So Tessa was married to a man and slept with Noah? Doesn't that make her sexuality 'fluid'? Stating that you're gay doesn't always make it so. Why couldn't she connect with Daniel? Mariah has been absent for months and rejected her. I have read on several occasions posters suggesting that characters who have been portrayed as straight should have a same sex relationship, so is it that absurd that Tessa, with her history, might get involved with a man? I'm not defending Josh Griffith at all, his writing on this plot has been as awful as ever.

I would have to assume that JL is now on contract which leads me to believe that Joey will be around for quite a while. Of course he was appearing as much as other contract players when he was recurring, so maybe there was BTS stuff ? Contract status ensures a regular income rather than per appearance. Perhaps he requested contract status to continue? Anyway the decision was made to demote Ben Gavin and give Jon the contract.

Liked the Bill/Anita scenes and Ted/Shanice. Glad Shanice is getting to show other aspects of her personality beyond the gossipy nurse we first saw. But I had to laugh when they said they needed to talk somewhere private and literally took two steps away from the front desk. And this was another opportunity to have Shanice actually do some nursing by saying at some point she had to attend to patients and would return to continue the conversation. Instead they just chatted away until at the end she mentioned her job. I keep hoping there will be some sort of breakthrough or a change in writing that supports or strengthens Tomas but poor AA continues to underwhelm.

I think they might have benefited by having some of the Duprees off-screen at the start so there would be fresh characters waiting in the wings. Y&R did that with Lorie to great effect. There were a lot of family and connections to sort out initially and some stuff got lost along the way. So maybe Chelsea or a male son of Nicole could be off-screen for a while.

Trouble with Kobe's revamp was that the characters mostly were dropped/left within a few years so there was no solid foundation. All the families were fragmented with more members off-screen than off in some cases. Succeeding teams made it worse by making more changes. They should have re-established the Bauer's with Hope returning and maybe Mike turning up with a new wife and step children. Then decide which other families should be prominent- Lewis, Marler, Shane, Reardon, Spaulding and structure the show to suit that vision.

This whole Matt story existed without the police being involved. Why? Victor doesn't need them. He has his crack(ed) security team ready for action. Really, the Newman's need a dedicated hotline to the GCPD considering the number of psychos they get involved with. Josh will surely continue on this path with Mari Jo, Shawn, Veronica, and that dude who stashed Victoria in the tree house waiting in the wings...

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
I guess Our House was NBC's determined attempt to provide some competition to 60 Minutes which was untouchable in that 7pm timeslot. I think they wanted to provide an alternative that would capture the demos that 60 Minutes didn't reach eg kids 2-11. young women etc. I would imagine it was quite successful in that regard. The list of shows that the opposition tried Sunday @7 through the 80's was a long one Those Amazing Animals Code Red Father Murphy Believe It or Not Voyagers First Camera Silver Spoons Punky Brewster Disney Incredible Sunday Life Goes On Programming for that slot was restricted by regulations-either Current Affairs, which 60 Minutes had a hold on or children centered-hence the opposition shows.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
@soapfan770 Our House's numbers were boosted by it's premiere following The Cosby Show. It ranked #2 for the week 28.7/45 following Cosby #1. That was Thursday of course and NBC placed it there to get as much sampling as possible before it went up against 60 Minutes. The second episode aired Sunday and ranked #19 14.6/26. 60 Minutes was #8. So Our House earned that #14 place on the strength of those early ratings that boosted the average. In the first official week of the season OH was #41.

Interesting discussion and viewpoints @Vee and @GLATWT88 One problem I think is that Smitty/Martin and Jacob/Naomi were established married couples at the debut. Now we all know that too many married couples is problematic and limiting in story. We want to see couples fighting to get together and facing obstacles along the way. If Jacob/Naomi were living together straight away you could deal with commitment issues and an intrusion from a 3rd party would be more viable. Same with Smitty/Martin. They've been straitjacketed to some extent by being married, noble and the parents of teens. Had they been a newish couple there would be way more story material. But I think this was a choice to make them more palatable to certain sectors of the audience. The Ashley/Derek/Andre triangle was DOA. I was never sure whether we were supposed to be Team Ashley and hope she found true love with Andre or realized that Derek was her perfect man. The motivations and characterization never worked. As for Dani/Bill they need to keep them apart with incidents every so often that bring them closer but never re-uniting. I've seen posters saying they should be back together this year. And then what? Kial needs to be appearing way more often. Maybe that is in the works in the next few weeks. Agree with Izaiah and Eva. The potential is there. We need to see Izaiah at work and with his family to get to know him better instead of just meet ups with Eva. Chelsea/Madison has been poorly paced. We should have seen way more of the throuple story. It was merely hinted at. There was potential to do something interesting and it wasn't exploited. Instead we went to psycho kidnapper and insta romance.

Well we've seen many actors whose offscreen persona is vastly different from onscreen performances. Somewhere along the line that interpretation of the Tomas has been accepted by TPTB. Maybe on paper he's supposed to be a stoic, calm character but to play it with so little emotion is not the way to go IMO.

Y&R: December 2025 Episode Rankings and Overall Stats
Thanks @YRfan23 No Mariah in December - 27 appearances for the year. Don't know why they even bothered with that 'storyline'. Wow - Eileen was only on 8 times for the year. Faith and Connor 4/5, Victoria's kids on once for the whole year-ridiculous. At least they are fairing better than Christian...

GH: Classic Thread
Isn't that a common story with many actors/ singers? - the very thing you wished for becomes a burden. Tony probably hoped that his success with Luke would translate into other roles that were varied, more prestigious etc and when that didn't happen there was a certain resentment. Then not to have the Bill character be well received also meant that if he wanted that kind of income and what it brought him, he would have to go back to playing Luke.

I would hope that MVJ had several years worth of story in the planning stages. Obviously some things would be changed along the way once they see onscreen what is developing. Have to agree-those switched at birth/paternity stories have been done to death. It would be nice if they could develop stories/characters w/o going for those sort of plot twists.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
I asked Chat GPT to come up with an alternate Fall 1981 schedule for NBC based on the shows they had but possibly some in different timeslots. On Saturday night it scheduled Here's Boomer, a kiddie show about a dog's adventures Saturday @10pm! Still a ways to go...
