It was pretty ridiculous but I guess there wasn’t room for someone like Mari Jo on canvas especially with Phyllis on at the same time? Granted Mari Jo had always been a leery, treacherous femme fatale type character but her meltdown was OOC and of course there’s no going back when a character attacks the show’s heroine Cricket 🤣. Also for some reason The Who Shot Victor missed two important story beats that should have been included: 1) Jill having a one night stand with Ryan and 2) Victor doing something to piss off Jack and/or John for the last time. Brad’s motive was solid; Jill’s was pretty weak but it would have been more interesting if she had actually slept with Ryan, Victor knew and held it over head because he would tell Nina and Victoria. For the second beat Victor could have seen green and was in the process of selling the Jabot name off to another rival conglomerate much to Jack & John’s chagrin; yet somehow Victor’s shooting came at a time when Victor, Jack and John were all playing very nice with each other. Mari Jo shooting Victor over a Fax about her past and for the love of Jack just didn’t ring true.

Speaking of Days whatever happened to Corday’s lawsuit against Sony for interference? I almost wonder if Bells and Cordays should have cut their losses with Columbia/Sony so long ago given their shows are definitely capable of standing on their own but I guess they felt they still needed the middle partner?

Just saw @BetterForgotten replied the same time I did but he summed it up nicely. The day to day of Y&R in 2007 was so bizarre and insufferable there was no easy storyline flow, no payoff or follow up (ie Nick’s plane was sabotaged lol) that I can explain certain events but couldn’t tell you the why or how at all. Not surprised either. They’re probably keeping status quo until a Redstone or a Sony higher up gets involved. Just like CBS and JFP a few years back.

LOL. It’d far more interesting if we actually got stories of DiMera and Titan in competition but instead all we ever get is lame old “Who is going to run Titan” and “Who is going to run to run DiMera” stories repeated over and over again. Like Spaulding on GL back in the day, I would have long been sold my shares over constant CEO turnover and their complete lack of experience some of them bring to the table. 😛

Agreed it was rough to watch. Then there was nonsensical special episodes where there was the New Years Eve ep and Julie kept quoting Shakespeare the night she and Chip, Brian and Ginger, and Tanner and Molly all had their first kisses while at Wings. I think Wings was then bombed by the Torres guy shortly after that lol. Aside from Roberta Leighton as Ginger, most of the acting was dreadful. @victoria foxton@beebsI think one of the main issues for that era was there too many characters on canvas and incompetent writing made the show unfocused and not that compelling plus the leftover 80s retreads. It's a bit strange to realize while all that sophomoric Scofield drama and Jack & Jennifer hijinks were going that someone like Shane was still on canvas with a story of trying to solve the mystery of who poisoned ISA agents. LOL

The Scofield invasion of Salem from like 1990-1992 lol. Vern was the father and dated Jo Johnson and he had three kids, Brian, Tanner and Cassie. Brian was a Salem PD detective. He and Melissa dated a little bit. Jack tried to arrange for Brian to be Jennifer's wife following his death (when Jack believed he was dying). He later dated the stripper/dancer Ginger who was Molly's mother, then resigned from the police force and opened a dog-obedience school. It wasn't a success, however, so when Ginger was offered a job to write for a newspaper in Chicago, she and Brian left Salem. Tanner and Molly-- this was the pairing that Days tried to turn in the next big supercouple but they tanked the show with a 4.7 rating instead. Tanner had a job as a bartender at Wings. Molly was taken under Julie's ward when she first came to town and Julie gave her a job and Molly lived with Julie as well. Molly was drawn to Tanner, and he helped her to solve the mystery of Molly's dead mother, who was really the Cheatin' Heart waitress Ginger much Molly's horror. Molly was also the half sister of the notorious Hawk Hawkins, the guy who swindled/conned Jennifer big time as well. Hawk's dad was also Molly's dad. Molly started attending classes at Salem U but they was sexually harassed and raped by one of her college professors. Brian and Tanner worked together to take down the professor who as it turned out was also the man who murdered their mother. Tanner and Molly then started singing careers and they left Salem for LA when Philip Collier told the pair they had a future in showbiz. I don't think Cassie ever did much except appear as troublesome teen. There was once a that Spencer Olson was going to be introduced as her new love interest but Spencer of course never materialized after Julie's mentions of him.

I’m curious to see where this Lani maternity reveal leads. I wonder if Abe is going still be her father in some twisted way ie think the Grand Theft Embryo story from the 90’s. Ben & Ciara = 🤢🤢🤢🤢

This line-up actually makes more sense although it does look like CBS was sending off SFT to a death slot as well along with LOL but at least SFT would have bridged a gap. I always have noticed a lot of CBS stations in the late 70’s actually bumped Y&R to that empty 1PM slot so they could air noon newscasts always wondered how that aided Y&R’s growth at that time even when AMC become #1.

