I still watch. I don't post much here. I post mainly at Walford Web.

The show has some alright moments, but is mainly the same damn scenes over and over, and way too much of Hayley and Stuart.

Sadly with Kate Oates coming I imagine the worst will be on the way.

When I'm up early on Saturday mornings, I always get into these PBS reruns. Then the credits roll and I realize I'm watching episodes from 11 years ago. :/

Today's episodes were about Patrick being attacked in the shop and Sean getting fingered by Chelsea and Deano.

Good to see Sean Mahon from Red Rock in Walford. His RR character was despicable but he was one of their MVP's. I surprisingly thought the prison storyline for Mick worked far better than anything else Mick in ages. It's weird they could see the Aidan/whatever his real name was and his drugs were plaguing the show and so they dropped it but with Stuart they're hell-bent on keeping him around when everyone is complaining.
Sharon/Keanu would have had more resonance had Phil taken to him as the son he desired and then he sleeps with his wife.
I've enjoyed Kate Oates' Corrie to be honest, so I hope she can do good things for EE as it desperately needs it. I'd like for her to bring on Louise Marwood as the new HBIC!

The Carter-free second half of October really made the show easier to get through. I like Hayley but I think she should have been tied to other people than the Slaters, some of her mannerisms and toughness makes me think of Kathy and that's one part of the canvas that could use something more.

I wonder if Kate Oates will switch things up at the Vic, she changed the landlords of both ED and Corrie's pubs, and it's time the Carters retired. My first bet would be on Martin and Stacey but it could go to new characters.

She did a poor job with this at Corrie and only changed the Emmerdale landlords at the very end of her tenure and I think that may have been due to Elizabeth Estensen's age. Either way, I wouldn't expect anything good from her.

Hayley is just such a one-note bore. They have also dramatically regressed her, to the point where she struggles to even speak or walk. I have a feeling she was not the superstar with fans they expected her to be, so this is the result - nonstop pity parties. Katie Jarvis is 27, yet Hayley is written as if she was a teenager. It doesn't work. She also has zero chemistry with the real Slaters.

Yeah, it's like Hayley has half her brain missing. I don't feel sorry for her, I mainly just skip her crap scenes. She's not a good actress either. If anything she should have been tied to the Taylors as she even looks too skanky to be a Slater which is quite an achievement, and I wish they wouldn't act like Keanu would look twice at her if this was real life as he obviously wouldn't, neither would he at Sharon either but I admit that story is quite entertaining so won't complain.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
    • I don't, since they've clearly incorporated them into Tomas' storyline, and I happen to like his tattoos, but his jackets not fitting doesn't mean they're trying to cover his tattoos. The clothing overall isn't the issue; it's the fit. And I expect(ed) more from Jeresa Featherstone and her team. Very disappointed. He's the only male, overall, whose costume irritates me.
    • "And OMG, watching the scenes of Roger's return in comparison...the quality in the writing really nosedived. The stupid mask." Very much agreed.  Having Roger hide behind a mask for weeks/months, with it culminating with him swinging in on a vine at Blake/Phillip's wedding....geez.  So juvenile. IMO, Guiding Light never did a good job reintroducing major characters, either from the dead or elsewhere.  Masked balls = awful.  Amish = awful. When Reva was brought back from the dead, she should've just showed up in Springfield as Reva, and informed everyone that she had been gone for years because she felt like it.  She had a four-year fling with some dude who ended up dumping her due to disloyalty. Josh would be pissed and declare that their love is not *always* but *sometimes* and he'd act accordingly.  Her kids would hate her.
    • Agreed. The Emmys next year are gonna be a pretty tough competition and I hope we get a Days sweep lol  Not only does Deidre deserve a nomination for these last few weeks, but I also think Paul Telfer, Raven Bowens, Carson Boatman, Dan Feuerriegel and Alison Sweeney have good chances as well.
    • It’s not about a lack of faith and trust in MVJ, it’s about a a lack of faith and trust in Ron Carlivati, who I think can be very sneaky and manipulative when he wants to be.  And, all that “He’s just a breakdown writer” talk never changed my mind about anything, because at Days, it was “just a breakdown writer” that gave us some of the worst episodes I’ve ever seen.
