The Media/Journalism Thread
I think the problem at the border as @vee said is ongoing. It's the lazy media that is ignoring that aspect. But I also think the admin was trying to do what they could with EO's until their people got in place. I don't think it's a coincidence that Mayorka and Baccera were both slow-walked, but I say who cares if the GOP won't do anything. Like on COVID relief use this chance and expose them. I do think it's another issue that people are hyperventilating over that really is not fully resonating. Granted I live in a generally liberal to moderate state but while there has been local news coverage of immigration challenges, most everything is still focused to everyday folks on COVID whether it's vaccinations, re-openings of businesses, schools, sporting events and so on. Remember there are still these issues which are impacting the ability for folks to get back to something that's closer to what they consider normal. Hard to focus on other things when your own life is still is a quandry.

I think the administration right now is missing a golden opportunity to exploit the over attentive news coverage on the border issue(which has existed for several months) to turn this into a rallying cry for immigration reform. I was watching a clip of Jacob Sobaroff who was on The View today(he's one of the few reporters I trust on this issue) who was honest about the current problem which has existed for almost a year and pretty much ignored by the media. The comments about not being allowed in the facilities is disturbing and it just causes photos to be leaked. Maybe some of this was problematic because the lazy senate took so long to confirm the new heads of DHS and HHS. But now that the media is hyperventilating, use this as a chance to rally Americans to the side of immigration reform. Let the reporters in to show people what the administration inherited. It might finally be the chance to get real reform passed.

Isn't he co-chair of the worthless problem solvers caucus. Good riddance.

Who around him would be recommending this? It's stupid frankly. I am so tired of this nonsense about marijuana being a gateway drug. What would he do if Obama was his VP and admitted to smoking pot. Suspend him and ask him to resign?

As I said I don't think it matters what congress does. They would probably end up appealing it anyway. Just like they are appealing taking money from the recovery act. Dumb.

I don't think the GOP doing this has a thing to do with knowing or not knowing. Why would it matter? I think you are partially right. People like Feinstein who apparently is going to run again? She's 87. Her time has past. And I really don't like saying that but they need fresh blood. I feel like people like Jon Tester will in the end go for it. And I think Manchin is a blowhard but will move provided he gets what he wants. He pulled this crap with the Recovery Act and ended up getting really nothing for being an attention whore. Could be wrong. But I got burned listening to the press on the passing of the Recovery Act and how Manchin was backing out when apparently his support was never in danger. It's why I am ignoring these stories. I think people like Klobuchar coming out was a big deal and that led some other moderates to speak out. And Biden is on board. I still say if Manchin feels like the senate can work, he should work. He's part of that bipartisan group that has done zip. Like the problem solvers caucus in the House. Worthless. But let him get 10 GOPers. And make it a piece of legislation he claims to care about.

This process is just beginning. Biden coming out in favor of reform is a big deal and people now have to make their case. Things don't happen overnight. I'd suggest Schumer give Manchin a project on a piece of legislation he supports - like the John Lewis Voting Rights Act and see what 10 GOP senators he can sway. As soon as he fails to because he won't get 10, then move. Because at the end of the day McConnell has broken every single commitment and rule he claims to want and he'll break the filibuster too. Democrats worrying about him having control of the senate again are the typical Feinsteins who are 80 plus years old and scared to death to do anything. Jon Tester IMO his stand is more reasonable and can be persuaded as I think others can too. Manchin IMO is a show boater period. Just like the recovery act at the last minute, he loves the attention he's getting.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
He's been accused and was frequently in the company of Epstein. And there is proof that he was on Epstein Island several times. One of the young women who accused him was 14 and said she was molested by he and Epstein. He has also REFUSED to be interviewed by the FBI. But hey he's the Queens son so lets target the black lady and stick his crimes on page 25. Just like they dusted WIlliam's affairs out of the papers entirely.

No one is saying gut the filibuster they are talking about reform. And going back to the way it used to work which Manchin was open to seems a good step. McConnell would not be freaking out about scorched earth tactics if he was not worried. He doesn't even want reform. And I think democrats now know if they don't do something, if McConnell doesn't die first, he will kill it.

Uhm what? Having a pedophile in the family is not a family issue? Wow. But not curtseying the right way is a felony offense.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
Someone in the UK needs to explain to me because I don't understand, why Meghan is so offensive (outside of the obvious) but Prince Andrew who is a pedophile, well his actions are accepted. You're talking about protocols when there is a child rapist in the family like it's just another day.

Not just Trump associates. There were plenty of people on the extreme "left" who were on this story also. Makes me wonder again if people like Matt Taibbi were recruited when they were in Russia. Greenwald's slobbering over Russia must certainly be tied to the deal for Snowden or who knows maybe it's something more salacious.

I am no Andrew Cuomo fan never have been, but it's kind of nice to see the constant attacks by the media on Cuomo while ignoring DeSantis, Abbott, and Noem hasn't really had an impact. Most people don't want Cuomo to resign. Yes his popularity has suffered and people don't want him to run again, but the resignation push is not working. And of course the headline again an eyeroll. The Media/Journalism Thread
It's not working because Trump made himself the center of the news daily and the beltway press loved it for various reasons. Mostly cheap stories and ego. They have no interest in doing any real journalism. What they are finding out is that Joe Biden doesn't do this and has shown he doesn't care about what they think or feel. Main example of this is trying to make the fact he has not had an "official" press conference a story. The actual American people don't care. There are daily briefings, and Biden has talked directly to the American people on several occasions. They are just exposing who they are and they are not journalists they are tabloid reporters. Another example is the Ron Johnson garbage. I don't want to say who cares but if the press is not going to come out and call him what he is and what he always has been (uhm the GOP) I have no interest in hearing about it. And I think a lot of non people of color like me feel the same way.

I think you're looking at this the wrong way. The more the media does stuff like this the less the public cares. That's what their hair is on fire coverage of every Trump tweet did. Ultimately the impact it had was people care less what they have to say. That's why no one cares as they try to keep showing the GOP stand on the relief bill. At the end of the day folks want less talk and more help.

The only thing I believe they are making a story - is the issue at the border now and criticizing the Biden admin for not calling it a crisis.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
I guess despite some of the blowback from the interview, people don't like folks attacking someone who suffered from a mental health problem. I am sure there are some who will say Meghan is a drama queen blah blah and say she was imagining it all. Seems to be par for the course for a lot of people suffering from mental health issues.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
Probably Andrew because I guess pedophiles are persecuted. Notice how the defenders of the BRF don't ever say a word about why the BRF never came out in support of Meghan and Harry and all the attacks in the press. NOT ONE WORD. Yet Andrew well they circle him with their protection for a pedophile.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
This is true . But it's a far cry from the BRF saying Harry and Meghan said they didn't want it. They didn't lie. When they first moved to Canada there were still working royals which entitled them to protection. The security was pulled when they decided to step away permanently. That was when Meghan asked the BRF to keep some level of security for Harry and Archie. I personally don't think taxpayers should have to pay for non working members of the family, but they didn't lie about the decision made.

Harry and Meghan Interview with Oprah
This is the article from Buzzfeed that has the 20 headline stories covering Kate and Meghan and how they were approached differently between the two For those of you here who seem to think Meghan is some master manipulator, if TRF was so in support of Meghan and Harry, I'd like one example where any of them stepped forward to contradict any of this. Enablement is complicity. And they were in on it. I frankly would not trust any of them at this point. As by the way they still all cover for Andrew who is an actual criminal.
