I've not always been an Alya fan in the past, but this was an excellently written scene.

I’m really proud of the way they handle the “consent” story of Amy.

BUT Aaron was the wrong character to chose for that story. I mean we followed him through that annoying Summer-Baby Stuff and saw such a good guy.

I know that under influence of alcohol or drugs you are not in your right mind and do things u normally wouldn’t. But this was so unnecessary to ruin Aaron’s character like that.

i feel sorry for the actor that he had to keep up months with Summer’s story just to be turned into a rapist !

In 2021 it was estimated that the average episode of Corrie costs 141,000 pounds, (which works out to $175,000) - 1/3 of the cost goes to the writing staff and actors - https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/news/celebs-tv/how-much-emmerdale-coronation-street-5178636

By comparison (just for shits and giggles), in 2010 Days of our Lives spent $150,000 per episode, with a smaller cast and much less expensive sets. - https://www.csmonitor.com/The-Culture/TV/2010/1013/Soap-operas-All-washed-up/(page)/2

But, the acting, writing, and production of Corrie are so superior that it boggles my mind.  Just watch this one scene and try to argue that the two shows are comparable enough even to be considered in the same genre.  This is part of the reason that 5.5 million people watch Corrie weekly, and 1.7 million watched DAYS during its final season on NBC.

Well Corrie is on at 8pm at night so there are far more viewers available so I don't know that comparing those numbers proves much.

Also the whole production set up is completely different in the UK so that budget may be buying more in terms of filming time, rehearsal etc

Not defending Days in any way, just saying...

I don't think this has been posted before. I'm way too lazy to go through all those pages to check. It's a critique on early 2000's Corrie and Bet's disastrous 2002 return.

The soap awards proofed to me that EastEnders and Coronation Street Are definitively the two most hyped and beloved shows tbh.
We waited for the stars before the show and two actresses made a picture with me WITH MY PERSONAL IPhone.

and one was THE ONE AND ONLY Charlotte Jordan who even won 3 awards for her work on Corrie later on. I’m so hyped that I got her to take m phone and she even joked: but when it breaks, don’t hate me! _ She Even had her champagne glass in her hand while doing the pictures with me and my mom. second one was Sally Ann Matthews (Jenny)… Oh my god. I didn’t expect her to be that nice and good looking in real life haha

The most hilarious thing was when Stephens actor was shown and me and A LOT of people booed him lol he is really disliked and hated

That's heartbreaking to hear. Julie had a tough life, but battled to become a national icon. She always had the utmost respect for Corrie and for its fans. I can't ever imagine Corrie without thinking of her. I hope she will be well taken care of.

Watched some of the current show, and Maureen Lipman is the only bright spot. Her scones with her daughter Cassandra were a revelation, and better than any scene this show has aired this year.

Last night Sarah Lancashire was awarded Britain's top television honor, the NTA "Special Recognition"! After, when speaking to the press she invoked the excellent training she got at CORRIE even going as far as naming names of directors.

Hey, I don't post here & I don't watch CORRIE but I got a transcript of what Sarah Lancashire said about it the other night when she won NTA "Special Recognition". So I thought I'd share it with you. It is just a fabulous shout out to how great soaps can be. At the first she's referring to Sir Ian McKellen who is standing right beside her.

This past week Sarah Lancashire won Britain's highest TV honor the NTA's "Special Recognition". She gave a remarkable shout out to Corrie & to the value of soaps:

This is the transcript. At the first she is referring to Sir Ian McKellan who is standing beside her.
Question: “Obviously a lot of people remember you on Coronation Street where it all began. A lot of people dismiss soaps sometimes. Do you feel like your career is proof almost of just how powerful soaps can be to someone’s career and how you can go on to such amazing things?”
Sarah: “[Well I’m not the only one who has been in a soap! The same one!] When I was in Coronation Street we had a phenomenal writing team in the Nineties and every soap evolves, every decade and my decade was blessed with Paul Abbott, Sally Wainwright, Frank Cottrell Boyce, Julian Roach, John Stevenson, Ken Blakeson. The directors I worked with: Julian Jarrold, Julian Farino. It’s one of the best training schools in the world, it really is, but the calibre of people you are working with and in such an immediate fashion, is extraordinary and so truly, I am very proud of my four years in Coronation Street. I’m very proud of them. I was terribly lucky to work with extraordinary people.”

