I do think that Marland has finally settled down in his role as head-writer.. and finally is moving the show forward.  He also seems to have finally quickened the pace a bit with having Maggie cheat on Matt with the new guy after only a month or so of knowing him.  And poor Greta is neglected and acting like the adult for once.

I'm very much enjoying the Kyle/Maggie story.  I found their attraction very natural; not forced at all.  This is probably the first story that is strictly Marland's own.  I'm glad he gave Lydia/Maggie something to do other than being the gossip and recapper.

I've just watched the scenes on YT.  Marland might have realized at that point how the stories were dragging, so he killed her off in order to get something going.

The Kyle/Maggie story is why I wish TPTB had kept Dr. Dan Allison around as a John Dixon-type figure, rather than kill him off.  Imagine how much richer the story might have been, had Maggie grown closer to Dan, who would show a rare, tender side to his personality, as he helped Maggie cope with her and Matt's problems.

Why must Carolee's flashbacks be so damn long?  Did Marland watch TD when the Pollocks were writing -- and flashbacks practically took up entire episodes -- and figured that was the way to go?

I think Dan was damaged to the point of return for them to even keep him. He was sadly roadkill for the Steve/Carolee pairing.

I am eager to see the explosive confrontation between Ann and Steve coming soon. The only thing that is irking me about this whole story is that Steve will get off scot's free--not taking blame in his part in Carolee's breakdown. I am hoping I will be proven wrong, but I can feel it coming that Carolee will just take Steve back and all will be forgiven.

I think Y&R was the first show to use the actors faces in the opening ?

On old Road of Life eps on youtube the actors on that days episode posed in picture frames but other shows just used visuals.

it wasn't till the 80's that shows started using the actors in the credits.

The Doctors now faces the issue of keeping up to date .Althea, Penny and Jerry will soon be gone.i wonder how often the credits will be updated?

Between the delays and the interminable flashbacks, it's as if the Pollocks have been ghostwriting the entire time.  No way should Marland have taken this long to get any momentum going on the Steve/Carolee/Ann or Paul/Stacy/Matt/Maggie, etc. stories.  Did the network and/or Colgate-Palmolive interfere and prevent him from wrapping up stories and/or creating new ones?  Was his trepidation a result of his having no prior knowledge of the show?

Seriously, what did Jackie Smith's daughter allegedly see in his work on this show that convinced her mom to lure him over to GH?  I doubt her daughter even watched TD, because, really, what would have been there to captivate any new fan, let alone one as young as she?

    • If you ever make it to the Paley Center in NYC (fka Museum of TV and Radio), in their viewing room, you can watch Days 1/1/73 featuring Denise Alexander as Susan. It’s her last month on the show before switching to GH.
    • Overall I was impressed with this week and fall out from the revealation.  I am looking forward to seeing the Nicole/Dana showdown next week.  I do wonder if June is going to be tied to Hayley.
    • I thought Adam and Sara got married? Although I do not remember any mention of her when Adam returned for Blake's weddings. But MA certainly got the short end of the stick storywise, as Marland's obsession with therapy reared it's head.
    • Didn’t Meg Bennett return to SFT as a writer in the last few years. I always wondered if they tried to get her back as Liza.
    • Millette Alexander got the short end of the stick once they killed off Joe. The Justin thing was a non-starter. Then she was briefly married to Alan's corrupt lawyer and HE was killed off. She was paired briefly with Adam and that ended because she believed Holly over Roger about the rape. Definitely, Marland had zero interest in her except as the therapist for the many, many of his female characters who needed therapy. It's not odd she left the show. One of the rare 1978 episodes on YT shows Alan going to Cedars for a physical check-up. He ends up with Sarah as his doctor. In between making mysoginistic comments about women doctors, he also openly flirts with her. It's very obvious they were chem testing Sarah and Alan. It's a really good scene. Bernau is both obnoxious and charming and Millette is amazing, trying to be pleasant and profesional without rolling her eyes at him, but at the same time maybe a LITTLE bit attracted to him. An interesting what-might-have-been. So it appears the Dobsons were actively looking for someone to pair her with, they just never found the right one for a long-term story.

You've inspired me to add my 2 cents about this product placement debacle.  I absolutely HATE the way they are doing product placement in BTG. I really hope this doesn't catch on or evolve into more and more of these moments. It's incredibly off-putting to place them in a highly dramatic moment where we are still on the emotional journey with the character. What is next - Dani spraying the house while having a nervous breakdown? It makes me not want to buy the product they're selling. LOL. That's just me.
    • I always get the vibe that Martin/Smitty have an emotional abusive relationship set up... but I doubt the show will really go there with that element given that Martin is a Dupree (and we can't have the Duprees be portrayed in a negative light), and because it's a gay male relationship.   Even though abuse in the physical or emotional sense is a huge thing in a lot of gay and lesbian relationships. The Ashley/Naomi scene reads off to me for one reason....  Ashley was talking about the new scandal without any sort of mention and/or subtext.. considering she knew both Silk Press Sheila and Eva.  I'm not sure if the writers have forgotten, if Jen Jacobs isn't able to play subtext, or what.   It's just apparent the writers do not know how to write a young white millennial couple.. and perhaps they need to get a younger white script writer to be on staff... or let the actors play around with the lines to make them more natural/realistic.
