I hope Katherine makes that b-tch Susan pay. I was shocked by the wedding outcome bc I was so sure Mike would have married Kat last season

Marc Cherry has sealed a new deal that could keep "Desperate Housewives" on the air through 2013.As part of a two-year extension Cherry signed with ABC Studios, Cherry will remain exec producer of "Housewives" for an eighth and ninth season. (The skein is currently in its sixth year.)

Whether or not "Housewives" continues until then will now depend on the show's core cast members, who are only committed through the 2010-11 season, the show's seventh.

Also signing a two-year extension with ABC Studios is Cherry's top "Housewives" lieutenant, Bob Daily, who will also now remain with the show through those potential eighth and ninth years.

Daily will continue to take a more active role in running the show, particularly as Cherry ramps up his development at the studio. Should one of Cherry's new projects go to series, the studio noted that Daily's role would be "critical" in keeping day-to-day operations at "Housewives" running smoothly.

Cherry now has two projects in the works for the Alphabet, including a drama he's writing with "Housewives" exec producer Alexandra Cunningham. The two of them will exec produce along with another "Housewives" exec producer, Sabrina Wind.

As for the other project, Cherry is working with scribes Jeffrey Bowen and Hunter Bell (both of whom will write) on a multicamera comedy about two mismatched brothers. One sibling is gay, one straight, and the two share a gynecological practice -- but neither knows the first thing about women.

Also attached to the laffer are Wind and Michael Barresse.

Cherry "has been such a special part of the network," said ABC Entertainment Group topper Steve McPherson. "For me it's been an amazing collaboration. It's wonderful to know that he'll be around. The new stuff that he's already working on is a huge priority for us."

Daily, meanwhile, will also start developing projects for the Alphabet while focusing on his "Housewives" duties.

"Bob's such a huge part of 'Desperate Housewives' and is such an extraordinary partner for Marc," McPherson said. "It was extremely important for the network, the studio and for Marc that we secure this relationship with Bob."

Pact with Cherry has been in the works for several months. Cherry had originally hinted that he might end the show sooner, after seven seasons (when his deal was originally up).

But at a cake-cutting ceremony for the show's 100th episode last December, the exec producer let it slip that he had talked to the Alphabet brass about continuing through season nine.

"Desperate Housewives" remains a strong performer for ABC, clocking in as Sunday's most-watched entertainment program all five weeks it has been on the air so far this season. "Housewives" is also one of Disney's top DVD franchises and has been sold in more than 220 territories around the globe. Local versions of the show have also been launched in several markets.

Why was Mike planning in proposing to Katherine if he never loved her and only wanted Susan?

I hope Orson is dead, he's worn out as a character.

I think the effect with the plane landing on the street was pretty bad. I loved the drama though :)

Well, Mona is dead. That's for sure. Homer Simpson and his wife too. I think Karl will die, not Orson. But, the bloody hand was Bree's (it looked to me like a woman's hand). I hope Lynette is fine. Love her.

Katherine is acting out of character this season. Dana Delaney is amazing however.

The minute I saw that plane in the opening segment, I started sizing up who was gonna die. I thought for sure tht the blackmailer was a goner. I also feared for Dylan

I wonder what they will do with Kathrine now bc the character does seem to have run her course. The plotting against Mike and Susan was fun at first but has gotten old

I hadnt thought of Lynnette losing her babies but I think that may happen. She sacrifices her own children to save Gabby's daughter. Wow, thats some powerful stuff to deal with if they go that route

I like Karl but not with Bree. I wonder if he will be killed off. Id love to see Bree and Orson back together

Was the show any good during season 5?

I've watched the first four seasons and loved them (okay, maybe season two was a bit off in quality, but it picked up in season three again).

No, season 5 was the worst season of DH yet. This season is currently so much better.

So far for me it has been:

1. Season 3

2. Season 1

3. Season 4

4. Season 6

5. Season 2

6. Season 5

I read online that

Katherine is becoming a lesbian

That...will deffinitely...shake things up? lol

Ugh. It was the worst of all of them. Started off OKish but it was the first time I didn't quite mind if I missed an episode. And I missed a lot of them towards the end.

YES! Absolute and total agreement. That is exactly how I would have ranked the Seasons. Season 3 was such a brilliant, energetic season, and it wasn't even hindered by Cross' temporary exit.

I found tonight's episode offensive. So Katherine decides to go muff diving out of the blue, just like she would say.. "Oh, I think I'll have the Kung Pao chicken tonight"! This whole wishy-washy/ fluid sexuality/ Anne Heche Bullshit makes me angry. It feeds into this "It's a choice" thing that the right wing uses against us. Marc Cherry should know better.

Katherine being a lesbian???rolleyes.gif Please Marc Cherry....Really???????rolleyes.gif No wonder Undercover Boss is beating it in the ratings. The Andrew stuff was intereting but I felt I missed some scenes. The show is just too jarring concerning the stories.

Oh no he didn't! Katherine a lesbian? God, and I really wanted to catch up, but I don't think I will. I'm very nearly done with this show (and from the looks of it, so are another four million viewers)!