    • Letting Brennan put it in yet again while smirking over his shoulder... any day now! She's got him just where she wants him! I do think ol' Jack will be dead by February at the absolute latest. They have set him up as a counter-heavy to Sidwell, forcing poor Joss to work his latest scheme. At which point I still deeply fear we will be subject to Valentin and Carly, partners in crime to lovers, possibly out to find out 'who killed Jack'. Anna was at her best keeping Sonny at arm's length and often somewhat cold, which she only really did (for better or worse) during Carlivati's tenure. But Finola got too emotional over Sonny, Jason, etc. and was allowed to do that onscreen too much long ago. Mulcahey brought some of that steel back, though Finola still managed to choke or quietly sob through some of that material as Anna found her way there lol. She's a brilliant actress and she did a good job with that stuff in '24, but now we're back to the same old and it humiliates the character whether she knows it or not.
    • Listen, I am all for Laura Wright wearing silly wigs and glasses if there was a point.  So far she's just been nice to Brennan and made out with him.  How evil lol!!  Even though I have been told Brennan loves her the writing was never there.  It's so low stakes.  Carly should maybe talk to her daughter and have an adult conversation instead. Laura and Anna look foolish.  I really don't have an issue with either being friendly or at least having some affection for Sonny.  I don't get both of them wanting to have a parade to announce how much they love him and how valuable the friendship is.  C'mon, Laura basically tolerated Sonny because of Luke until Lulu/Dante got together.  Anna likes Sonny because Robin did?  There really isn't much more of a reason for Anna to give him the time of day besides that.  They aren't lifelong buddies.
    • It is so dumb and is dragging on already after a couple weeks. By the time Carly wraps this up Joss will be running the local branch office. And yes, Laura deserves better. It's like they tripled down on this Sonny apologia stuff with her and Anna after the Mulcahey saga.
    • A white twunk with no purpose?? On Days of our Lives??!!
    • It feels like the show hired Hank Northrop first and are still deciding what to do with him lol. I don't have a judgement on the character yet, but this non-story (so far) has been happening for at least a month and he's only made 2 appearances lol. Also, this may be a stupid question, but is Chad's name really Chadwick?  I can't find any evidence of that in a quick google search, so I assume it's just a silly nickname Leo calls him?  I feel like I've heard other characters (EJ?) call him that though too.
    • I know Anita mentioned that she no longer was investing in the trust, while Leslie had stated that the interest was multiplying at a decent rate... but I do have a feeling she'll wipe through the trust in a short amount of time with the amount of spending she's doing. The show always throws in tiny nuggets of foreshadowing and having Anita's remark and Eva warning her mother not to overdo the spending tells me that Leslie will be blowing through that money eventually.
    • I honestly don't care if Laura is friends with Sonny.  She's been friends with him for decades.  The way she goes about the friendship is stupid.   She has no sense of self-preservation or awareness about the optics of parading her friendship with Sonny around town.  She practically celebrates it.  There's no reason in the world she can't just keep the friendship low key and explain they share a grandchild and frame the relationship that way.  A lot of Laura's choices, like getting into a public fight with Dalton, just make her look silly and like a fairly incompetent mayor. Carly is another PC lady that's starting to look silly.  I know she's explained her plan a lot, but it's still stupid and moving at a glacial pace.  If Joss is 45 by the time her revenge plot unfolds, what's the point?  Just dump Brennen and move on please.
    • On that same note, it's astounding to have mobster Sonny in the same office with Mayor Laura chatting it up about their mutual grandson. Think about the reaction if John Gotti and Mayor Eric Adams had a friendship

?? I guess the Logic behind Sonny & Jason acceptance is like when i saw a documentary where FBI agents said they'd rather deal with the mafia than terrorists or cartels---they're the "lesser of 3 evils". Anyway I'm about 30 years late on this convo.
    • Im confused. Does Jessica know anything about June's relation to Tyrell? At the start of the episode, it seemed like June was gonna slip that he was her son but she caught herself but later in the episode she referred to him as "my boy" and Jessica had no reaction like that wasnt a surprise to her No, Anita was putting money in the account every 6 months but we werent told how much was in it when Leslie became a beneficiary. The show has set it up that it was multiplying based off the interest so that its really worth quite alot now. I dont buy it but thats what they've told us
    • What was the point in Lori's return as Mrs. Max Hollister? That little story never made much sense to me.  Were there plans for a permanent return? Or even a new family with her as the matriarch?
