I am glad this finally made it in full as I remember you talking about the Jill & Liz scenes 😁 It’s funny that Liz called out Jill on how she talked down to Mamie as Jill obviously took over the “lady of the manor” act immediately. Yet here I almost could’ve imagined if Adair had stayed her and Ray’s Mamie could’ve easily become unlikely allies down the road against Dina and Katherine. Leslie still being on canvas felt so out of place with the rest of the episode. Was Leslie indeed to kept on longer or was she dropped as soon as the Laurence family story went bust?

To be honest I think Thudley have never gotten over Tylo’s contract negotiations dramas they had what, 1999-02 to which lead to her eventual exit. Once Taylor came back in ‘05 it wasn’t long before the character was completely trashed. I think at some point obviously Tylo had enough which why refused to come back in 2019. I’m surprised that Taylor hasn’t recast with some high-profile actress from an ABC soap as well. That 2017-18 period at least still had a good mix of characters to offset the lousier stories and hadn’t completely became the Liam/Hope half-hour yet.

I recall funny enough MTS giving an interview saying how she liked it whenever she thought of the good old days.

Interesting it’s been so long, I may be misremembering Margo stealing it for Jake to sell(or am I thinking of something it?). I definitely recall they left town over it together, especially right after Margo had affair behind Bill Sr’s back with Taylor’s ex husband. Hard to believe it almost 30 years ago I’d love to see it again for sure too.

This one was resolved— it was Jake and Margo who stole it. 🙂

He actually had some chemistry with Hunter Tylo too back in 2018 I wish the show had it explored it further at the time.

Haven’t seen those however I do recall a 1991 episode definitely mentioning a “Fenmore’s West” in LA while one early 92 episode mentioned Fenmore’s mysterious rival Wiley’s selling Spectra clothing.

Agreed 100%. The bad thing is the show’s cast is actually very tiny at the moment you would think Thudley would finally find some balance again for the first time in years yet somehow he still only uses 1/3 of the cast. Just gross incompetence on his behalf. No wonder Patrick Mulcahey finally threw his hands up a couple years back. The weirder thing from last week was Donna’s lengthy flashback montage of her “honey bear” memories that came out of the blue after first being briefly blink if you miss it teased two years ago when Donna first came back. I don’t know if that is foreshadowing or not lol. I saw KKL’s picture with Jacob Young and Ashley Jones which I thought was nice. It definitely was a reminder of how much Rick and Bridget should still be on the show even if they fell victim to some really insipid plotlines. I know Young will most likely never return as Rick again.

Zoe’s exit scenes were seriously dumb and weren’t even the main focus of the episode but in a sad way it’s a fitting end for a character who’s been largely forgettable since her debut three years ago. Hopefully life after B&B is much more successful for Ms. Barnes there. I would have like to see Carter and Quinn regroup after the fallout as opposed to going back to Thomas in a cage, Dope looking for a Thomas and Liam in jail ugh.

Kyle has always been such an undeveloped character from the get go. The only thing I remember about Blake Hood was he was always shirtless and came off as too old for the role. Sawyer’s Kyle had that semi-decent rivalry with Noah before that was dropped. Lachlan always looked nice but his Kyle had zero personality and lasted less than a year. At least Lachlan is doing okay with Dynasty these days. Mealor’s Kyle has been all over the place. He’s turned into a very generic character. Remember when his “very horrible secret” turned out to be a big bust about nothing?

This show is a dumpster fire with these sudden casting issues. Seriously if Morgan leaves again I will disappointed as she has really been the only one to carry her storyline successfully for the past year which has absolutely awful for Y&R overall.

Compared to the other early 1950s soaps I have seen (The Bennett’s, SFT, LOL, Hawkins Falls) it’s amazing how well polished GL’s TV set was, like it was ready for primetime at time.

Wow so sorry to hear of her passing! 67 is too young. I loved what I saw of her as Renee on Days. I didn’t mind her as Donna when first watching SoapNet reruns it’s too bad she never had another daytime role in the 90s or come back on Days.

It’s interesting indeed. Demorest along with Addie Walsh and Mel Brez had initially tried to get ATWT refocused after the disastrous Stern & Black run. Their effort started out decent with Holden’s return, Emily’s rape, and who shot Diego mystery bringing in the ratings with ATWT even hitting a 5.0+ for a few weeks there. Unfortunately it was pretty uneven as the trio were the ones to bring back James, let the Diego mystery go off the rails, and had the Molly retcon story. They were demoted after about 6-7 months in favor of Jessica Klein but then promoted again for a short time after to refocus the show again after Klein’s stint quickly escalated into a dumpster fire. Then Broderick came on as HW and that was it. Of course Demorest, Walsh etc can’t be solely blamed for this era being messy as by that point MADD was in charge of P&G and her interference was heavy not to mention FMB’s own mistakes. Later he came back for Sheffer’s first year as a script writer/associate HW under Sheffer and Carolyn Culliton but of course Sheffer gets all the credit for that 2000 revival of the show. I’m not surprised he may have blocked out a lot of it as he may have not had a hand in much of the decision making but certainly bringing back Holden & James and introducing Jack, Molly, and David would have lasting effects for the rest of the show’s run.

I think that’s how long the last renewal was for. It may actually extended into 2024 but I can’t recall for sure but yeah this show does feel like it’s time to wind it down unfortunately.

Morina and Griffith don’t have a tight hold on anything at all at the moment that’s why the show is falling apart and is so lifeless/pointless at the moment.

LOL I keep noticing that all Harrison is being fed is candy, brownies, cookies, and now cupcakes. No doubt Harrison will have a childhood obesity issue in a few years like those kids from that movie War of the Roses did. I wonder if Harrison’s nickname will be “Fat Abbott”? 🤣

It was also a time of when Abby was in a vacuum too and was being positioned as a rival to both Mariah and Summer as well over throwaway characters like Tyler, Alex Chavez, Austin, Harding too? It’s the same reason I can’t remember why Stitch and Victoria ultimately broke up except it lead to a quickie brief triangle between Ashley and Abby. I’ve probably blocked out the Pratt years for good reason 😏

I had to laugh at the fact Mariah called Summer “Snowflake” for old times sake. I can’t even remember the guy they once fought over lol was it Austin or Luca? Otherwise good riddance for now.

Agreed on Skyle and Chance 100%. It’s actually nice to see Summer getting what she deserves but at the same time she’s oddly being written at the moment as a damsel in distress as opposed to the antagonist in the Kyle & Lola story just a year ago. What a mess. The entire Chance/Abby story is a huge mess. A complete disaster. I don’t think Amanda’s story is boring however it definitely isn’t well written at all. It lacks from a sense of urgency as well as a complete lack of dramatic stakes in the story as well.
