  1. Oh, it was a total teen movie cliche but I felt Teresa Castillo was good at it early on. It was still a plotline so beneath what the show had been up til recently at that point, and she became unbearable once they leaned into Princess Sabrina's Dreams Come True. Britt I just never got anything off of, and she only got worse the more they tried to lean into making her a more overtly prefabricated 'snarky character' after a minor audience response, while also trying to imbue her with emotional range KT could not handle.
  2. I think BG did improve a bit but he also had a lot less to do. I wasn't exactly chomping at the bit for more Derek on my screen, ever again. So in terms of a casualty he only makes sense. Though I still might've wasted Tomas first.
  3. There are IMO. I may have despised her since 2012-3 but I think she does have a modest fanbase. But it has never been at those insane levels and I would argue this last year has only hurt it, lol. When I expected quite the opposite. I never liked Britt over Sabrina. They both were so forced but early Sabrina at least had the Lucy worship going for her. After the Nurses Ball returned and Sabrina got her makeover they both became totally unwatchable to me.
  4. See also: Bo and Hope's daughter being named after Ciara!
  5. It wasn't even about that! She did all of it because Obrecht told her to as part of the evil villains' grand scheme under ol' Ron. That was the only reason she came to PC and moved on Patrick, let alone stole the embryo. It was revenge on the Scorpios and Spencers. This has been a painful thing ever since Ron first forced it on us. Look at Britt and Brad watching the Nurses Ball cracking jokes, hahaha! You do that at home with your friends, right? So fun! Hahahaha!! It was always so sweaty. Then somehow it led to CVE and O'Connor giving her a massive sendoff with a slideshow of IRL childhood photographs and drag queens saluting her(!!) in 2022-3. You would've thought Jackie had died early or it was Jonathan Jackson's farewell in '99. I don't even know, man. She has never been as popular, fierce or 'iconic' as some of the creatives at GH clearly want her to be. Lucas used to despise her but now he has to be her new GBF too because Brad isn't prominent enough. It's always been so artificial to me. Even trying to make 'the Brittch' happen for years. It would be one thing if you had a versatile, vibrant actor who could at least live up to this hard sell. She's never been that vibrant!
  6. Again: I am convinced it's another of Chris Van Etten's twee little 'subversive touches' that he thinks elevate this mess and show his true creative bonafides. Britt the totally organic LGBT icon surrounded by gay men who now all love her (and even drag queen extras on occasion) now even has a catty Eurotrash butler who's plotting against her. More fierce queer storytelling starring Britt, the heterosexual female with all the flair and emotional range of an airport baggage carousel. What fun! No we won't be giving any of these gay characters like Lucas A-stories, why do you ask?
  7. Harding Lemay tried to do it all at AW because he disdained most of his "sub-writers." The not exactly subtle running thread in his memoir, of course, is the complete psychological breakdown of his entire family and his own health in the process, though he keeps mentioning it all very casually. There is no way for a human being to work that way. And they were trying to do it at 90 minutes.
  8. I suspect the spec about the NAACP having a hand in representation issues, with how the Duprees always default to "Duprees strong!" and only outside parties (Joey, the Belleclaires, Hayley, etc.) are the baddies/puppet masters, may have a kernel of truth. And I do think it is an problem for the show. That being said they're all still keeping the secret about what Martin did and what happened to his last attacker, and that is going to come back. They toned Dani down a lot after some very broad first weeks and months. I don't have a problem with that. She's not meant to be a villain and very clearly isn't. The Hayley story was tired almost six months ago and needs to end. She's become almost as annoying and tedious to me as she was last summer. How many pointless conversations about 'your client Lynette' can one have?
  9. Didn't see this in here, apologies if posted. The production and camerawork were a major level up these last few days and they have delivered on the cotillion week overall. Some of the tracking camera stuff reminded me of Linda Gottlieb's daring style in early '90s OLTL. We don't see enough of that on other soaps today. The lighting in the warehouse, etc. was also very good. The entire interlude with the Belleclaires was cartoonish and silly out of a Saturday morning cartoon, but it wasn't enough to derail the overall solid event. I do think the girl playing Francesca has real potential to continue. Her "glamma" (ugh) Anastasia (or however they spell it) is and always has been a one-note caricature. The day to day dialogue and nuance still has to get a lot more developed beyond 'hoity-toity snobs turn up their noses at our plucky heroes'. Nonetheless, it's their most impressive sweeps since the big reveal of Eva and Leslie last summer and hopefully augurs better things. Particularly if we have another couple big shoes to drop this week. If they could get their hokey dialogue and pacing issues under control this show could really soar.
