🤣........When I think of Ruth Gordon I always remember a sketch they did on SCTV where Andrea Martin plays Barbra Streisand and Valri Bromfield plays Ruth Gordon in a film parody. Ruth see's a picture of Barbra and exclaims " Oh Wow ! My old college roommate. Later they get into a brawl and Ruth Gordon is wearing a mink coat that drags the ground because she is so short.

Oh that's right, the parody of Rich and Famous, a film I mostly remember for Pauline Kael tearing it to shreds, accusing George Cukor of having Candice Bergen and Jacqueline Bisset playing out stereotypes and fantasies of gay men, complete with a stud servicing Jacqueline with his ass in closeup. Such a hoot. Valri reprises that parody on the short-lived The New Show. Given the tough time SNL had with Ruth Gordon (she walked right out of the building as soon as the show was over), Lorne Michaels, who created The New Show, was probably happy to stick the boot in.

Yes, the parody was called Rich and Jealous. It used to be on youtube but it's no longer there. LOL at Kael's scathing review of the original film.

I remember when Soapnet was airing reruns of Dallas and got to the 90-minute season ending episode where Bobby "died". They ran an extremely edited version in the usual one-hour slot. If you had never seen the full episode before, you would have been very confused by the choppiness and all the missing scenes. I'd hate for something similar to be done with this special TD episode.

I thought it was Feb. 14, 1975, Toni and Allan's wedding, but that's only one 30-minute episode, so am not sure.

I don't recall the date but RetroTV did air them broken up in half hours.

Kathryn Harrold is my favorite actress in these 1976/77 episodes. She's excellent. She doesn't flub her lines the way so many others do. She has totally nailed the character, making Nola feisty not bitchy. It's a fascinating portrayal.

I think Harrold was the best Nola, however, I can't fault the other actresses for their portrayals when later writers totally changed the character each time a new writer or actress took the role. Zimmer is one of my favorite actresses ever in daytime, but I hated how they wrote her Nola.

The first 60 minute episode aired on January 23 1975. The episode Retro TV has available to stream for that date cuts off at 24 minutes, the last 15 or so minutes are missing. Not sure if it aired on Retro TV like that or not.

The next special episode, the 90 minute episode that aired on March 15 1976 and included the return of Nick to save Althea aired in 3 half hour increments on RTV and is available for streaming that way.

The other 60 minute episode which aired on March 29 1977, the return of Carolee to Madison, is the same as the 90 Min episode, broken up into 2 half hours segments.
