Days: Picture Quality..

I dunno if anyone else has noticed this, but it looks like the picture quality on the show has changed. It doesn't have that overly foggy type Soap opera look it had going for a while. It looks alot more natural. Maybe it's just me?

I noticed that too. I don't know how to explain it... it's different.

Count me in as someone who has noticed the change.

DAYS is not as fuzzy soap looking as it was...it seems like the picture quality has improved..images are sharper or something..I don't know but I definetly see the difference.

Yeah there is a difference. It kind of reminds me of what happened in 2002. The show had the fuzzy feel in 2001 too I beleive and then in 2002 it changed too. When JER returned, the fuzzy feel came back and has stayed since. I like it-the show looks better IMO.

Glad to see I wasn't the only who noticed. It's just a lot more sharper and such. You can really notice in Penthouse scenes.

Don't you find that a bit weird? When he came back, that fuzzy feel came back... and now that he's gone, it's gone with him. ;)

And yeah, Antoyne, you can really notice the picture quality during the Penthouse scenes. It's different-I like it, though.

Haha, I think it's our own imaginations here. The head writer has nothing to do with picture quality. I think we just associated the poor fuzzy quality with JER.

Yeah, it's definitely not the JER thing; "Passions" is one of the sharpest soaps out there. No fuzz at all. I'll have to check my "Days" tape later tonight to see this change. Don't get me wrong, I noticed a nice change I couldn't explain about a week ago in a Penthouse scene. Marlena and Belle were talking and my GOSH, it was beautiful. Something was different and made the show easier to watch because of that difference in production values. Anyway, can't wait to give it a CLOSE examine this time.

The lighting is different and it seems like the editing people were sober and didn't leave their finger on the brightness button. It makes the show look more primetime IMO.

PSNS always seems too dark and/or orange to me. And DAYS always seems fuzzy. I watch DAYS on SOAPNET now. It's always pretty good quality on there.

 So true!!!

Passions has terrible lighting IMO. I don't why but the objects always seem brigher then the characters in the scenes. The lighting on the characters always seems dim while the objects just look brighter. Days right now does have a primetime feel to it and I like it.

I noticed that the scenes are sharper, clearer, too and wondered if it weren't just part of the overhaul of production. The scenes are so much better, the sets are better, point in question, the Brady Pub decorations, the hospital is totally different, Sami's apartment has added features and so does Kate's suite. It's filled up with meaningful things. Now that Mimi and Belle are out of the Loft, I wonder what will happen with it. Will it be abandoned with all the history of it or rejuvenated and new tenants arriving, soon. Who???

I actually like Passions' picture quality. Its definitely the clearest, sharpest soap.

AMC's is almost like the total opposite, all grainy and fuzzy.

I agree, DaysPassionsFan. Besides, without the sharp picture quality, "Passions" couldn't get away with their special effects. I can't explain it but those SFX woudn't work with a foggy look. But yes, I love "Passions' look more than all the other soaps.

Anyway, finally watched that Monday tape. Saw it for sure on "Days." It's sharper. But it's not "Passions" sharp yet. I wish "Days" would go ALL the way with the new look. If it doesn't work fine, we'll accept that, but the show should at least TRY to go all the way sharp.

I don't like the 'sharp' look on soaps. It makes them look cheaper. The "fuzzy" look with a soft focus lens is what I'm used to with my soaps. It's the way they always have been. You can always tell when a soap is on when you're flipping the channels because of the soft-focus lens, and I LIKE it that way.