  10. More of Laurelton under the sea:
  11. I did say ''moments'! This feels like the last gasp of trying to make Britt work sans Jason - all these sweaty attempts at having both Rocco and previous hater Lucas (since Brad was not a prominent enough gay to cosign her, obviously) declare their newfound adoration, along with softer scenes with Emma - but I've been wrong before. Still, it follows a very familiar trajectory of other forced failures. They had to have feedback on this long ago so it's beyond me why it's continued. We know (per DZ) they abandoned making Rocco Britt's biological son last year due to intense negative response early on. I said it a few days ago but if she really does take off with him that's going to cripple her character further IMO. Viewers are not here for the memory of what she did to baby Rocco let alone history repeating. And Jason is not going to be down with the Jossnapping. Finn Carr is doing amazing work. I just resent that it's all expended on this.
  12. We all know Derek could not read. #RIP #onelove
  13. Oh damn. They should've kept him out. It happens, they're not the first soap to make the mistake though if he turns up alive.
  14. Nicole as the Impaler would be among the wildest soap twists of all time lmao.
  15. It's the same playbook as Natalia, Kristina, etc. And it always fails. I don't know why this team doesn't learn. It's moments like this I miss Bob Guza. He would drag this bitch under the wheels so hard all that would be left is dental evidence.
  16. Oh Christ.
  17. I actually remember a cotillion reference (before the bar mitzvah scene) late last spring or early summer, because I pointed it out in the fall when people were asking why they weren't referencing it. They were. They mentioned the girls' deb balls briefly very early on. So I don't think this storyline came from any fans anywhere online.
  18. I'll miss him. Maybe he'll suffer a brain injury and suddenly whenever it's rainy or he hears a loud noise, Rashad will pop out mid-conversation or passionate lovemaking with Jacob's boring wife. "Fo sho! Bet!" They did start showing the warehouse IIRC around the time Grayson got shivved. But that was not that long ago and they should've been putting it to more use before now.
  19. I called it months ago! Arrrghh!!
  20. Hence why I'd have it end with Stella having to kill power-mad Curtis! Move it along! Willow did indeed blackmail Nina.
  21. I did tune in for this mess. Nikki Crawford is indeed strange as Lexie but I don't think it's her fault either. She's a good actress. The whole situation and story is plain bizarre even by DAYS standards. JPL tormented so many of us at OLTL and I think GH fans would storm the studio if Frank tried to install another OLTL star at the show, let alone one who had all his worst instincts on the loose the last time they worked together. I like John Paul as a person, I'm pleased if he's worked out as Phillip but I don't need to watch him on my soap again. He was always a hammy Diet Scott Clifton at best, those Dillon/Rex types of roles bring out the worst in him, and Dillon Q needs something much stronger than that if he's going to work without SC ever again. (Vanilla Ice hopeful Robert Watkins was not it) I am so lost as to the age skew on Theo, Gabi and Ari. Like, what? How? How is he straddling both those ranges? I'm still getting over Will having an unnecessary grown-ass daughter.
  22. Lia doesn't need to die to be out of the job. She's done at Garland (and likely on the show) no matter what happens. I do hope they install Monica permanently on the canvas, and maybe dig up her lost love who was 'unsuitable.' Possibly a black sheep relation of Vernon or Anita's. I could stand to see both Shanice/Monica and Mona's families opened up much more on canvas. I also think Francesca has real potential. Ol' Sammy is only going to go so far.
  23. Thanks so much for this. I've been following along on Franko's great work and watching some Laurelton, etc. material here and there. I'd still bring Tia back for an arc today, as I've noted! Mostly as an excuse to add more AAPI characters and most of all get crime story away from centering around the one-note monotone Selina Wu lol.
  24. It's the bits with half the cast cold-cocking the fourth wall right into the camera that kill me in the disco opening. Just wild stuff.
  25. I mean, it's a soap. Folks are gonna die tragically. No one will care if Lia or Ren die. Derek OTOH used to be a main castmember and some people do like him (God knows why) so that's drama. Lia and Ren getting apprehended and sent off to the hoosegow is a perfectly fine fate for them.
