I went on binge last night watching a bunch of old Jeanne Cooper interviews. God I miss that woman. She also just seemed so young and progressive for her age even though she had such a love for the soap genre and what soaps used to stand for. She was talking about how Y&R used to have a team of researchers who worked really hard to make sure the storytelling they did on the show was accurate and mirrored real life stories (cancer, serial killers, mental disorders, etc). She said that the show made a bet that if the story telling wasn’t accurate they had to give out a T-shirt any time a mistake was made & they only ever had to give out 2 T-shirts! imagine how many T-shirts they would have to give out now. Sigh.

I agree that the Danny and Cricket wedding is random and out of left field. I would of preferred more build up and more screen time for both of these characters. ALL that being said though, I will appreciate the change from having the same boring characters day in and day out (Cane, Phyllis, Sally, Billy, Claire, Kyle) to name a few has been exhausting to watch everyday. If JG invested a little more into Danny/Cricket and also gave us a funeral for Chance by bringing back Nina, Jill.. I would say the show is actually on the right track. Throw in the new storyline for Nick & Sharon involving Noah and I’d say hey, maybe we actually have a decent show on our hands again. Nothing against the characters I mentioned earlier either, it just gets boring when it seems to be the only characters with a storyline being showcased. It’s boring.

Passions was a damn mess LOL. There was always so much insane dialogue on that show. In some ways I kind of miss it because I wish soaps could be more daring these days with their storytelling. Not that I would want another Passions style soap necessarily but I wish they would stop playing it so safe.

For the past couple years now SC has been offscreen a lot during the summer months and then they bring her back in the fall for a big storyline so I am just hoping they don’t make her crazy like they did last year with the Heather story. If they can achieve that then I’ll be happy. My expectations aren’t too high at this point..

Yeah. It’s honestly one of the main things Y&R has been lacking in right now besides their lack of sets, in my opinion. Their lack of characters and storylines has been VERY glaring and I am glad to see it looks like something is at least being done with trying to expand on the cast more. Seeing the same handful of people day in and day out has been frankly quite dreadful and boring

Not gonna lie I am kind of surprised to see Danny and Christine’s wedding is going to be on screen. I was not expecting that. Anything Nick and Sharon related will always make me watch. So I’m intrigued to see what this “trip” will be. By far the most uninteresting storyline is CANE, and it seems like he’s also been eating up the most air time lately which is why I’ve been barely watching. Ugh.

I don’t really need Noah to be gay. We have Mariah, and if we brought back Fen that would be another opportunity for a gay storyline.i just don’t understand why we can’t expand further on all these young characters and bring up the new generation to carry this show. We can’t rely on Victor, Phyllis, Nick, Sharon, Adam, Jack etc to push storyline forever on this show (as much as I love my vets and always will want them to be apart of it in some capacity).

Days and Y&R are just swapping actors all the time now huh?

It almost slipped my mind that the Athletic Club used to have an actual gym. You know.. hence the name ATHLETIC CLUB. There were so many little things like that which made Genoa City feel like a real place, or even when characters would have those short scenes walking into Fenmores to shop.. or being at a salon to get their nails done and ofcourse it would usually somehow play into the plot but it still felt like a real day in Genoa City

Honestly this cast needs some beefing up. Y&R has always been known for its large cast so hopefully this is all good news considering there’s now 4 new people coming onto the show.

Can’t say I blame her. I’d lose interest too.

Sharon Case has been taking time off. I think the low episode count is her own personal choice. She took a break for the summer but I’m sure she will be back now that summer is ending.

Oh god Avery is definitely not needed back. I agree though.. and the only connections I need to Nick and Sharon are their children, Noah & Faith which we probably wouldn’t get. id seriously be interested in a Mackenzie recast though. There is so much story potential for Billy there and I don’t know why it’s been ignored for so long when Billy has become such a front burner character these days. I am NOT feeling the relationship with Sally. They make me sick. I literally FF their scenes.

She’ll either have a connection to Nick/Sharon or Phyllis or maybe even Billy.. (how old would Mackenzie be now?)

McKenzie Westmore also had an eating disorder during 2005-2006ish and was threatened by the network after she was hospitalized. She also talks about being forced to do the miscarriage scenes in the pit that Beth and Charlie put her in around 2003 and how traumatizing that was since she just went through a miscarriage of her own. It seems like there some pretty dark stuff that goes on behind the scenes of these soaps especially after listening to Hunter Tylo’s interview (B&B). I don’t know if that has changed/gotten better over the years but it sounded like hell in the early 2000’s what they put these actors through.

There were tons. They talked a lot about the “scooby-doo gang” (Miguel, Charity, Kay, Jessica, Simone, Reese) and how they all were apparently f*cking eachother back in the day and always had drama. They didn’t go into great detail about that specifically, but there were tons of other stories. Natalie Zea talks about feeling outcasted on set by everyone but how the older crew (Ben Masters, Kim Ulrich, Andrea Evan’s, Eva Tamargo) were consummate professionals and all of them learned a lot from those actors because a lot of them had no prior acting experience and were just kids. It really was a fascinating listen and I think I spent a good week listening to it non-stop. I truly wish they’d pick up the podcast again or someone else from the cast would do one.

If this means more space for more sets, please tell me Y&R isn’t far behind…

It was during an episode of Natalie Zea & Travis Schuldt’s podcast during the pandemic “Passions for life” and Mackenzie Westmore was a guest on one of their episodes where she talks about an actor who was making moves on her during filming & she made a complaint and they got rid of him right away at the time. In later episodes Natalie & Travis basically confirm it was Christopher Douglas in later episodes and that he was the only actor on the show they strongly disliked. Natalie Zea also alluded to having some issues with Lindsay Hartley on set but that they’re on great terms now. However, she said she won’t discuss it unless Lindsay Hartley comes on the podcast and talk about it with her.

Just getting to the end of part two. It’s interesting to say the least but I wanna hear more. I guess they plan on doing more of these lives together. I wanna hear all the behind the scenes tea

Did they ever end up explaining her sudden change of character in the finale? For some reason I recall them making something up at the very end about her having some kind of brain condition. Clearly she wasn’t completely cured of it though if she managed to convince herself that Antonio was her soul mate 🤣 The most sickening part of that whole ending is the fact that Mackenzie Westmore has alluded to being sexually harassed by the actor who played Antonio and that was actually the reason he left the show initially. So the fact that they put her character with him in the series finale is pretty sadistic.

Not a big B&B watcher but has anyone been following the Hunter Tylo interview on YouTube? Oh boy it’s a good one. She doesn’t hold back. I love juicy soap interviews like this. A part 2 is coming as well!
