What did you think of his Keith on Santa Barbara? What I'm getting at is what if it's not Deas, what if it's just the way Buzz is?

GH: Character recast
Definitely a win. Van as Lucas, a doctor & also a Spencer.

DAYS: September 2024 Discussion Thread
I'm like 3 days behind. I start to watch the show. But, I don't finish it. I'm not quite sure what is up with me as far as DAYS goes. In the past when I took a break, it was very intentional & this seems more like a bad car accident. "Body & Soul" it is killing me. I hate Hattie, also hate Bonnie. And, of course, I always hate LEO. It's like with Deidre playing Marlena & also Hattie & they both play Charlemagne & WAIT A MINUTE. These are all the same people.

Well, she already has said she was sorry, sincerely. And I expect she will be saying it more. She's experiencing both guilt & regret. However, it really is a multi-faceted situation. Kristina had no way of knowing what an impact being pregnant would have on her. She began this only hoping to do a good thing for her sister, who she loves. Yes, we all know that things went very badly awry. Everyone has lost. Molly is going to have to live with this. I would not like to see a permanent rift. If you ask me, Alexis, stuck in the middle, is doing the best she can.

GH: Character recast
Yeah, to me they are building up in 2 ways: the Spencer family, led by Carly, and the hospital presence, more doctors. I think both of these things could be interesting especially if it means they are diminishing the mob presence. BITD people like Frank Smith were mobsters but as bad guys, not upstanding members of the community. Of course, as noted, we also now have more lawyers,

One thing about Genie is that supposedly she doesn't need this job. She loves the work & that's why she does it. No idea if it is true. But, if it is it might go aways toward explaining her not being ambitious about what Laura is or isn't doing. I love Laura & I think personally she is an excellent matriarch. I'm excited that she soon is going to have more family. I am somewhat concerned, this is entirely spec, not spoiler in any sense of that word. But, what if Natalia's ex is Stilwell?

Holly driving up in the Jeep was a moment of perfection to me in a day of several of those. It reminded me of a time when Roman saved Bo from the Torres family & Mrs. H was driving the getaway car. I cannot think how long it's been since I've seen an extended action scene like that fight! After being mostly critical of Frank, I have to give some kudos there. Marty not giving an inch, fine. Natalia really has a lot of nerve, but we knew this. Diane is so strict, but I kinda love her, although she is much tougher on Carly than she is on her pet client. And, Tracy!!! Loving it. She apologized. Talk about a SURPRISE!!!

You've seen a recent pic of Van? So, there he is. I am enthused. Van is an excellent actor & it's been far too long.

So, I'm still fascinated. If you're not, please scroll on by. McGarry, M., & Hinsey, C. (Eds.). (2024, October 14). The Ultimate Young & Restless Guide: Soap Opera Digest Collector’s Edition. Soap Opera Digest Ultimate Y&R Guide. p.16 Eric Braeden DIGEST: What do you remember about your first day of work? "Couldn't stand it. Didn't like it at all! It was too much dialogue. I didn't like the way they were filming. I came from nighttime television and filme, so I wasn't used to this three or four camera [format]. In nighttime it's 'Quiet, Rolling, Action!' Here it's '5 4 3 2 1' All these [technical] things were new to me and what soon became obvious to me is that it is a very ruthless medium in the sense that it goes so fast and you have very little time to discuss the scene, you just do it! It took me about a year, really, to get used to it." DIGEST: Why did you agree to stay past those first few months? "My wife talked me into it. She said, 'Why don't you look at it as a challenge?' Because I didn't like it. I was depressed about it and I couldn't stand playing the bad guy over & over & over & over again. I had a long discussion with my wife & she said, 'Look, you look at everything as a competition, why don't you look at this as a competition & prove yourself & them wrong? That you can do within those limiting parameters.' I mean 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40 pages a day! The most I've done was 62 pages a day. That changed my whole attitude toward the medium. Do I like it? Yeah, obviously it has been very good to me & I like the idea of telling stories, long-term stories." DIGEST: When Victor was first introduced, his storyline did not allow for a particularly wide range of emotional colors; he was more of a black-and- white villain. "The man who made the difference, as with everything, was Bill Bell. I went to Bill and I said, "I am just worn out from playing bad guys. I've done it on nighttime for many, many years. I've had it! I'm just empty, I can't do it anymore. Could you please come up with a storyline that explains why Victor Newman is who he is?' And, the storyline he came up with [that Victor was abandoned by his mother at an orphanage as a boy] was just brilliant."

This I found irresistible. It's not often someone seriously uses the word "genius." I've read it about Irna. Now I've read it about Bill. McGarry, M., & Hinsey, C. (Eds.). (2024, October 14). The Ultimate Young & Restless Guide: Soap Opera Digest Collector’s Edition. Soap Opera Digest Ultimate Y&R Guide. p.16 Eric Braeden credits his success to the creator of Y&R and also of Victor, William J. Bell "We are still living off of Bill Bell's foundation. He was a genius, pure and simple." One day I was playing tennis with my friend, the actor Dabney Coleman & he asked what was up for me. I told him, "It's a soap. They want me to do a soap." I confessed to him that I knew nothing at all about daytime. He replied, "Try it. You'll love it." And, on the strength of his recommendation I went to the interview & I talked to several people. Ed Scott, Susan Wiard & I believe John Conboy. So I agreed to try it but for a maximum of 3 months. And, as they say, 44 years later, the rest is history.

I'm not really talking about anyone refusing to play something they might be asked to play. More of what I mean is that they pretty much know what will or will not happen. So not throwing weight around as much as just being aware. And, my impression from what it was that he recently said is that it's not gonna happen. So, if you see what I mean, maybe that is more clear.

Just the other day in a recent podcast he was clear that he thinks it's an absurd idea. Sorry I don't know what exact words but my impression was a disparaging guttural sound along with saying that it is NOT the kind of relationship they are setting up between him & "Robin's mother"!!! They answer questions from fans in one segment & you got it, some fan asked. I do not believe he liked even being asked!

I know that she specifically pitched a love story between Holly & Olivia & personally I think it could've been amazing. And, unlike Otalia they'd have had plenty of time to tell it. I think Rauch's treatment of her & of Eleanor & Matt was appalling! The man fired her & her family members & then, for whatever reason he couldn't get anyone to come & HW the show SO HE CALLED HER & ASKED them to come back - and, amazingly, she said they would & they did. What they received from P&G & Rauch was really some of the sorriest treatment I am aware of in soaps!!! @DRW50Thanks for the info about the parrot. Didn't know. I do know she wrote some of the story at GH for Lila's dog, so she does have experience writing animal characters. I've temporarily blanked on the dog's name, but you know who I mean! I don't remember that. But, being dishonest with an actor certainly does not sound like Labine.

Come on, guys. We all know that it was a fake-out for those guards. They are not, under any circumstances going to pair Jason & Robin's mother romantically! Not gonna happen. Recently on their podcast a fan asked this particular stupid question. Steve's reaction was unbelievable. He was, like, totally grossed out. I think he even said something like UGH.
