6.  It totally switched gears and became more violent quickly in season 7

They might jump back to Falcon Crest first.
