I remember reading that she auditioned for a role or something on BTG but it didn’t end up working out. I hope they do reconsider though. That would be a good way to get me watching that show full time.

Can someone tell me what Phyllis’ goal is? Because I can’t tell. One minute she seems to want Billy, then she wants Cane, now she seems to be going after Christine again because she’s marrying Danny? Today’s CDN episode was BIZZARE. It’s as if JG is just writing episodes like it’s an alternate reality or dream sequence whenever he feels like it, even if it doesn’t fit with the current storyline/narrative. If these characters could be written with a clear purpose that would be super helpful.

Oh yeah, if this post seems out of place someone please let me know if there is a classic days of our lives thread that I can post in. I tried finding it but I couldn’t find one lol

I’ve recently decided to embark on a sober journey which has left me with a lot of free time on weekends (which have become very productive) but I still have a lot of hours left in the day, so I’ve decided to start on a days of our lives binge and I found the lady who posts classic episodes from the 80s, 90s and 2000s. This lady has full years and almost every episode going back to 1984. I ofcourse wanted to start at 1984 but the episodes aren’t converted yet for viewing (only for download). So I will wait patiently and enjoy the episodes from 2001 onwards. Many of you are probably already aware of this person so I won’t share the link here unless someone sends me a personal message. I was not watching during these years except for seeing it on tv in the background here and there. The beginning of 2001 starts with Bo and Hope’s extravagant wedding, Shawn and Belle ice skating and discovering a dead body, Philip and Chloe being incredibly awkward (but cute.. maybe they’ll grow on me), Sami scheming with Brandon to get a certain tape that will incriminate Lucas so she can get custody of Will, Nicole’s shenanigans with seducing Victor. Very interesting stuff and I have a feeling I will be very preoccupied for awhile. I think the whole princess Gina storyline is happening too and I don’t really understand it… I am not super fond of it either I gotta say. It’s very Passions level campy.

Very excited for that Victoria Rowell interview. I wish she could be back on soaps. She would be perfect on Beyond The Gates. I’ve given up hope we’d ever have her on Y&R again Yeah the Noah storyline makes no sense. All the previous actors had very different looks and none of them looked even slightly similar. We really dont need an explanation for why Noah looks different. Please, we have a new Noah every couple years, we’re pretty used to it now.

Plus they have a new co-EP and head writer so I’m curious to see what a fresh set of eyes can do for the show. I agree with what was said above about not wanting too many “one-note” villains. Soaps always used to give us great female characters who were bad but complex (Nicole from DAYS, Phyllis from Y&R) come to mind. I don’t mind the odd villain who is just evil to the bone like Sheila Carter but you can’t have too much of that & definitely not all the time. It needs to be balanced.

Oooh this new Hayley twist is making me wanna start watching again.

It would explain why she’s been taking a lot of breaks from the show here and there and then when she comes back, she’s not really seeming like herself. It doesn’t help that we are supposed to believe Sharon (the character) is supposedly healthy and back on her meds lol..

Anywho, Thoughts on today’s CDN Y&R Episode

“Many times”? That’s… generous. Cassie’s death was one of the very few times I saw him actually act.

JM didn’t even shed a single tear. He looked bored to bits and almost on the verge of wanting to burst out laughing. He’s always relied on his female scene partner to do the heavy lifting though so I’m not surprised one bit. Sharon was doing entirely too much. Won’t deny that.

Nick was giving those vibes too. The way he was looking at Sharon was like.. “oh no she’s about to lose her sh*t again what do I do”. I mean jeez JM you couldn’t have atleast tried to show some emotion? I felt like JM was under acting in those scenes and SC was over acting a bit. The crying was enough. We didn’t need all the extra theatrics. SC is a fabulous actress but it wasn’t her best work. Then again, with this writing.. I can imagine it’s hard to take it seriously at times.

That’s exactly what I always loved about soaps, specifically Y&R. This soap used to do just that in their writing style. I actually imagine it would be easier for writers because it literally will write itself and you don’t have to overthink it. I like when the storylines are connected and the fallout births a totally new storyline and it can just continue on like that. There should be no need to rely on silly unrealistic scenarios to get people interested.

So you’re holding out hope that it’s actually going to all make sense somehow? Even after the Dumas mess from this summer? Yeah I won’t hold my breath. 🤣

Y&R CDN episode thoughts

First new character in awhile on Y&R I am intrigued by, and I’m not even super familiar with her work.. (I remember bits here and there from Days) but I really like this actress. i just want Sally off my screen and I have felt assaulted by her and her bright red hair everyday & JG seems to like writing for her a lot. If this is JG’s new pet, I am willing to keep an open mind.

Well. One thing we know for sure now. Nick and Sharon’s children absolutely suck at driving

That was a fun interview. I hope there’s more to come. I love all those ladies. I’m pulling for Sharon to win though or at the very least Eileen. Third preference would be Missy and then Michelle. Michelle has enough Emmy’s as is..

I’d be pissed as an actress if I played the character of Nina for all these years and I can’t even return to mourn my own sons death but they bring me back for this nepo baby b*tches wedding.

Right? Not only is the plot itself unimaginative/boring and repetitive but we know we won’t even get any good scenes or sets out of it either.

JW has been in quite a few episodes so far actually. A lot of them are with Cane (bleh) but she has some with Nikki and Victor too.
