Y&R February 2022 Discussion Thread
I don't know why, but all of a sudden, I'm having flashbacks to Nighttime Hope on DAYS.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
More and more, I get the feeling that people have just resolved themselves to the fact that they're gonna get this virus "sooner or later;" and either they survive it or they don't.

Waymin. You mean to tell me the s.o.b. was literally flushing documents and such down the crapper? Dear God.

I'm not either. I'm just para-quoting from "Coming to America," lol.

Days: Paulina and TR Spoiler
Oh, God. I can see it now. The devil (still as Johnny) morphs into Paulina and kills TR, framing Paulina for the murder.

Agree. Plus, it would've been like when they paired Erica with Ryan. Many accused that pair of lacking "heat," and I think that's because their pairing itself was inorganic. It was like Erica and Ryan were together because someone (Chuck Pratt?) thought it'd be cute, and not because both had reached a point in their lives where hooking up would be natural or inevitable.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Agree. The show was always very careful to portray Jessica Fletcher not as a doddering, senile "oldster" who was not up with the times, but as a vital, curious, nonjudgmental woman who could appeal to older and younger viewers alike. IMO, MSW, along with "The Golden Girls," did a lot to improve the image of senior citizens on TV. I guess that was FC's finest hour? I dunno, I still think the resolution to that storyline made no sense.

Looking back...Primetime Ratings from the 80's
Agree. I mean, there ARE subtle differences between the early, Peter S. Fischer-produced ones and the ones after his departure; episodes from the latter seasons tend to be less folksy, more sophisticated, with a greater emphasis on younger guest stars. Yet, MSW was overall consistent enough that you COULD watch episodes out of order and not feel lost. Plus, MSW was the type of show that you could watch episodes more than once and still enjoy them. Conversely, unless you're a real diehard fan of soaps (like we are, lol), once you've watched shows like DALLAS and KNOTS LANDING all the way through, you're not inclined to go back and watch them all over again.

I would say Charlie. Didn't he just drop out of medical school when he and Erica hooked up?

And you think that makes it okay to talk to that poster like that? How old are you?

Ah, but they did pair Tad and Erica. Remember that Fan February episode (or whatever the hell Frons' people called it)? Viewers got a glimpse of Tad and Erica's make believe nuptials. (Spoiler alert: the dream died.)

Y&R February 2022 Discussion Thread
Look, RN didn't last as long as he did on GL (with OR without Kim Zimmer) because he was just okay. We longtime GL fans have standards, lol.

Days of Our Lives: February 2022 Discussion Thread
I think so, but I can't say for sure. Alls I know is, it was another, stupid retcon that made zero sense and ultimately added nothing to John OR to the overall show. It's funny how everything ends up being retconned into Stefano's doing on this show. Even Steve's "death" wound up being another one of the Phoenix's schemes, even though the Phoenix himself hadn't been around forever. And Hope's "death"? Yep, Stefano had a hand in that, too, apparently, despite the fact that we saw Ernesto Toscano mastermind the whole thing.

"Oh, there they go! There they go! Every time we start talking about casting females on soaps, somebody gotta pull Gina Tognoni outta their ass! That's they one! That's they one! Gina Tognoni! Gina Tognoni! Lemme tell you something once and for all! Gina Tognoni is good, but compared to Sarah Brown, Gina Tognoni ain't [!@#$%^&*]!" He could have his own show called "Drew Fix My Life," and go around calling everybody "boo."

GENERAL HOSPITAL February 2022 Discussion Thread
That's a good interpretation, I think. Sonny knows he and Carly have reached the point of no return, but he's too afraid to let go of all the years they've spent together (for a very uncertain future with Nina). Add the fact that he's off his bipolar meds and therefore unable to think rationally and you have something good there to play with. If only Mo B and the writers would step the [!@#$%^&*] up. Listen, I still remember when he was still Nico Kelly on AMC, and as green as he was back then, he was still more compelling than he's been as Sonny in a very, very long time. I mean, even on those increasingly rare occasions when he doesn't appear checked out, he still can't hold my interest the way he could as Nico. Wyndham's Rachel was hood before being hood was a thing.

And I'm sure VW and DW hated a lot of their material, too, but they committed to it, because that's what actors are supposed to do. They take what's on the page -- now matter HOW awful -- and they make it work. If only Mo B would understand that.

I don't even understand why someone would WANT Tony and Marlena to share offspring. I mean, Stefano and Marlena? Maybe. But TONY and Marlena??

Or, he could have been RealRoman's kid, conceived during either time he was away from Salem. (It's DAYS, so it really doesn't matter.). I mean, if you're gonna have Josh Taylor on your show, you might as well do something with him, right, lol?

Good & Bad Soap Timeslots
It's the same here in OKC. First Y&R, at 11 am; followed by our local news; then B&B, at 12:30. When I was a youngster, here's how (I recall) the soap skeds worked: The earliest was LOVING, at 10:30 am. Then, it was a choice between AMC and Y&R at 11. All three affiliates went to news at noon. Then, at 12:30, it was either RH, on ABC; or CAPITOL, on CBS. At 1, it was AW, ATWT and OLTL. At 2, it was GH, GL and SANTA BARBARA. At 3, it was DAYS.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
I still [!@#$%^&*] hate how they killed him off ATWT. The first interesting new character to come along on that show in ages, and they dispose of him with the quickness.
