Melinda and Lakisha owned tonight. Gina did very well. I think she needed that performance. Those are the only three I think are sure bets for Top 12. Well, I think Jordin is too.

Haley was okay but just SO generic and boring. I totally forget she's even still in the competition.

Antonella wasn't that bad this week (dodges tomatoes) but I still think she should be eliminated over others.

Stephanie and Sabrina are becoming very similar to me. I'm worried they might cancel the other out and I think we'll get a "shocker" and see one of them eliminated over Antonella, yet again.

Jordin was very good but falls short of Melinda and Lakisha.

My pick for the guys?

Blake, Chris S, and Chris R are sure bets to make the Top 12. I think Sanjaya will go through (though he doesn't deserve it). Jared and Brandon will cancel the other out and one of them will go and Phil or Sundance will be the "shocker" elimination

I wish we could just eliminate Sanjaya, Brandon and Jared in one fell swoop. That would be nice.

So, who do I think will go?

GIRLS: Haley and Sabrina

GUYS: Phil and Brandon

At DialIdol, looks like I'm on to something.

Sabrina and Haley are at the bottom (not that it means anything though) and Antonella has SHOCKINGLY (end sarcasm) moved up to fourth place.

What drugs are the west coasters on. Seriously. SERIOUSLY. I'm sorry to those out there, but this is ridiculous. At least Stephanie and Jordin moved up and the top three (Gina/Melinda/Lakisha) remain the same.

Well, I won't get too upset only because last week, Stephanie and Gina and Brandon and Nick were on the bottom and only Nick was eliminated out of them, so ... Dial Idol, although a good predictor of popularity, isn't exactly a predictor of who's voted off, at least in the early rounds. As more contestants drop off, it becomes pretty accurate. Especially for the girls it seems. Last week Alaina was fourth from the top and was eliminated while Leslie was third from last so ... who really knows?

Was she not perfection tonight? I simply cannot believe that she is on American Idol instead of her own stage show. Lakisha is so good, too and someplaces are even saying she will win, but I did think I noticed that those two were supporting each other and seemed to have a friendship there.

With 24-16 contestants DialIdol is really only accurate with the Top 3 highest vote getters.

Their accuracy gets much better once it's down to the final 8 or 9

At any rate, Here are final numbers.

Melinda Doolittle - 15.74%

Lakisha Jones - 14.30%

Gina Glocksen - 9.20%

Antonella Barba - 7.56%

Jordin Sparks - 6.83%

Sabrina Sloan - 5.56%

Haley Scarnato - 5.55%

Stephanie Edwards - 5.39%

My predictions are Stephanie & Sabrina

Based on last night's show, Antonella and Haley shoudl go. I like Haley and think she's cute with a good personality, but she isnt that strong. However I feel Antonella will be safe and Gina will leave, which I wouldnt mind bc I cant stand her. Out of the guys, Sanjaya and Phil Stacy should leave

At least Carrie, Kellie and Katharine still give credit to American Idol. I think Fantasia still does. We never hear from Ruben, so...

Kelly, I don't hold it against her. Yes, she should give credit to American Idol, but she's moved on so I don't really see a big deal about it.

I've seen interviews on Jennifer Hudson where she mentions American Idol and sounds appreciative for what the show did for her. She went so far as to say that without it, she never would have been considered for the role of Effie. I don't see anything wrong with her saying American Idol is a stepping stone. Heck, isn't it? I thought a Stepping Stone was something used to launch on to bigger (and better) things. I even think Ryan Seacrest has used American Idol as a stepping stone. Without it, he never would have gotten his hosting job on E! News and now is the exec. producer of E!'s Paradise City.

Simon's just pissy b/c Jenn didn't thank AI during her Oscar speech :P

OH MY GOD.

Sanjaya in the Top 12 over a better singer doesn't surprise me (hello ... Kevin Covais all over again) but Haley? I'm glad Antonella got the boot but and shoot me for saying this but I'd rather have Antonella over Haley. At least Antonella brings drama. Haley is SO boring.

She was only put through because Simon was mean to her. He does it all the time and the audience always avenges it. He needs to STOP.

I can't believe Hayley beat out Sabrina. That's just ridiculous.

And Sanjaya still being around - doesn't surprise me, but pisses me off. I really liked Jared (I know he wasn't the best) - but he was pretty hot. haha

OH and they could have let Carrie Underwood say something. She sings and then they go to commercial. She kind of looked put out with Ryan because he didn't even ask her anything, but last week we had to listen to Kellie Pickler's dumb ass talk forever. WTF?

I am glad you mentioned this. AI treated Carrie horribly both times she performed on there (I don't count last year's finale as she was part of many guests). Last year, they talked to her for like all of 20 seconds and the judges acted bored. They didn't even clap for her. Last night, they clapped a little bit but they gave Fantasia a standing ovation when she was on. They should treat all their former idol winners with the same treatment. Carrie is on her way to surpassing Kelly as their biggest star and they treat her like a stepchild. I can't beleive they didn't ask her anything. All her success and she mentions Idol and thanks them all the time when she is honored and they can't even gives back to her by treating her with some respect? That pissed me off. I realize the show was tight on time last night but if you stopped with all the stalling BS Ryan does to drag out the results their would've been time. I know Simon championed Carrie when she was on but he did make that comment last year that she was boring and now they way the judges treat her-I just find it horrid. Paula wanted Bo to win and that much was clear but give they should all give the girl some respect. She was great last night.

