IDK how everyone else feels but I dont like how much more modern SVU is getting into the detective's personal lives. SVU from the start was more personal than OG Law & Order but the stories seem to increasingly  involve the detectives rather than them just investigating the case. For example Olivia being kidnapped or taken hostage etc..

I was really hoping for Stabler to come back to SVU but his new show is decent, and the frequent crossovers somewhat fill the void. Getting them romantically involved however may kill whatever tension between them and they should probably wait till the end of the show...then again it's been 22 years so we've been teased enough.

As I said in the thread about the revival, I don't know how I feel. While the original should have outlasted SVU and should not have been axed for the failure that was Law & Order: Los Angeles, it has been over a decade since this last aired.

And many of the existing cast members are now on other shows. And, frankly, the current writing on Dick Wolf shows does not exactly inspire confidence in me that the revival will not end up schitting on the original. And some, let's be honest, are too old now. (I adore Sam Waterston, but the man is over 80 now.) That means new blood, and casting is very hit or miss.

Sometimes, things are best left alone. (But I will watch the first episode to gauge an opinion should it truly come to pass.)

I've been hoping for this to happen almost as long as I've been hoping for AMC/OLTL to come back. This show was canceled abruptly due to mismanagement and the grand ego of Jeff Zucker - the guy who said "DAYS" wouldn't be on the air beyond 2009. That guy. How he ever went on to other higher paying and demanding positions when all he ever did was fail upward is beyond me.

That's the same guy behind the Tonight Show Jay/Conan kafuffle as well. I don't know about this. The beauty of L&O the mothership was that the episodes were about the CASE, not the characters' personal lives and I don't trust Wolf/NBC not to screw that up. Besides, it's been over a decade. I say just leave it alone, but who knows.

    • It definitely flowed beautifully. So much that I was annoyed when Vanessa/Doug because I wanted to get back to the party. I know it was intentional to build up tension and suspense. It worked. lol. I'm glad it was there in hingsight because it gave us that great conversation between Doug and Vanessa. Foreshadowing? And yesss!!! This episode was sooo old school soap giving beat after beat after beat leading up to the unveiling of Eva as Ted's daughter. And we still have plenty of fallout/aftereffects to work through.   Speaking of...Bill, Bill, Bill lol. Good to have confirmation HE was the scary lawyer.   I'm sure I will have a busy Monday, but I can't wait for it. I don't know what I'm looking forward to more. Probably Anita vs Silk Press Sheila tbh. And yes, I feel they will be matching each other 'blow for blow.'
    • And if they go there, it could also be tied to Johnny completely cutting him off, possibly going to work for Titan, etc.
    • @AbcNbc247 maybe it is just that they've gone to that well too often, and I don't like when DAYS goes dark, but I'm OK with EJ abusing drugs, and just skipping the whole sobriety part. Side note: experiencing hallucinations of my son killing me would be enough for me to never want to take a pill again.

    • Part of the reason that Courtney worked at OLTL was because the show had an actual character for her to play.  One that was somewhat different than her character on AW, and after the way she was treated over at AW.. it had to have been nice to be courted onto a new soap that actually valued your contributions.
    • I figured the "long" was already implied

    • The show has finally figured out the correct scene to have at the end of the episode. The one thing I loved about the show today was that we got a pretty decent length scene of Silk Press Sheila at the celebration without any cutaways.  It reminded me of an old school soap opera scene that would run several moments (i.e. Renee's long speech going after the upstanding citizens of Salem on Days in 1983 before her murder).   I think Anita and Silk Press Sheila would be evenly matched.. she would be the one person that Anita would have to work to get the best of.    I do agree that Derek/Ashley were probably cut from the episode.. and maybe their scenes will be used in a different episode.  The scenes that were included (Bill/Hayley and Vanessa/Doug) had something to do with the scenes going on at the party.    Unpopular opinion:  I actually prefer Bill with Hayley.. .they make a good couple.
