  1. Actually no there are not always two sides to every story. That mindset is the reason the US still sits on a possible move into fascism is because our own media and press corp treat people who spread outright lies about election results for example as the other side of an issue when it's an outright lie.
  2. Well Oprah shared a tidbit this AM on the CBS Morning show that Harry made a point to tell her it was NOT Elizabeth or Phillip who said it. That leaves William
  3. This clip was not part of the interview but very interesting. I think Harry is or maybe was naive about British society and culture. This was a wakeup call for him for sure. I also don't understand those defending the monarchy on this. With The Commonwealth being celebrated, do people realize the population demographics of a good number of the countries that are part of it. I believe Meghan and Harry initially asked if they could go live in one of those countries and fill their roles there and they were told no. Could you imagine the monarchy being this shortsighted. 4. Just for the record, Charles yes is trash and it's contemptible that he froze out his own son. That said, I think William was the one who made the comments about Meghan and Harry's child. William has turned out to be IMO the spitting image of daddy dearest and maybe it was bound to happen with Diana gone. But the final straw for me with him were those comments he made at the onset of COVID downplaying it and poking fun at people impacted by it. He's scum.
  5. Yeah I read about that and here is the link for those who didn't read the story. Shameful. Amanda Gorman Says Security Guard Confronted Her, Saying She Looked ‘Suspicious’ - The New York Times (nytimes.com) And I hope you know I was asking that question about Meghan and Harry living on their own money ironically. We know what it's about. I have read people justifying the hits on Markle by saying "She didn't grow up black". Basically because she had a slightly more affluent upbringing, she doesn't get to pull out the race card. And by the way when people started bringing up Andrew, people tried to use Oprah as a shield claiming she had no room to ask questions about him because she enabled Weinstein. It was just an attack on yet another black woman, trying to diminish her voice too. I had to remind one of my colleagues who brought this up that Weinstein is in JAIL serving time while Andrew continues to be ignored by the entire media conglomerate in the UK. The fact that the TRF negotiated a deal to ignore Andrew and go after Meghan with press and media all over the UK, especially with the Murdoch's says all you need to know. That family has done more to damage democracy than any media entity in the past 70 years. Enabling the toxic monarchy is right up their alley.
  6. Disappointed but understand. People are paging Claire McCaskill. I pass on that. Remember she lost her race and IMO went into panic mode towards of the end of her campaign by endorsing Trump's caravan nonsense.
  7. Jason Kander almost beat him last time. Where is he now?
  8. By the way for those who choose to think big bad Meghan is the evil one here(I see Charles and the rest of the establishment royals and the entire firm are all the victims again as they were with Diana), here is a little reminder that I don't believe Harry and Meghan are wanted in the US by the FBI for questioning in connection with sex trafficking and under age sex investigations. And Andrew, as was already said, still holds all his titles. Harry who actually served in a war zone was stripped of his. I am not sure what people are so angry about anyway. Yeah they are still rich and still have loads of money but are folks angry that they are not reliant on taxpayer money. They chose where they want to live. Big deal. We can keep Meghan and Harry and the TRF can adopt Ted Cruz, Josh Hawley, and Marjorie Taylor Greene.
  9. None of this interview surprises me and for those Meghan haters out there, the racial aspect here is incredibly obvious. The press in the UK have eviscerated her and they did use her race to drum up the press against her, the same way that the GOP used Obama's race to generate hate against him, to deflect from the rot embedded in their respective institutions. I am not saying the situations are exactly the same, but the pattern of using biases that these institutions know exists, to drive a wedge between people to deflect attention from their own rot is glaring. I thought Harry's comments were interesting in that they know once the press turns against them, TRF knows they are done. So they leak cheap shots at Meghan to get the press to target her. I don't think Meghan and Diana have a lot in common. Diana certainly had a good amount of press on her side- one thing she knew was how to work - but both were ostracized for daring to challenge the status quo. You'd think after how badly they handled Diana's situation they might have learned. I thought at least her boys especially William would be a bridge to a more contemporary institution but Harry's comments solidified they are still stuck in 1950. I give him some credit for really not going there on his family and saying that both Charles and William are stuck like he was at one time. I'm not sure i buy that entirely but I can empathize to some extent. Of course the biggest piece of proof is how they have dealt with Andrew. Here is someone who hung out with a serial pedophile, likely raped young girls and he's still there - his CRIMES basically ignored. And I am sorry to those who chose not to believe it, partially used Meghan as a shield also to deflect from his crimes. And yes they are crimes.
  10. This is another opportunity. For states that have had no expansion, put it on the ballot and let people vote on it in places like Texas and Florida.