The first half of 1992 was so bad from what I recall. Roman & Bo had that ridiculous Rafi Torres story, Jennifer was in deep with Hawk, John & Isabella had the Danielle story, all the while Brian/Ginger/Tanner/Molly ate the show alive. Yikes. I always felt that it was Lisanne’s murder and Stella kidnapping Marlena to take her to the pit is what got the ball rolling again for the show.

I forgot about Danielle, I remember she was one of the first attempts the show throw at John to give him a backstory. Didn’t she first show in or around the time “One Stormy Night” aired? Lol it was torture for months there. I don’t think the show knew what to do with John and Roman at all at the time following the end of the Tale or Two Romans story. That line up would’ve been insane, 90 minutes would’ve been a disaster. The Doctors was already ailing by this point too whatever that new soap was planned to be (Texas already ?) would have been DOA plus resistance from NBC affiliates probably would never follow this schedule.

Re: Jody on Y&R, I believe I have read she was played by Cynthia Eilbacher who of course played April later on but the details on Jody are about as scarce as the Sylvia Chase character that Shirley Mitchell played.

Morina is an absolute failure as EP. Having directed and produced the show for all these years one might surmise he should have some handle on things; instead he gets by with the bare minimum, some days not even that. Typical. I wonder if Noel Maxam would be more suitable as EP. Griffith & Beall are a disaster. Getting rid of both would be a plus. No I don’t want Beall going back to script writing either, they were basically scripts written for teen sitcom IMO. As for Dansby she’s been always been a mixed bag even back at ATWT. Y&R also added Susan Banks a few months back too and there has been zilch. At this point it’s hard to imagine who could in Y&R’s writer chair. Maybe a trio of Boyd, Esser, and Slater could be fair but I can’t imagine any of them want the job. I can’t imagine what someone like Carlivanti would write for Y&R; we’d probably get stories like “Revenge of the Doppelgängers”, Sheila coming to GC wearing a Chloe mask, Rick Daros resurfacing to kidnap Nikki, bring back one of the Brooks sisters to be killed off etc.

LOL you nailed it! And at least Sally being moved into this orbit will probably be the most engaging thing she has done since Theo left. That could be interesting and I could easily see that happening. I mean I don’t think we even know much about Sally’s mom to begin with. Phyllis is too obsessed with Sally. Now we are having Phyllis huff & puff “I need to warn Chloe about Sally!” Really? Since when have Phyllis & Chloe ever had interaction? It’s a very silly that Phyllis can’t get over her daughter being happy.

The flashbacks were fantastic…I had forgot all about Lance and the bees. Too bad we didn’t one with poor Ziggy as well. Oddly Katie was around for a good chunk of the mid-late 90’s as Rick & Bridget’s live-in nanny but that was about all she did during those times. Poor Nancy Sloan. It’s beyond to time definitely to retire Liam & Hope or give them a good year’s rest to bring on Dino Forrester and I’d say that lost Brooke/Taylor spawn Jack to come back to LA. Are Wyatt & Flo still even on this show? 🤣🤣🤣

The warp speed at how this Sheila story is being presented is annoying. Just last Monday Finn randomly dropped he is adopted. By Friday Sheila shows up. By the end of Monday now everyone knows that Sheila is back. It would’ve have been nice Finn met with Sheila in secret for at least couple weeks to build up a relationship instead of foolishly immediately saying “Hey Mother I don’t even know come meet the rest of my family!” This story is going to burnt out by the end of the month at this rate. I do wonder what Sheila’s connection to Finn’s dad is. On a positive note I did hear the show today played an old score they use to play for Sheila back in the 90’s when she was talking to Finn it was a nice touch.

This being Days I am surprised that if the show wanted RSW back the show didn’t bring him back on Ben’s twin brother. That way they could have still played out certain elements of the character such as their being great apprehension towards him for being related to Ben & Clyde, him being haunted by his own mental demons trying steer clear of his family’s history afraid he’d end up just like Clyde & Ben, sheesh we could’ve had the story where Ben escapes and impersonates his twin while holding his twin hostage in dungeon in true Days fashion etc. That way they could have fresh and still edgy character without all the baggage. I barely watched 2016-2019 after Ciara’s disgusting rape but this one of Higley’s last brain dead ideas before she left? Wouldn’t surprise me if it was.

Wow I had no idea that L&F was bumped out of the 12:30 slot and shifted to Somerset’s old 4PM slot after AW. Must have been either a last ditch effort to save the show or send it off quietly before putting it on hiatus. Always felt it would have benefited from being squeezed in between Days and AW but then again L&F didn’t exactly have glowing critical reviews (I remember someone at SOD really slammed the show tearing it to pieces in a VERY critical editorial after the show went on hiatus ).