I liked the Idol Give Back thing. What a nice thing to do and such a great idea. This must be the mid-season surprise they had planned. I can't wait to see all the guests coming on to be a part of it. That should be a good event and ofr a very good cause.

Now to the results...no surprises to me. I had a feeling Antonella's luck would run out only because the judges weren't as hard on her. They kind of said she wasn't at her worse while they trashed Haley more this week so I had a feeling Antonella's fanbase would lay off a bit. jared was not bad singing-wise but had no personality. Same goes for Sabrina. No way should she have gone home but personality is a huge component and she didn't have much of a likeability factor outside of her singing and Stephanie has that same problem IMO. I wasn't shocked to see her go.

Sanjaya and his fanbase scares me. This could be John Stevens/Scott Savol all over again. This is not like Covais. This fanbase is stronger and I hope he goes home first because he has no place in the top 12. He is terrible and the judges reactions were priceless. I wasn't big on Sundance but he was better then Sanjaya by miles. Haley has a good voice but her song choices such. I knew would make it because she is pretty and she showed more personality then girls like Sabrina and Stephanie did. That made the difference and the fact that Simon was mean to her pushed her even more. I think she will go home early but I like her voice in a way. I don't like her attitude though.

The girls are going to dominate this top 12. The only guys I see breaking into the top 5 are Chris R, Chris S, and Blake.

His scenes with Holly were nice though. They’re sweet together and I understand why some people think that they have more chemistry than Tate/Holly do. And I liked that Doug III opened up to her about his past. Maybe that could lead to something good happening in the future.  I also enjoyed Roman and Kate, and how they’re both being tied into EJ’s shooting. The mystery of it all is really compelling. I don’t think Roman is the shooter though either.  I didn’t have much sympathy for Kristen though. She has no one to blame for Rachel’s problems than herself. But at the same time, I’m really surprised that Days actually remembered the Alex/Kristen fling. I thought Ron had erased that from existence. I’m not shipping them at all, but I’m definitely shipping a permanent end to Brady/Kristen but after today, I’m not so sure about that either.  And, Johnny and Chanel were still great together

    • Some country club revelation thoughts from a casual watcher no one asked for. The Great: Daphnee Duplaix gave the best performance we've seen yet. Nicole's dialogue was also well thought out and felt character specific. TJ Maxx Ted was also pretty good. Trisha Mann-Grant steals every scene she's in. Often without even trying. Carrying multiple episodes worth of exposition heavy soap dialogue with starts and stops and recapping and drama and humor is no small feat and she nailed. Vernon telling Lesliana to STFU.  The Bad: So much of the dialogue for the rest of the cast was overly written. Martin said "You are a vile human being with a hole in your heart!". Marty, what are we doing? It's SO dramatic and sounds so silly coming from this grown man. Do Bill and Hayley do anything but talk about the Duprees? And the nerve of her to get so excited to find out Ted is a cheater when she and her husband are too. There should be a hint of shame mixed in with your glee, ma'am. The Questionable: Coffee and a rendition of Amazing Grace after finding out Nicole was betrayed by her husband. The Duprees are an odd bunch. The stinger of one segment had Anita prepared to lambast Lesliana, when we came back someone else was talking. When Anita eventually said something to Wig, it was a lukewarm at best. And then of course she thought singing a song about something that should absolutely not be extended to her son-in-law. The entire family allowing this deranged woman to speech at them in their own was...nuts. I know she said something about what would the neighbors say but my GOD. Is she just going to be allowed to trespass whenever she feels like it now? The focus on Leslie and her wig usage as an oddity is...odd. I think Chelsea said something like "and she wears wigs!" (while wearing a buss down middle part). Okay? It's just not that odd for a black woman to change up her hair. It's the different names that's the problem. I know it's meant to be humorous, in a throwback soap kind of way, but it fell flat for me.  I'm sorry I find the whole family to be WEIRD. It's like they want us to see them as ruthless yet benevolent, open yet furtive, snobbish yet tooth achingly sweet all at the same time. I cannot get a lock on the family dynamics. Everyone is just there.  I'm gonna cry if this show doesn't start giving us ages (or close to it!) for these characters. Because if Eva is 21-22 then Martin was being given crayons, a soda pop and blinders when he was 15-17 years old. Martin had to have been under 8 for me to buy this story, which would make Eva and Kat late 20s (Martin is at least 35 since he wants to run for president), which I don't think they're meant to be. It's honestly minor but it bothers me. I've mentioned this to @Vee but I think the optics on opening the show with both sisters discovering their husbands of over 30 years are cheaters should've been considered. I doubt there was any intention behind it, no one's rubbing their hands together as they scheme to say the married black men can't stay loyal but how does it look? Maybe it's just me. Honestly it's probably just me!
    • Thank you very much!!!! I really appreciate it!!! I also have read the GH coffee table book from the 90s!!!
    • For a homeless woman, June sure has nice teeth. I agree Ted didn't bring the power in the fallout scenes but to can him and leave Tomas, Martin and Derek onscreen? i'm not looking forward to Martin's secret being revealed and have him flail in the spotlight scenes. Yes, he's got a little better, but... When someone like Timon delivers with every line reading, you wonder how some other casting decisions were made. And I need sunglasses every time characters are at Uptown-is that green paint left over from GL's Cedars Hospital makeover? And for the cliffhanger, instead of the Door dash nonsense, simply have Leslie encounter Vanessa on her way out and push past her to enter. As there is no front door have Leslie barge into the living room, with Vanessa following.  Then Nicole can tell Vanessa- it's OK she can leave them alone.
