  1. Ellen Weston was hired by John Conboy at Capitol & at Y&R. Then, in 2003 he hired her as HW at GL. She worked for GL until David Kreizman was made HW in 2004. so, a year. Her main story was the Maryanne Carruthers mystery. She was criticized for it because it seemed to be a story from the past. A friend of Weston's, Carrie Nye, was brought on to play a part. Weston had made major revisions to that threatened 5 of the adult men of Springfield with that murder 30 years ago. She brought on Eden August, brunette madam, who seduced Ben Reade and caused him to become a gigolo who then took his own life. There were 5 teens at the time and she had them tunneling in the old museum until they fell through the floor in Danny & Michelle's apartment. She broke up Mara & Tony. She created Sandy & the handpuppet & pretended that Sandy was Jonathan. A friend of mine had her first interview with her & found that to be appalling.
  2. They wrote them as a classic pair of antagonists who were at first arguing with each other about everything. But, Natalia was helping to take care of Olivia & her little girl Emma because Olivia had had to have that heart transplant of Gus's heart. Gradually they became friends. And, then, they became attracted to each other. And, then, that became intense. Then, they had to deal with Natalia's feelings about her Roman Catholocism. Then, Natalia slept with Frank - and so got pregnant. By then, Natalia and Olivia were in love with each other.
  3. What it is is a post of what happened to Holly at the end of her life & of what Maureen had to play & didn't like playing - the Nursery Rhyme Stalker being one & Roger's son Sebastian being two. There's no copy/paste from anything. It's strictly out of the top of my head. That's what I saw, watching the show. It mattered. It was terrible writing slapped onto my favorite character. I just would've appreciated better writing for Holly. Oh, and, I'm not apologizing for my writing of that text because I think it was well-written.
  4. You perhaps thought that Olivia was definitely a man-lover? And, that that would keep her from falling in love with a woman? But, in real life, sometimes that is just what happens. Same thing with Natalia. There was no sign of her falling in love with a woman until she did. Their story was written so slowly and so carefully that it made complete sense to me.
  5. The man who raped Gloria Rideout is revisited in being found guilty of two other rapes https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/crime/2017/03/16/ohn-rideout-guilty-rape-sodomy-jury-oregon/99235728/ I was a big fan of Tom Pelphrey's and of the character of Jonathan Randall. But, I can completely see how GL fans could resent ATWT at the end. That extra time that ATWT got was a big factor. I wouldn't call yourself irrational if I were you. That's interesting to hear about. I always loved Marcy Walker & I never really got why so many people seemed to dislike Tangie Hill. And, I both knew & loved Liz & Marureen.
  6. "The time when the daypart was literally a 'cash cow' that supported the nighttime was leaving. And, as it went the nighttime shows were taking with them some elements that the daypart invented & refined!" - Donna L. Bridges "Soap operas are one of a really interesting genre of American broadcasting because women have always been so prominent in their creation," Elana Levine "The daily viewing habit was a trademark of soap operas," Levine said. "It allowed viewers to get totally immersed in the characters' lives and want to come back for more." "This is the only aspect of the OJ Simpson pre-trial and then trial that I think had anything to do with soaps. In fact, later on, when networks began to broadcast their day's soap episodes at 1 a.m. fans were right back to watching --just every night instead of every day." - Donna L. Bridges "I mean probably the deepest, most heartfelt connections that you hear when people talk about their memories of you know consuming media are these stories from soap operas...it was really powerful to see a character that you knew their family, you knew so much about what had happened to them and seeing them go through difficult times or die or things like that," she said. (In my household we all grew up with the Hortons!) Another fan described how storytelling on "AMC" insults the audience: "It's all about shock value They either have to un-abort an aborted fetus or rape the lesbian and get her pregnant. If that isn't insulting enough, then they kidnap her baby and then, if that's not insulting enough, have her forgive the kidnapper and, if all that wasn't insulting enough, then have her fall in love with a woman with a penis." "We do not live in this world alone, but in a thousand other worlds," which Phillips said represented the difference between "the world of events we live in, and the world of feelings and dreams that we strive for." "I want to thank the fans. I truly believe that they've been incredibly loyal and been with us through all the tough years. I thank them for that, and I hope they'll enjoy the next few months. The outpouring of support for AW has truly been phenomenal." - about AW fans, MADD
  7. "Days of our Lives" has been on NBC since 1965. It was created by Irna Phillips, Ted Corday, and Allan Chase, but its real popularity began the following year when Bill Bell took over as HW. He was succeeded in 1973 by his then-associate Pat Falken-Smith, who oversaw the show's expansion to an hour and the addition of the Brady family (Caroline, Roman, Kimberly, Kayla, Bo, etc.) ... You'll notice that this sample is typed entirely of uppercase letters, not all shows use uppercase letters.