  11. I think we all myself included need to stop chastising the bill. There is a ton of good stuff in it that is going to help millions of people. The anti poverty element in this is huge. And while I am still pissed about the min wage, maybe Sewell's bill is a better approach. It actually might have a chance of passing in the senate. Well maybe lol. Lets see if any of those working class heroes like Little Marco and Josh Hawley vote for a standalone min wage bill since they represent the party of working people. I already know the answer. In the meantime states that don't have a increased min wage need to get working on getting a referendum on their 2022 ballot. About the only thing I agree with Michael Moore on is getting ballot initiatives in place that will draw people out to vote. Marijuana legislation was one and now it's time to get those min wage referendums on every state ballot across the country. Arizona by the way has one of the hghest minimum wages in the country. I believe it's $12.50. Why? Because theirs is indexed with COL.
  12. We all need to be realistic about bills. Most good legislation involves compromise. The compromise in this bill was pointless but people did get that concession on taxable UI income which is a bigger deal than the extra $100/wk. The limitations on the $1400 was pointless. Neither of these compromises really saved any money. It was just posturing which makes me angry. Just so Manchin can look like a tough guy. There are lots of good things in this bill people are not even aware of. If you lose your job Cobra payments will be covered. This is a big deal. The smartest part of this bill is it extends into 2022 which is to the democrats advantage politically. And now that Sanders $15/hr min wage proposal tanked, I say the dems should take up Terri Sewell's bill in the house. It's actually a good compromise.
  13. As I said Rand Paul Jr.
  14. Manchin is all about performance and doing his own self defined means testing. He's now agree to the extra $300 through Sept and only non taxable if the person's income is less than $150k. What the hell kind of BS is this? He's a showboat. He and Sinema are the Rand Paul versions of the democratic party - showboating. I can't decide at this point if Sinema is worse because of bringing that fricking chocolate cake into the senate daring people to call her Marie Antionette. As for why she didn't vote for $15/hr, Kelly did who is more popular than she is so who knows. Find another popular moderate in Arizona and run them against her in the primary. I know that will never happen, but this drama queen is a PITA At one point I was fine with Sanders bringing that amendment to a vote but I didn't know so many democrats including Chris Coons Biden's right hand man was going to vote against it. This is why Sanders is such a disaster. Did he not know who was for and against it other than Manchin and Sinema? I am actually more intrigued with Terri Sewells proposal on the minimum wage increase which takes into account regional differences in COL. At this point someone needs to get this caucus in line. For all the grief Pelosi gets, she does get the votes done with minimal drama. I'm at this point advocating for Klobuchar to become majority leader. She's a centrist and coming out against the filibuster shows me she has some guts. I've thought she would have been better than Schumer from day1.
  15. After forcing the clerks in the Senate to stay up reading the relief bill, no republicans showed up this morning. so this happened. I love it.
  16. I'm with you on this in fact they need to have a messaging campaign on this and NOT let the fascists drive the narrative. FDR used to have signage and messaging all over the CCC and WPA projects that were being worked on all over the country. They should brand the American Recover Act and advertise. Sounds tacky but it is needed.
  17. Oh thank goodness for that.
  18. This I am happy to see. Klobuchar is a workhorse in the senate and this means something that she's come out for abolishing the filibuster.
  19. The limit is going from $80,000 to $75,000. I thought it was 75 to begin with, so what is the POINT of dropping it. All it does is give the GOP a talking point. And it's not worth it. The idea of dropping the $400 unemployment supplement to $300 is also stupid. Again so little money sounds pointless. If they got a commitment from Manchin on the filibuster in return for this so that they can pass HR1 then I'd get it. EDIT: So sorry I got this mixed up. It zeros out at 80k. This is a even dumber move.
  20. I have to admit I don't really care that Tanden is gone. I just hate how it went. Manchin is such a phony and you just know it was because he was pissed about her tweet about his daughter and her price gauging and nothing else. Not that I ever cared much for Manchin but this seals my opinion of him, I read that Reverend Barber recruited a ton of what we all refer to as essential workers from West Virginia to approach Manchin on the min wage increase and even Barber said he was frustrated because no matter how many stories folks from West Virginia told, not one thing touched Manchin enough to make him budge.
  21. This won't go anywhere but introducing an $15/hr amendment is a good way to keep pressure on and the issue in the forefront. NEWS: Sanders Announces $15 Minimum Wage Amendment to Reconciliation Bill, Calls for Senate Democrats to Ignore Parliamentarian » Senator Bernie Sanders
  22. This is why not dumping the filibuster is so assinine. HR1 is the most important piece of legislation at this point.
  23. And where is the new VRA while all this voter suppression is going on? Ugh Anyway in greedy defense contractor news. The U.S. Air Force Just Admitted The F-35 Stealth Fighter Has Failed (forbes.com)
  24. I get that but there are comments from Tester and Neal also because they are concerned with messaging? How about out message the GOP for once. I guess I am just deflated a bit about the min wage. I honestly didn't think the ruling would go in favor of it, but I expected some sort of backup plan.
  25. Are these people kidding. Why am I already disenchanted with democrats. They won't raise taxes when Biden made a campaign promise to roll back the Trump tax cuts. Who is going to complain about raising taxes on the people who have made out like gangbusters during the pandemic. Democrats hesitant to raise taxes amid pandemic | TheHill
