As much as I detest Chloe, it's so lame how British soaps(Corrie, Emmerdale, heck even EE)  love doing stories where the parent of a child dies, and the child gets taken care of by the couple TPTB want us to root for🙄

Since the couple in question here includes a Dingle, that will never, ever, ever happen for me.   <_<

One of the signs that it's all about plot, plot and plot nowadays. I think there was only one (!) story about rape for the first twenty years of the show, and that wasn't even shown on screen, just talked about after it happened. And that was when Wendy Hotson was raped in early 1979.

So that's Rhona, Victoria, and now Lydia in a short time period.

Found the first two too disturbing to watch, yeah not even going to bother with this recent rehash. The show needs a change, and FAST.

It was revealed that his father had raped him as a child.

I suppose there was also Sharon Crossthwaite, although that was early on.

You're absolutely right. I completely forgot about Sharon. I'm not sure they were very clear about her being raped, I think it was more implied (I could be wrong, its been a while since I watched those very early episodes), but nevertheless it happened. But it was a very rare occurrence for the show to deal with rape. I think it remained that way long into the 2000s actually.

David will leave the show after 17 years has been confirmed for weeks and there is a new rumor that there might be a fling coming up for Jacob & Victoria.. Like what to the actual hell?

I just can‘t anymore. It’s so hard to like Emmerdale these days.

I was just about to come here and ask if there is any point to tune in Emmerdale or EastEnders maybe (after years of not watching), but I have no desire to watch David leave and Jacob and Victoria hooking up..