  8. Ann Marcus said she did very little rewriting, which must mean that she either was not as painstaking as she should have been or had marvelous associate writers or had foolproof outlines. She is one who prepares a full days' breakdowns before breakdown conference. - Writing for Daytime Drama, Jean Rouverol © 1992 Going back 6 or 7 years, Wisner Washam was already employing an assistant writer who edited AMC but he did his own editing keeping out cliche & keeping in humor. Doug Marland did his own editing. - Writing for Daytime Drama, Jean Rouverol © 1992
  9. Watched Damages years ago. Rose was so good in it. Can't beat Patty, though, it's true. What is Raising Dion about?
  10. "At NBC programmers admitted that they went to a 90-minute show 'because they couldn't come up with a better idea.'" MARY STUART...If America's three contributions to world culture are musical comedy, jazz, and soap opera, … ROY WINSOR ...lIf Irna Phillips is to be called the mother of soap opera, then Roy Winsor must be called father of the television soap opera HENRY SLESAR ... multi-award-winning master of suspense won a wide following with his sarcastically witty dialogue and patently wild denouements. …
  11. http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/mff1.html Who Killed Frankie Frame? Frankie Frame April 14, 1989 - August 22, 1996 Never Forgotten [It should be noted that in recent interviews, JFP acknowledges blame over Mo's death but says she was not to blame over Frankie. That's simply not true & she is blamed for Framie, by fans, in the AWHP and by WLS.net]
  12. They had such a time of it dealing with the aftermath of Mac's death. Lewis Arlt aka Ken Jordan, a writer who was also an actor who they set up for a romance with Rachel, a poor romance. And that red swan that Mac had had sent to the house! Rachel, Amanda and Matthew were all adrift. Rachel went up northh hunting for the meaning of that red swan.
  13. Thank you juppiter! Send me a PM telling me what your RATSc name was & what a Jonnysbro troll even is!. Because of Y&R and B&B RATSc is still active. And GH has RATSa going, too. I don't know what came of RATSm & DOOL.
  14. Hi, Adam, what it does, is get me out of a bind when I can't get this to work. Very frustrating. But, if won't let me leave it empty.
  15. Delete/still trying to find solution
  16. Who is the #nutjob here? You calling me a name a 3rd time? All I have ever heard about Marcy at GL was that they spent a lot of money on her & it didn't play out very well.
  17. Millee was at GL twice during a certain period of time. I think that's what got me thinking about her & an early germ of Jonathan. But, Kreizman & Wheeler make so much more sense. Head writer of Guiding Light (with Stephen Demorest, Leah Laiman and Nancy Williams Watt) (with Patrick Mulcahey: 1994 - August 1994) 1994 - November 1994 Head Writer of Guiding Light (with Carolyn Culliton) November 2002 - September 12, 2003 Succeeded by Ellen Weston Donna Swajeski That's the second time you've called me a NUT & it flat-out offends me. I have called you NO NAMES. I will call you none. I am better than that. I'm sorry you don't know better than to call names.
  18. 09 - We Need Us All.mp3 When Phillip went a little crazy & kidnapped the kids, some nice jazz played.
  19. It's interesting that LOVING had to sit out by itself, so to speak, initially. Was it LOVING where someone worked for Agnes and said that she returned their work to them, all marked up in red, like a schoolmarm? Patrick Mulcahey.
  20. Hey, Vee, I sure hope not. I am listening. And, I am trying. And, I will keep on, listening and trying.
  21. Oh, now, that is exciting! I adore the two of them.
  22. Robert and Kim both have the bluest of blue eyes. Beverlee McKinsey said she used to get lost in Kim's eyes & not be able to come up with her lines!
