I don't buy this at all. This same source also claims that Thaoo, LeAnn, and Joe will go recurring.

LeAnn is already recurring. I can see Joe going recurring since Stefano can be an in and out character. Thaoo could also go recurring too since LeAnn is. He did mention being very busy next year with other projects so going off contract would allow him to do that.

As for Dee, no way. First off, she has a great relationship with Corday last I heard. Plus, she took a cut last year when she signed her contract. Corday recognizes her importance to the show so I think that is one cut he won't make.

Sony made it clear they are trying to tighten up finances for both their shows and that is why I always felt one of the big 4 had to go. It was inevitable whether Hogan wrote for them or not. It sucks but I was prepared for it. I don't think Dee will be cut if Drake is. Corday is a fanbase whore and Sony knows about the fanbases. They know they have to hang on to as many as they can, along with saving money. Corday will keep Dee around to hold on to her fans to soften the blow from Drake's ouster. He has no choice really IMO.

THE DAY MARLENA GETS WRITTEN OFF IS THE DAY I STOP WATCHING DAYS OF OUR LIVES!!! If this info is true, then I am one angry camper!! Its bad enough that she is hardly on. They at LEAST owe it to her to give her a storyline that can win her an emmy before they axe her. I mean, she has done a lot of emmy worthy stuff in the past but I don't think the emmy people ever took this show that seriously so great actors were overlooked. Anyway, I digress. I swear, I will stop watching and I will tell everyone I know to boycott this damn show if they get rid of Deidre Hall/Marlena!!!

It doesn't matter if she's officially fired, she will NOT be getting a storyline. As I've said before, Hogan said at ATWT that he doesn't know how to write older characters. Because of that we never saw Tom, Margo, John, Lisa, Bob, Kim, etc. The only ones he wrote for were Craig (think EJ) and Barbara (think Kate).

DAYS is the wrong soap for him because their bread and butter is in the vets. You HAVE to write for John, Marlena, Bo, Hope, Roman, Anna, etc. or the show isn't going to work. The mediocre writing (and casting) for the teens isn't helping either.

If Hogan remains, Ed Scott's talents will be wasted. I have a lot of respect for him so I don't want his name tarnished because of a bad writer. Hopefully he brings someone like Jack Smith as the new headwriter. His Y&R was very dark with lots of mysteries and the type of stuff that typically works at DAYS. I think he could be perfect for the show. He also was good at integrating the teens and their storylines into the family, always. It was never just about the teens.

>> I don't believe Hogan Sheffer nor Ed Scott would fire Deidre Hall. That's like AMC firing Susan Lucci or ONE LIFE firing Erika Slezak.

OTOH, there once was a time when DAYS had to get along w/o Marlena OR Deidre Hall. Granted, they didn't fire her back then; she left of her own accord (to work full-time on "Our House," among other things). But, it has been done. (And before anyone posits that DH's departure back in '87 led directly to DAYS's decline in the late '80's, let me say two things: 1) "Cruise of Deception," which happened after Marlena had already "died," was, and is, considered a high-point that fueled alot of story for some time afterward; and 2) a tired formula of vanilla supercouples and limp murder mysteries were as much to blame as anything else.)

Listen, until this rumor has been substantiated as fact, that's all it is: rumor. But it DOES raise an interesting question. I think we've already established whether DAYS could survive the loss of John Black/Drake Hogestyn...but could it survive another exit from Ms. Hall? IMO, I think so. Frankly, I think what hurts DAYS more is not that John & Marlena don't have story right now, but that characters like Doug Julie, Bill, Laura, Mickey, Maggie, and their assorted offspring and in-laws have little or no story (or, in some cases, are not even around at all. These are the ones who should be front-and-center, not the Bradys and DiMeras and their tired, superfluous, history-rewriting, out-of-nowhere feud.

This posters comments are right on the money!! I wasn't thrilled at all with Hogan Sheffer's work and Emmy wins at ATWT and even less so in hearing the news that he was hired as Days new headwriter. I to think that someone like Jack Smith would be a great fit at Days. He would have to be a big improvement over the lame job we've seen Sheffer do over this past year. Whether this rumor turns out to be false or not I hope that Ken Corday wakes up soon to letting go of Sheffer.

The main issue is that DAYS seems unable to create new popular characters that could help the show survive the departure of someone like Dee, who shouldn't leave anyway. Back in the 80s, DAYS lost a lot of popular characters like Bill and Laura, and Doug and Julie, they started to backburner Mickey and Maggie, BUT, they brought on Bo and Hope, and Shane and Kim, and Roman. Although people complained that all of the vets were being written out, it didn't matter because of the very successful new characters. The lack of new "it" characters is destroying the show now; if the writing and casting for Nick, Chelsea, Jeremy, Max, and Jett is as good as DAYS can do now, then we are in major trouble!

And again, no she didn't. She was happily doing BOTH (and managing two business at the same time) and DAYS decided to "let her go". She wanted to stay.

I'm too tired to respond to the rest, just gonna say that I don't agree with you, and like it or not, Deidre Hall is the most recongnizable face and name of that show.
